On to Big Brother 6. Bummer wih Sarah being voted out on a 6-1 vote last night. I did get a make up present though as Kaysar won the America’s Choice and went back into the house. He won the vote with 82% of the vote. Eric got the 2nd most votes but it couldn’t have been a high percentage compared to what Kaysar got. Let me go back to earlier in the week. Howie won HOH. He put up James and Sarah for eviction to break up that duo and at least send one of them home. He really messed up though with showing all of his cards to the other team and Rachel let him know how dumb it was. James won the veto for the 3rd week in a row and vetoed himself off the block yet again. Howie put up Ivette in his spot as a pawn to get rid of Sarah. Sarah had a rough week dealing with being nominated as she was big time blind sided by it. She was just in a tough spot as people don’t like James for the most part and with her being his girlfriend, she got a bad deal by association. It was nice to see her stand up for herself this week and let it be known that she didn’t appreciate being nominated and lied to. A lot of people laugh it off and all when they are nominated but she didn’t. She didn’t want to talk to anyone and I say good for her. James has been playing a wild game that could or could not get him further as he plays both sides and lies to both sides. His game reminds me of a bad version of Dr. Evil, Will, from Big Brother 2. Will lied to everyone about everything except to his alliance. His alliance was voted off early on and he continued to survive and going on to win the whole thing. He was playing a great game though for sure but James isn’t near playing that level of a game but he is trying to. Ivette even as a pawn in the nomination block was close to being voted off as her own alliance is ready to get rid of her. One thing we have learned in Big Brother is that the pawn is the one that always gets voted off. It didn’t happen last night but it normally does happen!! The show ended with the HOH competition underway with everyone having to keep their fingers on a button inside this glass box outside in the yard. The one that holds the button the longest will win HOH. I won’t tell who won the HOH as the rest of the competition will air on Saturday night so I don’t want to spoil it for you.
CBS has released the names and info on the next cast of Survivor Guatemala. The show will premiere in mid September. For anyone watching the reruns on OLN, season 2 of Australia is set to start on Monday night. That is my favorite season of Survivor so I highly recommend it.
The Dukes Of Hazzard movie opened this weekend at number one at the box office. The movie made $30.8 million. The Wedding Crashers dropped to number 2 making $16.5 million. 3rd place went to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with $10.6 million. 4th was Sky High followed by Must Love Dogs in 5th. March of the Penguins continues to gain steam jumping from 10th spot last week up to 6th. The movie has taken in $24.5 million so far.
I checked out the new music channel that has started up called The Tube. The whole point of the music video channel is that they play music videos and not anything else. Wide variety too from what I saw. Old and new. I saw some old U2, No Doubt’s “Spiderwebs”, Dido’s “Thank You”, Finger Eleven’s “One Thing” and some more from the 80’s, 90’s, and today. I liked what I saw of it so if you get the chance, check it out. I’m just glad to see a music video channel playing music videos.
I saw a kind of extended preview of Alyson Hannigan’s new show How I Met Your Mother. That did a lot more for me than the shorter previews have been. I think this could be a good show and I am going to check it out this fall. I read an article today that said that the cast seemed really fun and really into the show when they did their press interviews about the show. Critics are thinking that this might be one show to keep an eye on in the fall as it could be successful.
If anyone is wanting previewed movies on DVD, Blockbuster Video is running a 3 for $25 deal. I’m waiting for one more movie to be put up as previewed before I jump on it. Then, maybe I’ll have some more movie reviews for you as that is how I buy my movies. I wait for them to go previewed and then buy 3 at a time as it’s a ton cheaper.
I mentioned a couple weeks ago about my complaints of TV on DVD sets and about the music changes. Well, this week made me remember another complaint of mine that is more than the music. This is when the companies put the syndicated versions of shows on the DVD instead of the original broadcast version. This happened with the Cosby Show season 1 set and also Alf season 1. From what I’ve heard, the company that produced the Cosby Show DVD has said in writing that the original NBC episodes would be on the DVD. I looked at the box yesterday and didn’t see it on the box. The syndicated ones are the ones that are on the DVD. This means that 1-2 minutes has been cut out of each episode from when it aired on NBC. ALF did this too with season 1 and now with season 2 that is about to come out. Fans really let the company have it over what they did to ALF. The company was backtracking big time over it and couldn’t ever come up with a good explanation about it. It’s funny cause TV Shows On DVD did a review of ALF when it came out and complained about the syndicated episodes. The company contacted the site asking if they could pull the review until they released a statement over what happened. They never did release a statement and it came off as them trying to get that review pulled off of such a heavily traveled site until they made some more sales. I’m not sure what happened with Cosby but I know they are losing a lot of business on this as did ALF. There are more shows that have done this but these are the two that I have seen.
