The first eviction of Big Brother 6 was tonight. Ashlea was voted out on a 9-2 vote over Kaysar. Not really surprising to see her evicted. We did get the news on tonight’s episode with who the duos are that are the teams. The duos are James and Sarah who are dating. Beau and Ivette who are former co-workers and friends. Kaysar and Michael, neighbors for 6 years. Eric and Maggie, Maggie is dating someone in Eric’s fire station. Howie and Rachel who are friends. Ashlea and Janelle are former roommates. April and Jennifer are sorority sisters. If the duo gets to the final 2, the winner of BB6 gets one million dollars instead of the normal amount which I believe is $500,000. Some of these teams were kind of surprising and others weren’t. James and Sarah have been seen kissing on the live feeds so that was the least kept secret. On House Calls, the opinion seemed to be that Howie and Rachel were a team but everyone seemed to think they would be brother and sister which they aren’t. Here are some of my other thoughts with the Big Brother week. I said it last week and I’ll say it again. I think Rachel is a gamer. She may have to be careful in being too strong though. She was in a tough spot being the first HOH. That always puts a target on you right out of the gate. I would throw the first HOH and not try to win it and lay low for a couple of weeks. It was fun watching her trying to figure out the secret room. Yep, the secret room was finally found with Rachel figuring out the clues. This house is awesome this year. Ivette is going to stir some drama in that house. No doubt about it!! I’m just waiting for her to explode on someone. Some house guests I’ve really yet to figure out. It’s still early to see what everyone is bringing to the table. I tend to think Maggie will be a strong player along with Michael. I don’t really have any favorites yet though. I will say that Eric needs to chill out. He is playing the game way too hard way too early. He needs to relax a bit and settle in. Eric did win the HOH tonight and it could be really interesting with him as HOH. To follow up on what I said last week about being bummed that I couldn’t go to the Big Brother newsgroup. AOL got rid of the access to the newsgroups earlier this year but did leave a message for some options on how we could access them. I found out I can get to the group through Google. I’m very happy as I’ve been going to this newsgroup to see the Big Brother discussion since Big Brother 2. If you haven’t checked out House Calls, check it out. Marcellas and Gretchen have been very fun to listen to so far. The show was fun last year and has been this year too. The first evictee, Ashlea, will be on the show tomorrow taking questions.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one that thought MTV’s coverage of the Live 8 concert was terrible. MTV got a big backlash over it from fans and critics. MTV’s live coverage of the Live 8 concert 2 weeks ago consisted of them doing what they normally do and that is talky talky. Instead of showing the concert on stage, MTV spent most of the time talking and doing backstage stuff and would often break away from performances in mid-song that is if they were even showing the song at all. I knew they would do something like with what they did so I didn’t even bother watching it on MTV as it happened live. I watched it on AOL as I said last week. Well, this past weekend, MTV came out and admitted they were wrong and apologized. They gave us a 10 hour replay of the concert. It was also commercial free with NO talking at all and was all performances. They showed about everything that I saw lineup wise on AOL. VH-1 covered the first 5 hours and then the last 5 hours were shown on MTV. This replay was really good and they split up the performers to the different channels by going by the demographic by both channels. MTV really messed up but it was nice of them to finally admit they were wrong and give the fans what they wanted. For those of you that want to see it and missed it, go to AOL’s website and go to the music section and they have the concert on demand where you can pick to watch any song by any act. Highly recommend it as I was checking it out the other night and the quality of the webcast is amazing.
Disney this week released a DVD of the Mickey Mouse Club: Best of Britney, Christina, and Justin. I had a big afternoon tradition of when I was growing up of when I got home from school, I watched Kids Incorporated and then MMC and taped all of the episodes. MMC is often talked about cause of all the break out stars that they had that were on the show. Kids Inc kind of gets the shaft often but they had some big stars come out of it too. Fergie from Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Love Hewitt are the most notable. Eric Balfour is another guy I see guest star on a ton on stuff as he was in the first season of Buffy and a ton of other shows. Anyway, back to MMC, this was a fun DVD to watch. I haven’t actually watched the whole thing. I just kind of skimmed around the DVD. It features 4 episodes from season 6 of the show. After watching how they did the DVD, it left me curious as to what a lot of fans have been asking and that is why can’t we have season sets? Especially when I saw that on the menu they have episode numbers on it. I thought the problem might be music rights but all the music is there on the DVD and the episodes look exactly as they did when they aired. Some wonder if they are testing the waters with this DVD to see if there is interest. There is but I want the earlier seasons too not just the Britney, Christina, and Justin years. The DVD was under $10 so I couldn’t pass it up. With the talent that has come out of these shows and the demand of people wanting to see these episodes now that didn’t originally watch it, money could be made off of season sets big time for Disney. Let me run down a list of people that came from MMC that you might have heard of: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling. Others that aren’t as well known but have gotten out in the entertainment world, Nikki DeLoach (I actually met her at a concert and she was very cool) who was in the group Innosense and was on the show, North Shore, last year. Dale Godboldo who has been in a ton of shows, Tony Lucca and Matt Morris who are still performing. Jason Priestley and Jennie Garth were on some of the MMC movies before 90210. It was a fun DVD to watch and I hope for more releases in the future as Disney can make a ton of money with these episodes.
I was curious about the DVD release of Star Wars Episode 3 and went looking for some info. The rumored release is around early November. There is talk of maybe the official news coming out this weekend at Comic-Con in San Diego. Good news for all of us Rachael Leigh Cook fans. She has signed on to be on the show “Las Vegas”. She will have a recurring role as a real estate agent. From what I read in TV Guide, it sounds like Veronica Mars is getting some rough treatment. I mentioned a few weeks ago that Veronica Mars was getting hurried to DVD in time to get it out in stores before season 2 premiered. To do this, it was rushed which meant that the extras that were planned had to be left off of the set. Now, word comes that the box set isn’t going to be released till October. So, now there will be no extras on the set and no early release date so they got nothing out of the deal. The producers of the show are really unhappy about this. The much talked about live action Transformers movie is going to be in theatres on July 4, 2007. Dreamworks and Paramount will be doing the movie and Steven Spielberg will be an executive producer on the movie. The announcement was made at Comic-Con. To say the least, all of us Transformers fans are going to be really keeping a close eye on this movie to see what is going on with it and that it is done right.
I saw some pictures of the new Buffy action figures. The Once More With Feeling Buffy looks awesome. I’ll have to get that one as I said before, I plan on getting all of the Once More With Feeling figures that they put out. They also have a Buffy figure and Faith figure from End Of Days.
Amazing Race 1 has started on GSN as I mentioned last week. Great to see season 1 again as I have said it is my favorite. Team Guido really annoyed me and still do. Still loving Emily and Nancy. I love Kevin and Drew too. They cracked me up. They are always griping at each other. I believe they still have a website up if I remember right.
