44 episodes. 2 seasons. Done in 3 weeks and 2 days. Not bad for me. I’m talking about Veronica Mars. Yep, I am caught up and ready for Tuesday’s season three premiere. I love this show!! As far as my thoughts on season two, I thought season one was better overall. On the other hand, I enjoyed the season two finale and wrap up more than the season one finale. Note to self. Don’t watch season finales of this show right before I am about to go to sleep cause I was wide awake after how good that finale was. That finale left you running the gauntlet of emotions through that thing. I had theories on how it would end. Wrong again!! I love how this show keeps you guessing and when you think you have it figured out, they rip that theory from you and tear it to pieces. I will be very interested to see how things roll over into the new season. I’m amazed too at all the guest stars that keep popping up on the show. The main cast is great in itself but the guest stars add a ton to it also. If you’re a Buffy fan, the fact that we get to see Alyson Hannigan and Charisma Carpenter together in a scene in season two is really cool. Season three premieres Tuesday night at 8pm on the new CW Network following Gilmore Girls. This was the dream pairing from the CW and also from fans and the entertainment industry. Hopefully, both shows can benefit from one another. I highly recommend watching this show!! It is one of the best shows on TV. My original plan was to find a clip of the first 10 minutes of the series premiere to put in here to see if I could get some people hooked. I couldn’t find one so I’ll go with my other plan. Here are some promo clips to watch. Can’t wait to watch season three!!
I am really enjoying watching these live feeds over again with Big Brother. I’ve seen several things that I didn’t see the first time around. Funny moment with the houseguests being outside when they see and hear this bird. It is looking at them and Jase jokes that it’s going to go get all of its friends and say “look, now the humans are in a cage and we’re free”. It was a hilarious moment. This same conversation was pretty much them sitting around bored outside but they were coming up with some funny things to talk about. Boogie was doing an imitation of the America’s Choice question promo. Boogie said “the houseguests want a pet. Should we give them? A. a 5th tarantula, B. a dead crow. C. a poop flinging monkey”. That got a big laugh which led into Will talking about the pig that they were given in season 2 and telling some funny stories about that. Jase and Will then started making all kinds of funny noise into their mics with Kaysar just sitting there cracking up at them. Funny stuff to watch. I cracked up several times watching all that. Getting away from the funny stuff, there was a really good conversation between Boogie and Kaysar where Kaysar was telling him about his culture. Really interesting stuff.
The season premiere of Gilmore Girls was Tuesday night and I was very interested to see what the overall feel of the show would be with the Palladinos no longer writing the show. The dialogue was good. The drama was still there and there was some of the comedy thrown in. The stuff with Taylor and Luke was funny as always. Paris starting to help give SAT test tips to students could be very funny. It was funny on this episode for sure. Not a good start storyline wise if you’re a Luke and Lorelei fan.
An article that I read yesterday morning talked of how there isn’t really any big hits yet out of the new shows this season. The ratings showed that people were willing to check out the new shows but we’ll see if viewers stay with them. The ratings are fine with several of them and the networks seem happy but there hasn’t been a big hit yet.
My only complaint about the new TV Guide is that the cover often features the same shows. It seems that it’s always Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, or Desperate Housewives on the cover. I’d just like to see more variety like it used to be.
The CW Network is off to a good start for the most part. 7th Heaven got a 2.9 with it’s premiere. The ratings are down though as it is down quite a bit from its season premiere last season. The new show Runaway only got a 1.5 which obviously isn’t good. Gilmore Girls premiered with a 3.1. One Tree Hill premiered at a 2.5 last night. Most of the returning shows seem to be holding their audience. Smallville and Supernatural premiered tonight so we’ll have to see how they do.
Shakeup on Survivor tonight as the four tribes were combined into two.
James Marsters has been cast to play in a new movie that is a romantic drama named “P.S. I Love You”. The movie begins shooting in October.
Comedy Central has picked up David Spade’s show for another season.
CBS’s new show Jericho held pretty much all of its premiere audience in its second episode last night.
It looks like December 19th is the release date for season 9 of The Simpsons. That is the early word on it.
I’ve read several reviews of the My Name Is Earl season 1 DVD and there are several music replacements on it. Just letting you know in case you are getting it.
NBC has taken the evening news ratings lead back after Katie Couric’s debut on CBS.
I got to listen to a friend’s XM Radio system the other day. DirecTV does offer the music channels from XM Radio on their service so I listen to those but DirecTV doesn’t offer the talk stuff such as CNN, E!, Nascar, or anything like that. So, I got to flip around the stations and see what it was like. I can definitely see why people like satellite radio so much.
Here are the TV on DVD releases for Tuesday, October 3rd. Andromeda (season 5), Forever Knight (Trilogy Part 3), McLeod’s Daughters (season 1), Medium (season 2), Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (season 1), Return To The Planet Of The Apes (complete series), South Park (The Hits – Volume 1), Stargate SG-1 (season 9 slim set), Three’s Company (season 8), Tom and Jerry Tales (Volume 1), Twilight Zone (complete definitive collection)
