Big Brother 8. WELL, THAT WASN’T AT ALL HOW TONIGHT’S EPISODE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO. LOL. I am so disappointed with how things turned out. My two favorites go out back to back!! Let’s go back to how things all played out over the last week and then get into tonight’s live double eviction episode. We ended off last week with the HOH competition underway where the houseguests had to fill up these huge bowls with tea/water or whatever it was. LOL. The first one to do so would win HOH. The competition went for just about two hours and was won by Zach pretty easily. I watched the competition on the feeds and Zach was ahead throughout. Once Zach won, there was no doubt that he would put up Jessica for eviction to get back at her for putting him up. Dick actually messed up before the live show last week when he called out Zach for playing both sides. He called him out huge yelling at him. Then, Zach wins HOH. Zach puts up Jameka and Jessica for eviction. The veto competition is held which was hosted by Big Brother 6 & 7’s Janelle. Daniele wins HOH and decides not to use the veto. That leaves Jessica and Jameka on the block. That brings us into tonight’s biggest adrenaline rush show of the season which was the Big Brother Fast Forward episode. I was stressing through this whole thing it seemed. A week’s worth of competitions on one live show. The beginning of the show sees Jessica voted out on a 2-1 vote. The vote for her to stay was Eric/America’s vote. Dick and Daniele were the deciding votes. Dick had talked for a couple days now that they were going to go to Jameka ten minutes before the show and offer her a deal to stay. Whether Jameka took it, I don’t know. She may have said no and they still decided to vote out Jessica. Dick and Daniele shatter the alliance and Jessica is voted out. Jessica’s reaction to being voted out was heartbreaking and I really liked the hug of her, Eric, and Jameka. Jessica was interviewed and said that her feelings for Eric were absolutely real and said they’d see if there was anything between them outside of the house. Eric left her a tearful goodbye message saying that he loved her and he would fight on in her honor. This was not a last minute decision to evict Jessica. Dick and Daniele talked about it for several days and I fully expected her to be evicted tonight. I felt so bad for Jessica cause she was talked into sticking with the alliance of four when she really wanted to make the power move last week putting Dick and Daniele on the block. She stuck with the alliance and then they turned on her this week. Jessica has pondered all week on whether getting rid of Amber was the right idea last week but she doesn’t know that Amber was absolutely planning to target her the next week. Eric voiced his major displeasure before the HOH competition when he told Dick and Daniele that he just wished they would have told him that they were voting her out. He had asked Daniele earlier in the week what their plan was saying that if they were voting Jessica out, he wanted to know so they could enjoy their last couple of days together in the house. Daniele told Eric that she was absolutely safe and to not worry. Dick did apologize to Eric saying that it was game strategy on why they had to do it. Julie Chen reveals that we get to still vote on who Eric should target for eviction. I put in about 10 votes for Daniele and she did end up winning the vote. That brings us to the beginning of the fast forward. The HOH competition is held which is between Dick, Daniele, and Eric. Jameka is still not able to play but this is the last HOH that she has to sit out due to the stipulations of the veto competition weeks ago. Eric had the lead near the end but Dick ended up barely winning HOH in a VERY close game. The power goes to Dick and Daniele tonight. Eric’s throwing out the nomination ideas of Daniele and Zach to Dick was all that could be done with America’s vote. If I was him, I wouldn’t have said anything but he at least threw that little hopeless attempt out there anyway. Dick nominates Eric and Jameka for eviction. The veto competition takes place which is won by Zach. Zach decides not to use the veto. Wow, this would have been a huge power play for Zach cause if he would have used it, he could have gotten rid of either Dick and Daniele. But, he didn’t. He said that he was sticking to his alliance with them which they are absolutely turning on him if given the chance. Eric and Jameka stay on the block. Eric goes home on a 2-0 vote with Zach and Daniele being the votes to evict. Not only did they bust up part of the alliance, Dick and Daniele sent both of their alliance members home. Wow. From a game point of view, I can see why they had to get rid of Eric too cause Eric would be going after them if he stayed. I’m still annoyed though. Eric’s interview was good where he said his feelings for Jessica were genuine. He said that America’s Player was frustrating at times cause the votes by America were against what he was needing to do to stay in the house and get further. I’ve said this many times. He said that he did what he could and just hoped that he didn’t mess up Jessica’s game in the process. If I remember right, Eric did earn $40,000 for the tasks that he completed in the house. The HOH competition is also set to be held tonight but the feeds are still blocked out. I am assuming that it is happening right now. So, we’re down to the final four with Dick, Daniele, Zach, and Jameka. Poor Jameka looked like she had her world rocked on the show tonight and just looked really shaken at the end. All of her friends are out of the house and she is on her own against the three. The only way that either Dick and Daniele are going to win this game is if they are against each other in the final two. I really think that Zach may end up winning this game. I am pulling for Jameka though. So, the romance in the house that I have loved watching in the house is now out of there. The two of them were a ton of fun to watch and provided a lot of laughs.
What Has Happened Since The Live Show Ended: The feeds did not come back on till 11pm tonight which is likely due to waiting for the show to air on the west coast. Unusual though for it to take that long. NO SPOILERS HERE. The HOH competition has concluded. The houseguests are eating and are very tired from the night’s events. Jameka and Zach appear to be packing up Eric’s stuff since he didn’t get to pack it due to the surprise eviction. It’s amazing how quiet the house is getting especially losing two houseguests this week. It really is feeling like the end of the game is here. It’s sad.
Other thoughts on the Big Brother week: The HOH competition with the cups was edited pretty well for TV. The competition wasn’t as close as it was seeming to be. Zach was ahead most of the way. Jessica’s phone call that she got from her brother that just got home from Iraq was a really nice moment. I was watching the feeds when she was done with the phone call and she was very happy to have talked to him and very emotional as well. Wow, was Daniele ever glued to Zach this week or what? It’s amazing how her mood and personality changes depending on who is in power. I’m sorry but Daniele drives me nuts especially on the feeds. LOL. I really felt bad for Jessica this week being on the block. She really wanted to make a power play earlier on and put up Dick and Daniele but got talked out of it. Then, Dick and Daniele do the power play to turn on the alliance. The stuff with Eric mimicking Dick was hilarious. One of the better tasks that they have come up with for him to do. Janelle and Dick at the veto competition. How funny was that as well?
What You Missed On The Live Feeds: Janelle was on House Calls on Friday and told that she would be hosting the veto competition later that night. She then made an appearance at Jokers saying that a limo was picking her up at 10:00 to take her to the BB house. The houseguests were on lockdown inside the house for most of the night with no clue that the veto competition was set to take place. Dick was told in the DR that lockdown would end at midnight but did not say anything about a competition. It was funny hearing the houseguests talk about going to sleep early and calling it an early night cause they were tired with them not knowing that their night was just beginning. Dick and Daniele talked about Janelle and Daniele was saying that Janelle told her several times that she liked her. Daniele was feeling great about Janelle telling her that to which Dick replied “I want her phone number”. LOL. Dick and Janelle appeared to be flirting somewhat while she was there. That conversation with Dick and Daniele took place in the workout room with Dick using the treadmill. Zach has been complaining since the nomination ceremony that Eric didn’t even say “thank you” after he took his key out revealing he was safe. Then, the ceremony plays on TV and Eric clearly says THANK YOU. What in the world has Zach been complaining about????!!!! The backyard has had a problem all season. BATS. I kid you not. BATS. I have heard them on many occasions discussing the bats. Eric and Jessica had to duck a bat one night this week that kept flying at them when they were on the hammock. I have video of it here in a moment. There is one person that is in control of the switch on the feeds at certain times of the day that is extremely trigger happy. You can tell when this person is on the job cause 5 million microphone commands start coming to the houseguests and stuff like that. There was one day where three different houseguests got microphone commands within a minute in different parts of the house. Dick heard all of the commands over the speakers and told whoever was charge to chill out. It was pretty funny. The houseguests have caught on to it as well. I get annoyed with this person quite a bit too. LOL. How funny was Eric’s America’s task where he had to mimic a houseguest which America voted on to be Dick? Dick got a huge laugh out of it and it made for some great TV. Dick thought it was hilarious on the feeds and he and Zach continued to laugh about it even when Eric wasn’t around. Dick was convinced that the reason that Eric was doing this was because he lost a bet in the diary room.
Big Brother Videos Of The Week: Again, this is where I’m going to try and find some lighthearted moments in the house for you to watch. Be advised for strong language in these in case of where you are when you are watching these.
A bat invades the backyard of the house from week one which you’ll notice cause Carol is still in the house.
Jessica and Eric run from a bat from this week. Skip ahead to the 3:30 mark for when it happens.
Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. Halloween – $30.5 million. 2. Superbad – $15.8 million. 3. Balls Of Fury – $14.1 million. 4. The Bourne Ultimatum – $13.3 million. 5. Rush Hour 3 – $10.8 million. 6. Mr. Bean’s Holiday – $7.9 million. 7. The Nanny Diaries – $6.5 million. 8. Death Sentence – $5.33 million. 9. War – $5.32 million. 10. Stardust – $4.1 million.
Hollywood set a record for the highest box office summer ever taking in $4.33 billion. That is up 11% from last year’s total. There has been a ton of talk in the last couple of years with people pondering whether people just aren’t going to go to the theaters anymore. This summer proved a lot of people’s theory. If you produce good quality movies, people are more than willing to go see them. It’s all about quality. This has been an amazing summer of movies.
My Labor Day weekend saw a new show blaze a trail into my top five favorite shows currently on the air. I think I watched something like 18 or so episodes to finish season one of Heroes. Wow, this show is really good!! I am completely hooked. Good cast and good stories. I want to thank everyone that sent me recommendations to check that show out. What I liked about watching the DVD’s is that each episode would end where I’d be thinking, ok, now I’ve gotta watch one more. LOL. Several cliffhangers on the episode endings. I love the way that the comic plays a role in the show and it’s very interesting to see the different powers that the various characters have. I won’t go into my thoughts on season one just yet and give some of you that might be watching it a chance to see it since the DVD just came out. I’ll get into my spoiler thoughts right before the season two premiere. Save the cheerleader, save the world!!
CMT premiered the new Dale Earnhardt documentary movie called Dale. The movie has been playing in select theaters across the country all year but it is now made its way over to TV. This is a great movie and if you are a Dale Earnhardt fan, you’ll love it. If you don’t know a lot about Earnhardt or about racing, I still recommend watching it as you’ll get an understanding of how he became this legendary person. I became a fan of his immediately when I started watching racing around 1988 or 1989. There was just something about him in that black 3 car that just drew you in as a fan. There was no doubt immediately on who I liked. The documentary has many interviews with Dale’s family and friends talking about his life. Lots of good interviews and stories that are told. I had heard so much about all this new unseen footage that is in this movie and they weren’t kidding. There was SO much footage in this movie that I have never seen. There was a lot of race footage in this from the 80’s that I hadn’t seen. It covers his whole life whether it is racing or his personal life. Lots of good features on Dale and Richard Childress together and they do a great job showing just how close of friends that they were. They were more like brothers than friends. Lots of footage of Dale Jr. as a kid at the track watching his dad. The movie does a great job in covering his 1998 Daytona 500 win after winning everything else only to have a Daytona 500 win avoid him for 20 years. He had had just about everything possible happen to him to keep him from winning the race including cutting a tire going into turn three in the final lap of the 1990 Daytona 500. I will never forget watching that race and how disappointing it was. It’s still bothering to see the footage of him lose that race. The reaction of everyone on that day in 1998 with his 500 win is still amazing with all of the teams greeting him on pit road to congratulate him. It covers his tough winless streak that he went through in the mid 90’s. They don’t cover it but I always heard that some of the drivers that had passed away started taking a toll on him and he wasn’t having as much fun anymore. When Junior got into Nascar, everyone talks about how it reenergized him. Seeing the stuff from the Daytona 500 in 2001 is still hard to watch and still tugs on the old heartstrings. I’ll never forget that horrible unreal week that still seems like a bad dream. They do a nice feature on Junior returning to Daytona in July to win the Pepsi 400. That is still my favorite win ever in Junior’s career even topping his Daytona 500 win in 2004. It was such a turning point for the fans who had such a bad thing happen previously at Daytona and then have such a positive thing happen with him winning. That celebration is one that that I will never forget. I remember how nervous I was wanting him to win that thing. The reaction of the fans in the grandstand when Junior was about to win that race is still so amazing to watch. This movie brought back a lot of great memories and it is still so hard to believe that he is gone. That era of racing when he was around seems so long ago. There are so many times when something happens in Nascar and I wonder “what would Earnhardt think about this or that?”. There are a lot of fans that quit watching racing after Earnhardt’s crash that just simply didn’t want to watch it anymore without him. Others just kept watching and cheered Junior. I often think that if Junior had not been racing, I probably would have quit watching Nascar. I give this movie a huge thumbs up and really enjoyed it. Lots of great stories and highlights.
The Dale movie did very well ratings wise for CMT bringing in 3.1 million viewers for its premiere on Tuesday night. From what I’m reading, it appears that the movie is the highest viewed telecast ever on CMT among viewers and also in the 18-49 demographic.
NBC and iTunes have parted ways. They could not come up with an agreement to continue offering the programming. The difference seemed to be that NBC was wanting the price for shows to go up and iTunes didn’t want to budge. NBC was wanting to do some sort of package deal with their downloads as well. I’ve seen talk that NBC was wanting the price for an episode to go up to $4.99 which would be up from the current $1.99. iTunes is happy with the $1.99 price tag and didn’t want to go up on it. NBC was also wanting DRM to be included in the downloads which many are trying to go away from. NBC then announced this week that they will begin offering their new shows online for download over at Amazon.com’s Unbox service which will go for a price tag of $1.99 per episode. Umm, OK?? The advantage that Unbox has is apparently people with TIVO’s can order the shows from their TIVO but it only works with the Windows operating system. Unbox doesn’t have near the amount of customers that iTunes has.

Disney is now working on a new musical movie that is called Camp Rock. It features the Jonas Brothers as the stars. The movie will premiere on Disney Channel in the summer of 2008.
That new movie, Good Luck Chuck, starring Jessica Alba and Dane Cook, looks like it could be funny. I did laugh out loud at one of the previews that I saw for it.

You Tube Video Of The Week: This video has a story to it and how You Tube created another star. This is an acoustic performance by a 24 year old singer named Marie’ Digby. It’s a sort of new LonelyGirl15 type story. I remember hearing her version of the song on a recent episode of The Hills which is mentioned in this article on her and then following is the video clip of her performance.
