The Amazing Race is down to the final 3 teams with the 2 hour finale on CBS this Tuesday. These are 3 strong teams that have been strong throughout with the Linz, Bransen, and Weaver families. The Bransen’s may be the team to beat as they have been tough throughout. As much as I dislike the Weavers for their attitude, they should be in the final 3 as they were definitely better in the race than the Godlewski’s. I’m still pulling for the Linz family to win this thing but would be satisfied with the Bransen’s winning too. It should be a showdown in this 2 hour finale!!
We are down to the final 4 on Survivor with the 3 hour finale taking place this Sunday night on CBS at 7pm. We are down to Stephenie, Rafe, Danni, and Lydia. Tonight’s episode saw a big time shakeup happening that resulted from a reward challenge. Cindy won the reward challenge which was a new 2006
vehicle. Jeff then talked about the car reward jinx as no one who has ever won a car on Survivor ever has won the million dollars. He offered her a chance to get rid of the jinx and that if she gave up her car then the other four that didn’t win the challenge would each get a car. What a horrible position to be put in!! You can keep your car but then you take away the four cars for the other people. Cindy decided to keep her car and took Stephenie with her on the reward. Stephenie said that Cindy made the right decision and that she should keep the car for herself cause she won it. The others at camp didn’t feel the same. Rafe and Danni felt the opposite that she should have given up the car so they would each get a car. Lydia didn’t seem to really have a point of view on it. This ended up costing Cindy and she was voted out at the end of the show. She went out voicing her frustration like Judd last week by saying “I’ll think of all of you when I look at the stars through the sunroof in my new car”. The alliance of 6 is turning on each other as Danni still remains in the running for the money. Cindy got put in a tough spot tonight for sure and her reasoning on keeping the car was a good one. She said that just because she could give these 4 people cars doesn’t mean that they are going to hand over a million dollars to her. Just a tough spot and it just goes to show that sometimes winning reward challenges isn’t a good thing. My prediction for a winner? Hmm, I think Stephenie is the one to beat. Rafe has also been strong here toward the end. A winner could be hard to predict as it will depend on how the rest of the alliance goes and if Danni sticks around cause of it. Danni could win this whole thing if the alliance keeps voting each other off. Those people are then on the jury and are likely to vote for Danni cause of people getting turned on.
Here is a follow up to last week’s news on Reunion. The show will not go away from it’s current format as a way to hurry and solve the mystery. The show is set to end after 13 episodes which would put the last episode as ending in 1998. The show’s producer had this to say about it, “The show was intricately plotted over 22 episodes to tell the full story of our characters’ lives (and deaths). Because the events of Samantha’s murder are partially reliant on characters we haven’t yet met — and events we haven’t yet seen — there is no way to solve the mystery of her murder without being able to complete the full arc of our story through present-day. I greatly regret that this question along with many others that the series has posed will remain unsolved, and I am deeply grateful for the support of viewers who share this regret.” I could possibly see this as a case where what might happen is what happens with a lot of shows and that is put the DVD set out with the unaired episodes. Well, now that I think about it, I don’t know if they are going to go ahead and finish shooting the episodes. This may be the end of it and we may just get left with never knowing the end of the mystery. That is really annoying. Thanks Fox!! I know Fox has to make room for another one of their classy (sarcasm) reality shows so there is a time slot to put it in.
It looks like that I will be watching the next Dancing With The Stars on ABC in January as WWE diva Stacy Keibler will be on it. I haven’t ever watched it before but when they added Stacy to the lineup, I added it to my TV viewing in January.
We have another Angel alum appearing on the new WB show Supernatural. TV Guide is saying that Julie Benz will make a guest appearance on the show on January 17th.
There is a lot of back and forth going on about the feedback on XM Radio being added to DirecTV. Some people like it and others hate it with a passion. There doesn’t seem to be much middle ground on this issue. DirecTV is apparently getting hit with many complaints from people wanting Music Choice back. The main problem from people that don’t like the new XM Radio is the commercials and the DJ’s talking over music. Music Choice was commercial free. The people that like XM Radio are liking the additional channels that weren’t available on Music Choice. I’m not sure what the percentage is on how many like it and how many don’t but I hear different opinions on it by reading message boards.
Is there something crazy going on in the celebrity world lately? Couples are breaking up left and right.
A brother/sister combination is happening on Arrested Development on January 6th. Justine Bateman is set to guest star on the show which of course stars her brother Jason Bateman.
Comedy Central has said that they are working on some way to air some new episodes of Dave Chappelle’s show. They have 4 episodes worth of material but no studio material taped of Dave introducing the segments. They don’t know for sure how they are going to get around everything but they are planning to air new episodes of the show.
Scottie Pippen’s number will be retired tomorrow night for the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls will be playing the LA Lakers at the United Center and expected to attend the ceremony is Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson, the current coach of the Lakers. It’s great to know his number will be retired. I can’t find anyone covering the game but am hoping that NBA TV might show the ceremony. Scottie was a huge part of the Bulls success and was one of the greats in the team’s history. Scottie was also named in 1997 as one of the top 50 players ever in NBA history. I have many favorite memories of Scottie over the years. He and Michael were one of the best duos to ever play in the NBA. A definite one, two punch. The way he stepped up the season after Michael retired to be the leader of the Bulls was amazing and they should have won the championship in 1994 but were robbed over that garbage foul call on Scottie in Game 5 against the Knicks that I still tremble re-watching today. He is definitely one of the best all around players in history whether it was on offense or defense. One of the big changing moments of the 1991 Finals was when they had Scottie guard Magic Johnson and how he stepped up with that. It was also big in 1998 when he shut down the Pacers guards early in that series on their way to the last championship. Seeing Michael and Scottie together again for the ceremony will be a lot of fun. Scottie definitely earned this honor and a big congratulations to him.
Nascar has announced their new TV deal and it is a wild one to follow. ABC/ESPN is back in and NBC is out. After Nascar jumped away from ESPN 5 years ago, they are now partners once again. These changes start in 2007. The contract is an 8 year deal. Fox will of course retain the first half of the season. They will now get the Daytona 500 every year. TNT who was partnering with NBC to cover Nascar for the last few years wanted to stay involved in Nascar despite NBC pulling out. TNT will get 6 races in the new deal. TNT will get 6 races in a row right after Fox ends their first half season coverage. TNT will get the Pepsi 400 from Daytona as one of those 6. ABC/ESPN will get the last 17 races of the year. ESPN2 will be the home to the Busch series but ABC will show at least 3 Busch series races. Speed Channel will also get additional Nascar coverage. I’m not sure about how qualifying and practice will work out with this new deal as they show most of both of that now. I do know that Speed Channel is going to be the home of the All Star Race in May. They also will get the preliminary Daytona 500 races except the Budweiser Shootout which will remain on Fox. The money part of it is big for sure with Fox paying $208 million annually while TNT will pay $80 million annually and ABC/ESPN paying $270 million. Wow. My thoughts on this is that I am glad that NBC coverage will soon be gone because their coverage this year was terrible. I still never understood the decision to take Allen Bestwick out of the booth. I think ABC and ESPN will do a good job as they are used to covering Nascar for many decades. The Speed Channel decision is kind of iffy to me because Speed isn’t available in as many homes as it needs to be. Putting the all star race on Speed Channel is kind of odd cause of that reason. I don’t have a problem with it personally as I love the Speed coverage but am thinking of all the people that don’t have Speed Channel.
