I thought I would start talking about the Batman Begins DVD. The DVD came out on Tuesday and I’ve bought it but have not watched it yet. I have yet to see the movie at all so I’m looking forward to it. I had to comment on the popularity of this thing. While I was buying it, there were a bunch of other people in line with me buying the DVD. I talked to the guy working there about the DVD and he said that the DVD was selling really fast. They were giving out a free lithograph with it and he was talking about how low his stack of lithographs already was that early on in the day. One thing that I want to advise to all of you is that you may have to dig a little to find the Deluxe Edition. I have noticed at Circuit City and at Wal-Mart that they have the regular one disc movie in their displays. This contains no extras!! If you want extras, you have to buy the deluxe edition. I have not seen any of the deluxe editions sitting out in the Batman Begins store displays that I saw so be sure to look in other places in the store besides the display. I had one guy ask me in line where I found the Deluxe Edition at as he couldn’t find it and I pointed it out to him. So, take note and make sure of what version that you are getting. The single disc of the movie itself is going for about $15 in most stores. The Deluxe Edition is going for about $23 in most stores.
Survivor saw a big shake up tonight. It was announced that there would be a tribal council for both tribes and no team immunity. There was however an individual immunity. The winning tribe of the reward challenge then got to compete for individual immunity. Rafe then won it when Judd, who was way behind in the puzzle challenge, gave Rafe the answer. Why did he do that? I have no idea!! I know he wasn’t going to win but why not just let it play out with the rest of the tribe. Rafe was then told that he would be able to sit in on the other tribe’s tribal council and be able to give individual immunity to someone on the other tribe. No real surprises tonight on who was voted out from both tribes. My real surprise is Judd. What in the world is he doing? Is he trying to give away a million dollars? His mouth never quits running and he is arrogant as can be. He gets more and more arrogant every week. He has to learn to sit back some or he will be voted off very soon. I’m looking forward to the week he is voted off. A definite feud has been heating up between Bobby John and Jamie. They went nose to nose tonight and it almost broke into a fight. Both of their reasoning for the confrontation was that they are just two competitive people from the south. According to them, people from the south are more hot tempered.
There seems to be a packaging problem when it comes to the new He-Man Masters Of The Universe season 1 DVD set. People are complaining that they are getting sets that have loose discs and many are finding discs that are scratched up. The company behind the sets, BCI, released a statement today about it and said that a different tray was used in production instead of what was supposed to have been used. BCI has said that they will be happy to replace any discs that are scratched or are bad at no cost to customers. To report any disc problems, send info to this email address and tell the nature of the scratches and which discs they are: info@bcieclipse.com. I haven’t bought it but wanted to let you know what I have heard about it in case you have bought it or are planning on buying it.
Here is a bunch of various stuff. Spike TV is going to pay 40 million dollars for all 6 Star Wars movies. They will start being shown on the network in April 2008. Survivor reruns are now just airing on Wednesday nights on OLN. They air 3 episodes back to back to back beginning at 6:00pm. They are now 6 episodes into the 4th season of Marquesas. Survivor Pearl Islands will be released on DVD on February 7, 2006. The 7th season of the Amazing Race will be in stores on December 20th. This is the season that Rob & Amber and Joyce & Uchenna appeared on. Some of the cast will be doing audio commentaries on various episodes including the names I just mentioned. Former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright will appear on this week’s Gilmore Girls which will feature Rory’s 21st birthday party.
This week’s Amazing Race. One thing was really obvious to me on this week’s episode and that is that the Schroeder family needed to quit listening to the father. He kept making mistakes while Stassi was making good decisions. They found out about the name of the mobile home park but the father didn’t believe that would be it. So, that got them behind. Then, they get there and are having to pick between mobile homes each of which have different departure times. There was still an earlier time available but the father went ahead and went with what they found which was a 20 minute later departure time. The Schroeder’s have had a rough year as they live in New Orleans. Their house was flooded and basically destroyed. They stayed with the Rogers Family in northern Louisiana to seek refuge as they met each other on the Amazing Race. Hopefully things will get better for them in the near future.
The WB is making some moves early in this TV season. The Friday lineup is being switched up. Living With Fran and Blue Collar TV are being pulled off the schedule for the moment. What I Like About You will now get a full hour as a new episode will air at 7:00 followed by a rerun at 7:30. Reba stays at 8:00 and Twins has been moved to 8:30. Blue Collar TV has struggled on Sunday nights ratings wise and that spot will be filled by an encore of the week’s Supernatural episode. Living With Fran and Blue Collar TV are still in production and are expected to be back later in the season. The new show Related has been airing encore episodes on Monday night following 7th Heaven. Well, now the new episodes are going to air on Mondays after 7th Heaven with the encore episodes airing in its usual Wednesday night time slot. The feeling seems to be that the WB has decided to not try and compete against Lost on ABC in that time slot.
I mentioned last week about a live action stage performance of the Buffy musical episode Once More With Feeling at Counterpulse Theatre. They are a non profit arts group. They sold out all of the tickets but now there is a problem. Fox TV attorneys have now stepped in saying that it violates copyrights and demanded the shows be canceled. Counterpulse has canceled all the shows as they have little choice. Joss Whedon has said that he has no problem with them doing the performances. They have sent this info on to Fox but there isn’t any way that Fox will budge on this one.
There are plenty more new Buffy/Angel action figures getting set for release. The latest from Angel are Amy Acker figures including one of Fred and one of Illyria. I’ll have to get a Fred one. They also have a new one of Angel. Others from Angel that are new are Lorne from the House Always Wins episode, and 4 different figures of Wesley. The Buffy Once More With Feeling figure has been released and there is going to be a Dawn figure from Once More With Feeling in the future. I highly recommend checking out www.tvmerch.com. This is where I have shopped for Buffy/Angel stuff for many years. They have a TON of Buffy/Angel merchandise!! They also have many other show merchandise that they sell stuff for including Alias, Charmed, Smallville, Roswell, Veronica Mars, and many others. I love this site and I think you will too!!
NBC has taken themselves out of negotiations for Nascar coverage. NBC’s contract is up after the 2006 season. ESPN/ABC seems to be the front runner to get Nascar back on their networks. Fox will likely keep the first half of the season of course but the second half of the season is up for grabs after next year. NBC feels that Nascar’s asking price for broadcast rights is too high. It looks like with this new deal that Fox will now get the Daytona 500 every year now. I am not at all disappointed with this news as I think NBC’s coverage of Nascar this year has been horrible. Moving Allen Bestwick out of the broadcast booth was a joke. There are more commercials than ever on NBC this year. They often miss things going on in the race or miscall stuff. It’s kind of ironic that ESPN/ABC could get the coverage back after how badly they got treated on the way out in 2000. ESPN was then not allowed even inside the track after the new deal went into effect. I thought that was horrible to treat them the way they did after how ESPN covered Nascar when no one else would.
That’s it for another week. Have a great weekend.
