Big Brother 8: Let’s get into the week of Big Brother which considering what has happened in recent weeks was a VERY calm week. Not a lot of drama going on. Lots of deals trying to be made and people looking to further themselves in the game. Last week, Jessica won the HOH and Amber and Jameka knew they were in trouble. The week saw a lot of scrambling and deal making going on. Lots of people pleading their case to Jessica. Jessica did tell Jameka that she wasn’t going to nominate her which she didn’t. The nominations by Jessica were for Zach and Amber with the target being Amber. The veto competition saw Eric finally get to play in his first one as Zach let him in on the houseguest’s choice. Eric won the veto competition. More deal making went on and more talk on whether he would use it or not. Eric did not use the veto. Amber and Jameka continued to get in Jessica’s ear and make Jessica wonder if she made the right choice. They really worked her over hard this week and I felt bad for Jessica. Zach was hurt over being nominated as he thought he was solid with Jessica. Zach has been playing both sides however which any of you watching should know by now. The people in the house knew as well. Amber went on a rant to pretty much everyone in the house telling people in separate conversations that she wanted “good people” to win this game. I’m not sure who all she considers good people cause she changed it from conversation to conversation. After her big speech to Jessica, she was also talking trash on Jessica as well. Amber just did not do well at all with her planning and deal making this week. America’s Vote was for Amber to be evicted getting 78% of the vote. So, Eric’s vote was known cause of that. Today saw Dick go off on Zach for a moment saying that he knew he was playing both sides and was going home. Dick had said something last night about doing that to throw Zach off on his HOH competition as Dick knew that Amber was going home. However, Dick has been wanting to call him out on it for a while now. Amber and Zach were both in the dark on who was going home but Amber was believing it was going to be a tie with Jess being the tie breaker to keep her. Amber was voted out on a 3-1 vote. Eric, Dick, and Daniele all voted for Amber. Jameka was the lone vote for Zach. Amber was interviewed afterwards and Julie Chen asked the question that I definitely wanted her to ask. Julie asked how do you determine who the “good” people are in this game? I about fell off the couch when Amber went into her speech of what the anti good people do considering that she did everything that she mentioned and did a lot of it this week. She lied, made deals, talked trash on people, and just about everything that she said. LOL. I just hope that she does realize that this is a game and doesn’t take this game personally. Next up is the HOH competition. Jameka can’t play due to her HOH restrictions from the veto competition a few weeks ago. Jessica can’t play cause of being the outgoing HOH. It’s down to Eric, Dick, Daniele, and Zach to determine who will be HOH this week. The competition is a runway of sorts with them having a “tea party” and having to fill up a huge bowl. Doesn’t seem like a big deal until we see the size of the tea cup that they have to use to fill it. This will take hours as the running back and forth to fill it was, according to Julie, the equivalent of seven miles. Another twist is that they are putting spraying butter down as well every so often to make it slicker for the houseguests. The competition was underway as the show went off the air. It was announced at the end of the show that next Thursday’s episode will be a live double eviction. I am guessing it will be another Big Brother Fast Forward episode to do the second eviction like they did last year. It was also announced that Big Brother 6 & 7’s Janelle will be hosting the veto competition this week.
What Has Happened Since The Live Show Ended: I’m watching the HOH competition on the feeds as I type this. Eric has already fallen a couple of times. Jessica and Jameka are talking as they watch the competition. The feeds are packed tonight so the feeds aren’t the best of quality tonight. The HOH competition just ended almost two hours exactly since when it began. I won’t spoil you on who won in case you don’t want to know. There were some extra twists thrown into the HOH competition as well including a call from home. Eric did hurt his back when he fell and has been to the diary room to ask to get it checked out.
Other Thoughts on the week: When I saw that the America’s Player task was for Eric to kiss a houseguest and if Jessica won it, my immediate fear was that the show would portray that Eric kissed Jessica for the task instead of true feelings. Why? They kissed about 16 hours or so before the America’s Player question was asked. I was also waiting to pounce and rip the producers if they aired the footage out of order or tried to portray any other way that it happened. My reaction of the kiss was pretty much the same as Jessica’s when she said “it’s about time”. I have talked for several weeks now how fun I think that the two of them are together. This has been the romance I’ve enjoyed watching this season. The segment with Eric’s family tonight was a good one talking about Eric’s game and also the relationship with Jessica. It looks like seeing Eric with another girl has made his ex miss him a bit more. Interesting that Jessica was wanting Eric to use the veto as she is in fear of Dick and Daniele turning on them with her wanting to make a power move in the game. I really felt bad for Jessica this week. Amber and Jameka were glued to her and giving her all kinds of guilt for everything. Amber kept pushing the “I want good people to win this game”. Now, who those good people are depends on who she was talking to at the time. Jessica ended up crying at one point cause she was afraid that she was doing the wrong thing. They showed a little of this tonight but she talked to Eric about it and he assured her that he is not just playing his own game but is playing the game for both of them. This is absolutely true as he is always looking out for both of their best interest. The Dick/Daniele arguing. There has been a lot of speculation in the house with people wondering if it is for show to show that their alliance isn’t tight. I don’t really buy into that theory after watching many of their arguments. There is a lot of tension between the two of them that erupts from time to time. Amber called Eric evil and said that he has no soul for not using the veto. She called it a selfish move. Umm, yeah. The plan is for each person to win the game. If you’re wondering what in the world Eric was doing on the monitor at the beginning of the live show tonight, that was his Godfather impersonation that he has been cracking up the houseguests with. It makes them laugh and it is a funny impression. Odd that they have yet to show the sequester house yet. We found out tonight that Eric has made $30,000 off of the America’s tasks so far completing 17 of 24 tasks if I remember right.
What You Missed On The Live Feeds: Early Sunday morning saw the kissing happen between Eric and Jessica. They stayed up talking in the HOH room for a while and then this happened before they were going to sleep. Eric told Jessica very early yesterday morning that he was the phantom votes that people were trying to figure out and also admitted to the mustard incident. Daniele was not happy at all about the fact that she didn’t get to talk to Nick while he was there for Power Of 10. She was definitely sad about it. One thing too that should be pointed out is that even after the houseguests were shown the results of the Power Of 10 episode, the producers would not allow them to discuss it. The houseguests would joke trying to get around it saying “you know that thing we’re not allowed to talk about”. Big Brother was getting furious over it. It was clear that things did not go well for Amber on the show as she was noticeably depressed when she got back to the house. Daniele also told the houseguests about Amber’s mood on the way back to the house. Daniele seems to realize that things are done with her and her boyfriend out of the house. One thing not shown on the show was the meeting between Eric, Jessica, Dick, and Daniele where they made sure that everything was fine with their alliance. They talked game for a while and had a very good meeting. They spent a lot of time trying to come up with a new name for their alliance. They came up with the LJC, Little Julie Chen’s. A rarity in the Big Brother house on Sunday. Rain drops were falling outside while the houseguests had been put on lockdown outside. Funny with Zach doing impersonations of Big Brother calling them such as “Zach, please go to the diary room”. Zach was saying stuff like “Big Brother, you’re very expensive mics are getting wet”. There are VERY few times in Big Brother history that it has rained. The houseguests complained for about a week that the washing machine wasn’t working. It didn’t seem to be getting fixed with any kind of hurry up. The houseguests played spin the bottle over the week with them asking questions. Amber asked who would be evicted this week. It landed on her. She spun it again and it landed on her. Needless to say that she wasn’t happy. LOL. Lots of games being played all week as it has pretty much become a late night tradition for the house. Eric and Jameka are huge Cosby Show fans but I think Eric has her on trivia. The two continue to ask each other trivia questions about the show.
Big Brother Videos: My goal with this each week is to find some cool videos that might entertain you and show some of the funny moments in the house that aren’t being shown on the show.
The Power Of 10 got its highest ratings to date with help from Big Brother. Big Brother 8’s Amber and Daniele’s appearance on Power Of 10 jumped the show to 9.7 million overall viewers. The highest ratings of the hour came in the first half hour when Amber and Daniele competed. Big Brother also followed with some of its better ratings of the season. The Big Brother ratings are doing very well this season with them doing their highest rating of the season last week with Jen’s eviction. Also, the web traffic for the show on CBS.com is very good as well. Hitwise.com does research on 10 million users to see where they are going and Big Brother was the most visited TV website at 29%. Second place went to America’s Got Talent at 12%.

The movie box office is about to set records this summer for the highest grossing total summer ever at the box office. The box office passed the $4 billion this past weekend. The totals have surpassed the summer of 2004 as the highest box office summer.
Issue six of the new Buffy The Vampire Slayer season eight comic goes on sale on September 5th. It will see the return of Faith. Good story on this with Brian K. Vaughn being brought back as the writer. He was originally set to write a direct to DVD movie that was going to be based on the Faith character. It didn’t happen and now Joss wants him to write his story for Faith in comic book form. Vaughn has this to say about the new comic: “I’ve always felt that Buffy would translate really well to the comic-book medium. Some of the girls around the world who now have Slayer powers aren’t necessarily good. So when it comes to who will slay a Slayer, Giles turns to Faith. She’s the person to go for, as she says, dirty deeds, done cheap.'” The stuff with Faith appears to be a four issue arc. Vaughn currently writes on the TV show, Lost. Drew Goddard, who is also now a writer on Lost but was also a writer for Buffy and Angel years ago, is set to write issues twelve through fifteen. This is a good sign that the comics are going to around for a while if they are planning that far ahead. If you aren’t familiar with these comics, Joss Whedon and crew are writing the new comics as a season eight of the series. I’ve enjoyed the comics so far.
I picked up season one of Heroes and have watched the first couple of episodes. I had seen the pilot episode before but wanted to watch it again as it has been a while since I’ve seen it. I really like what I have seen so far and am looking forward to watching the rest of the season.
Disney Channel set the record for the highest average of viewers for any summer in the history of cable. Disney averaged 3.1 million viewers during primetime this summer. Obviously, High School Musical 2 helped the cause but the other Disney shows featured in primetime have for sure held their own having a big fan following. The previous holder was 2.9 million last summer by USA Network. Funny that some of the networks are poking holes in it saying that Disney has an advantage over them by not running commercials like other networks have to. Yeah, OK?? So, you’re trying to tell me that if there were more commercials that the teenagers still wouldn’t be tuning to shows and movies on Disney? Give me a break. Yeah, commercials are going to chase them away from watching High School Musical?? Come on now.
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader is set to have some celebrity contestants in November. The winnings of the celebrities will go to charity. Named for the shows are Regis Philbin, Kellie Pickler, Clay Aiken, Tony Hawk, Miss America Lauren Nelson, and Billy Bush.
The Rock will be starring in the new Disney movie, Witch Mountain, which will begin production in March.
An announcement has been made on a release date for the last season of Seinfeld on DVD. The season nine DVD will be in stores on November 6th. Also announced was a series box set where you will be able to buy all 9 seasons of the show in one set. The series set will be released on November 6th as well including 32 discs in the set. An exclusive 226 page book will come with the series box set and include a ton of stuff in it. Marc Rashba, who is the VP of marketing at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, said this about the book: “When the show wrapped, the book, which had taken years to assemble, was privately shared with only the cast and crew. When we were launching the TV-DVD series sets five years ago, we loved it so much, but we took a look, and it was ridiculously expensive to put it out. Now, we reshaped and redesigned it, and we were able to make it happen. It’s the first time the public will get to see it.” The book also comes with a special DVD with a roundtable discussion reuniting Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards, and Larry David. They reflect back on the show and it is supposed to be an hour in length. These are AWESOME exclusives for them to release and I would love to check out the book. My problem is the obvious. What about all of us that have been buying these things as they’ve been released? Hopefully, they’ll do something for us cause these series exclusive things are getting to be annoying for fans that are buying DVD’s of shows already only to not get the exclusives at the end.
Some more news if you are a Seinfeld fan. The New Adventures Of Old Christine will have a reunion of sorts when Jason Alexander guest stars on an episode this season. The show of course stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Not sure when the episode will air.
Comedy Central has renewed South Park for another three seasons which will carry the show on to 2011.
Victoria Beckham is going to be a guest star on an episode of this season’s Ugly Betty.
The new cast for the 5th season of Dancing With The Stars has been named. This season’s contestants will be: Jennie Garth, Mark Cuban, Wayne Newton, Melanie Brown, Marie Osmond, Jane Seymour, Floyd Mayweather, Helio Castronetes, Cameron Mathison, Albert Reed, Sabrina Bryan, and Joise Maran.
