Hey everyone. First, I want to start off and ask for everyone to say a prayer for all of the people in New Orleans and on the gulf coast. It is a really horrible and sad situation down there. There are a lot of places that are taking donations to help the people down there and I definitely want to encourage all of you to help any way you can. There will be a benefit concert tomorrow night featuring a variety of singers and celebrities looking to help the effort.
Let’s get into the entertainment stuff. Now, for the weekly Big Brother update. April won HOH last week and it was decided that they were going to backdoor James and get him out. April put up Janelle and Howie for eviction but had told both of them to not pick James to play in the veto competition where he wouldn’t have a chance to win the veto. This was the last week where not everyone will be able to compete for the veto. April won the veto and then took Janelle off the block and James was put up. James tried a lot of different things to stay in the house but it didn’t work. He was voted out on a 4-0 vote. It was a shame to see James go as he was a really good player in this game. He had a lot of people’s attention for how good of a player he is and they knew they had to get rid of him. It then came down to the HOH competition. Howie ended up winning and it was a sigh of relief from me and I’m sure a lot of people around the country as one of the Friendship is likely to leave this week. It is another double eviction week so a nomination had to be made immediately. Howie put up Ivette and Beau for eviction and they are the last of the duos left in the game. Another person will be evicted on Saturday night’s episode. Well, it sure was interesting seeing Rachel and Jennifer having to interact in the sequester house tonight. Another thing about the Friendship, I’m talking about them not getting an America’s Choice win yet again. Janelle won the phone call from home. The Friendship have decided that the voting was rigged by the show as they think that America loves them. America doesn’t love them and they are in for a huge reality check when they get out of the house. April though guaranteed that she won’t be winning any America’s Choice voting when she called all of us viewers out by calling us names and how horrible of people that we are by voting for Janelle instead of one of the wonderful people in her group. At least one of them is going home this week is all I have to say. I am getting caught up on my House Calls shows and I watched Jennifer when she was on there after she was evicted and Marcellas and Gretchen were having to bite their lips on wanting to call her out on a lot of her lies. They obviously can’t say too much as they might effect the outcome of the game with any kind of info that they might give the evicted houseguests on the way to the sequester house. I can’t wait though for the town hall type thing at the end when they get to interview all of them. It was great last year so I can’t wait to see if Marcellas and Gretchen get to interview the group again this year.
It looks like at the moment that the American Dreams 15 minute ending is not going to air. NBC is not going through with it but we have yet to figure out why and also why they teased us with the possibility. For a network that has slid so fast, they sure don’t seem to be making any more friends.
Some TV on DVD news this week. An announcement has finally been made for Full House Season 2. It will be out in stores on December 6th. Season 1 came out early this year and many people including myself have been wondering where the other seasons are and now we have an announcement. A surprise out of the Warner Brothers camp this week as an announcement has been made regarding season 5 of Gilmore Girls. It will be released on December 13th. Season 4 is set to come out on September 27th. The season sets of this show have been getting released 6 months apart so they must have wanted to speed it up and get the next season out with it being 3 months in between releases. Season 6 is about to premiere on the WB so in December all the past seasons will be out on DVD. I highly recommend this show again to anyone that hasn’t seen it. It’s a great mix of comedy and drama. I think it is the best written show on TV right now.
For anyone that is interested in ABC programming, DirecTV now has the ABC Fall Schedule 30 minute preview show going this week. It airs every 30 minutes 24 hours a day for the entire week and is on channel 101. I didn’t watch a lot of it but I saw a big piece on Lost. It looked good from what I saw but I don’t watch the show to know what is going on. NBC’s was on last week but I’m still really bitter over the American Dreams cancellation so I didn’t exactly feel like giving any of their new shows a look.
American Idol auditions set to happen in Memphis have been canceled. Many of the evacuees from Hurricane Katrina are heading into Memphis. The producers of the show didn’t want to add a further burden to the city with all that Memphis is trying to do to help with the hurricane. Fox released this statement, “Out of respect for the city’s citizens, their public services, and the need to focus public safety efforts on the victims, this decision was made.” Auditions in Denver and Chicago will go on as planned.
The MTV Video Music Awards were this past weekend and were held in Miami. I didn’t watch it and I didn’t ever watch last year’s awards show now that I think about it. This awards show used to be must see viewing for me as it was one of the big things I looked forward to on TV every year. I just didn’t care this year and actually forgot many times that it was even on. MTV has just lost major steam in the last couple of years. I have heard that the show wasn’t all that great. They need to take the VMA’s back to New York to Radio City and quit trying this Miami experiment. Green Day did win 7 awards at the VMA’s and were the big winners of the night. I guess the VMA surprise for the night was MC Hammer performing. I didn’t see it but checked out the pictures from the VMA’s and saw his in there. I was happy to hear that Kelly Clarkson won a couple of awards which were People’s Choice Video and Best Female Video for “Since You’ve Been Gone”.
I was messing around on Yahoo the other day and got to playing more with the Yahoo Music section of the site. I really enjoy the music video part of it. They have pretty much every music video that you can think of. Well, I started playing with the radio part of Yahoo. You can give ratings on what songs you like or what artists you like. It will then start to go by your ratings and play songs that it thinks you will like. Basically you can make your own radio station. It is really fun to play with. Of course, it does play songs that I’m not interested in and also singers that I’m not interested in but it can’t be perfect. So, I now have my own radio station on there and it’s actually public listening too.
That’s all I have for you this week. Have a safe Labor Day weekend!!
