Here are the ratings from last week with Idol, the Olympics, Survivor, and the Dancing With The Stars finale. American Idol finished first with a 13.2. Second place went to the Olympics with a 11.2 which featured their biggest event, figure skating. Dancing With The Stars was next with a 9.7. Survivor came in next with a 8.5. Dancing With The Stars jumped up to a 12.8 in its second hour. The Olympics jumped to a 15.4. So, it looks like when Survivor and Idol went off, those fans may have jumped over to those shows. Strong night for all the shows considering that they all went head to head. It looks like the fans stayed loyal to their shows.
Speaking of the Olympics, I just could not get into the winter games. I wanted to get interested but just couldn’t for some reason. Maybe it was because I had so much other programming on to watch. I just couldn’t get interested.
Four more people were sent home tonight on American Idol. Tonight was one of those nights where things went as expected as far as who went home and who was in the bottom three. Well, except for Kevin. I was kind of surprised to see him in the bottom three. Going home tonight was Brenna Gethers, Heather Cox, David Radford, and Jose Penala. Not any surprises to me in that group. I said last week that I was shocked that Brenna survived the vote but she went home this week. I seriously think she got on people’s nerves badly the whole time she was on the show, contestants and viewers included. I am still putting my votes in for Kellie Pickler. Pick Pickler!! I still believe a girl will win Idol this year. The only way that I see a guy winning is Chris Daughtry. I’ve been saying how good he is and he is stepping up more and more every week. He has a very good and unique voice in this competition. Ace should make some noise in this too. I still say it’s a girl’s year but if a guy wins, it will be Chris. My predictions for final 12 are this: Of the girls, I am taking Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Paris Bennett, Lisa Tucker, Mandisa, and Ayla Brown. With the guys, I am picking Chris Daughtry, Ace Young, Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin, Will Makar, and Gedeon McKinney. Now, I’ll look even further ahead but keep in mind that a favorite always goes home earlier than expected with a shocker. My final four picks are: Katharine McPhee, Paris Bennett, Lisa Tucker, and Chris Daughtry. Final two are: Katharine McPhee and Paris Bennett. If you have any Idol predictions, please send them to me. I’d love to hear what you’re thinking about it. Carrie Underwood performed “Jesus Take The Wheel” on tonight’s Idol show. It’s always wild to see the previous year’s winner back on the Idol stage. I thought it was hilarious that after her performance, she went and stood in the corner of the stage in the usual contestant spot to wait for the judge’s critique. Speaking of Carrie, she is set to launch her 41 city tour. She is scheduled to be in Nashville on June 10th for Fan Fair.
Last season’s American Idol runner up, Bo Bice, performed this morning on Regis and Kelly. I really liked the two songs that he performed and I may have to get his CD.
I signed up for our local CBS channel’s Survivor and Amazing Race games. It is basically a questionnaire where you have to predict what will happen on every week’s episode of both shows. You get 10 points for each question that you have right. You can win free Survivor and Amazing Race stuff. I’ll take some free stuff of each show!! These games should be fun. I did pretty decent on the premiere of the Amazing Race considering that I only had profiles to go by to pick anything. I got the winner of the leg of the race right but someone predicted everything. Cheaters!! ha ha!! This should be a lot of fun and it will make me cheer harder for my picks while I yell “free stuff”.
Stacy Keibler finished 3rd on Sunday night’s Dancing With The Stars finale. Drew Lachey won it with Jerry Rice finishing 2nd. The crowd was legitimately stunned Sunday night when it was announced that Stacy finished 3rd. She fought an ankle injury in the final week and you definitely couldn’t tell Sunday night that she was injured. It was said this week that she had a doctor on hand that would set her ankle back in place after every performance for the last few weeks. Ouch!! I think her finishing 3rd really took the suspense out of the rest of the show as Jerry Rice had an uphill battle going against Drew Lachey. Stacy did amazing on the show and hopefully she can keep going on this wave into the entertainment world.
After watching this week’s Gilmore Girls, the question got even bigger on the promise of a wedding this season and who’s it is going to be. We now have a new one in the running when we got blindsided by Lane and Zack getting engaged. We also saw Rory move back in with Paris after both of them had broken up with their boyfriends. I read where they have signed up for Logan to be on next season which didn’t exactly thrill me. This coming week’s episode will be a rerun that featured the return of Jess this season which was a really good episode.
I heard an interesting discussion on the Star Wars movies this week. The question was if you were showing the Star Wars movies to someone that hadn’t seen it before, which way would you think would be the best way to watch it? Would you watch it the way everyone else watched it with episodes 4, 5, and 6 and then 1, 2, and 3? Would you watch it with going episodes 1 through 6? The argument was interesting both ways. If you watch it 1-6, then you miss out on a lot by knowing the Darth Vader father story before it hits you in the later movies. I originally thought it might be cool to watch it 1-6 originally but after hearing the argument, I’m not so sure. I’m in the middle ground now with myself leaning toward how it was originally seen with 4-6 followed by 1-3. Do you have any thoughts on it? Send me your thoughts. I love feedback anyway so if you have an opinion, send it to me.
I don’t normally watch the Oscars or pay much attention to it basically cause I normally haven’t watched any of the nominated movies. Due to the Shot By Shot movie game online that I participate in, Oscar picks for the major categories are a bonus round and I’m all about some points. So, I’ll be watching with interest and I still have to fill out my Oscar prediction ballot.
Several former cast members of the West Wing are coming back for the show’s last episodes such as Rob Lowe and Mary Louise Parker.
The N Network has picked up Dawson’s Creek and Summerland repeats to air in their primetime lineup. Summerland starts on May 1st at 6pm. Dawson’s Creek will start on September 1st.
ABC has FINALLY announced plans on when Alias is returning with its final episodes. It will return for a 2 hour block on Wednesday, April 19th. ABC has also announced that Hope and Faith is set to come back after being bumped for several weeks because of Dancing With The Stars. ABC announced that the show will now be on Tuesday nights. I’m not really surprised by the move as a few months ago ABC put it on a Tuesday night one week to likely test the waters. The show did well on Tuesday so we’ll see how it does there as it has always on Friday nights.
I checked out the Suncoast going out of business sale last week. Everything is at least 30% off in the store. The only problem with that is that DVD’s at Suncoast are so overpriced that 30% off still doesn’t compete with prices at other stores. When I heard that so many Suncoast stores were closing, it wasn’t a surprise due to how overpriced things are there. From my experience, I don’t know if I’d recommend buying too many DVD’s there even with this 30% off deal. Here is an example. I am wanting to buy that Best and Worst Of American Idol DVD set. Suncoast had it priced at $34.99. Even with the 30% off, it equals up to about $25. I can get it at Best Buy regular priced at $19.99 and at Wal-Mart for about $22. So, there you go. Their magazines are all 50% off which is an excellent deal as I picked up the high priced Buffy/Angel yearbook magazine!! I believe that they have their holiday movies for 70% off so that is a deal if you can find a holiday movie that you are wanting. Some people are finding some really good ones in there from what I’ve read. Toys are still 30% off. I’m speaking of the local store here so it may be different percent off at stores in other areas.
