Well, I made my picks last week in who I thought would win in the big two reality TV finales this week and I did pretty well. I picked the Linz’s to win the Amazing Race which they did. I got close on Survivor. I picked Stephenie and she got into the final 2 only to lose to Danni.
A very good season finale to Survivor Guatemala. I said last week that I thought Stephenie would pull off the win and she almost did. I also did mention that Danni could win this thing if she could get to the final two cause the jury would be likely to vote for her with all the members of the alliance of six that had been turned on and voted out. That is what happened and Danni won it. This was one of the toughest odds that a Survivor winner had had cause she was up against 6 people that were solid in their alliance. She just waited for that alliance to crumble and chose her comments well on what to say to people. That last challenge was amazing with it coming down to Danni and Stephenie. Stephenie was barely hanging on and finally had to give up. We’ve said this all along but she is flat tough. Both of these ladies are. Rafe made a few mistakes in this game but was strong overall. His last and biggest mistake was after the challenge and seeing how hard Stephenie had fought to win the last immunity that he told Danni to forget their agreement and to take whoever she wanted to the final two. Then when Danni picked Stephenie, he got bitter over it and voted for Steph. It would be one thing if she held to the agreement and took Steph but Rafe let her out of it. I like Rafe though and he played a good game. The jury questioning is always my favorite part of the whole season and it wasn’t a letdown at all. How ready was Judd to get up there and let his feelings be known? I still just have to laugh at him cause all he does is point out people lying to him when all he did was lie in the whole game. He is one of my least favorite people ever in Survivor history. The rest of the jury wasn’t as harsh such as Jamie and Cindy. I thought they would be more brutal. That thunderstorm that they got hit with after they ate the chicken was just amazing. There is no way I would have eaten that. Overall, a very good season of Survivor and it was a lot of fun to watch. The next season will be in Panama with talk of exiling voted out people to a deserted island. I’m looking forward to the next season already.
It was down to the wire in the Amazing Race finale and I am happy to say that the Linz family won this season’s Amazing Race. It came down to them and the Bransens in a geography challenge right at the finish line. They were neck and neck but the Linz’s finished it first and sprinted for the finish line. It was a fun finale and it was every bit of the showdown between the three families that I thought it would be. The Linz’s and Bransen’s were a lot of fun to watch all season. That show is such an adrenaline rush especially when you have a team that you are pulling for. All three teams gave it all they had for sure. The challenge inside the stadium was amazing with them having to find three plane tickets on the back of three chairs in the entire stadium. I am happy to see the Bransens finish in second place as they had been strong throughout. It’s like I said last week that it came down to the three strongest teams in the finale. I didn’t like the Weavers’ attitudes through most of the race but they were strong and made a good showing. All three families were on CBS’s Early Show on Wednesday and the Linz family said that they are giving half of the money to their parents and splitting the rest with the family. They are four of seven siblings. I would also like to say that I will happily eat every bit of my words with how I thought before the season started that this family edition was going to be lame and I am happy to say that I couldn’t have been more wrong!!
Jeff Probst has signed on to remain as the host of Survivor for many years to come. Probst had been considering retirement but has changed his mind. His quote was really good that makes complete sense. He said “I was thinking about retiring and spending my time traveling to exotic locations around the world, meeting new and interesting people. Then I realized, uh, wait a second, I’m already doing that with ‘Survivor’ and getting paid for it as well.” This is great news cause Survivor wouldn’t at all be the same show without him.
The reality finales this week did good ratings. CBS is saying that almost 21 million people watched the Survivor finale on Sunday night. The Survivor finale brought in the biggest audience that the finale for the show has had in its last three editions. The first hour did a 12.6 rating, second hour did a 12.0, and the reunion show held the audience for the most part at a 10.5 rating. The Amazing Race 2 hour finale brought in a 7.1 rating overall number. The first hour had a 6.8 and the second hour jumped to a 7.3.
Talk to you next week.
