WWE Night Of Champions is this Sunday and the real buzz on this show is Cena and Lesnar. What happens? What has happened since Lesnar won the title at SummerSlam has been yet another Cena as superman type storyline. Cena wasn’t even down long. Within a week, he was already poised destroying everyone again. They have really been building a comeback storyline with Cena to the point where many including myself are concerned that he will become champion once again this Sunday. If that happens, that is not going to go over well with fans at all and the backlash will be huge. They really have got to get Cena out of that title picture. It will be interesting to say the least to see what Vince does this Sunday.
WWE NXT Takeover. One word awesome. Three more words, off the charts. This was the third live NXT special on the WWE Network and every one of them has been amazing. If you have not seen it, check it out. I promise that you will not be disappointed. The only thing that just kind of hit a dud for me was the hair vs hair match but everything else was awesome. The four way main event was amazing. I absolutely loved the women’s match with Charlotte defending against Bayley. Bayley has become a quick favorite of mine. I loved the story of how she just kept fighting and wouldn’t back down. Yet, the champion still prevailed. Really impressed with Charlotte’s progression. KENTA made his debut and was welcomed big time. The fans there in Florida for NXT bring a lot of fun energy to the shows every week. Chants, cheering, and a lot of respect from the fans. I did like that there was a moment during one of the matches where a CM Punk chant tried to break out from a section and the rest of the fans booed them out for it. The majority of the fans didn’t like them disrespecting those in the ring and drowned that chant out to where they stopped immediately. Triple H is doing an incredible job with NXT and that is his baby. If you are tired of WWE programming and want an alternative, NXT is your stop. Trust me that you will want to check it out.
Speaking of WWE Network, I have read this week that Hulk Hogan’s Rock N’ Wrestling will be added to the Network in the near future along with new episodes of ECW and World Class. So, there is something for everyone to look forward to.
The new Randy Savage DVD documentary is set to hit stores on November 18th. The match listing has been released and it is a good one but I really want to see that documentary. That makes the set for me where it will be great to see a WWE produced documentary on him with interviews and such.
Chris Jericho’s third book is set to be released in October. Based off of how great his other two books have been, the third will be a must read.
I have been listening to more of the Steve Austin and Chris Jericho podcast shows. There is an awesome roundtable that Jericho did where him, Heyman, and Edge sit around telling stories and such. It is hilarious. They share their cell match experiences including the height of being on top of it. Heyman is scared of heights by the way and tells a funny account of how he had to battle his fear while also getting “lit up by CM Punk with a kendo stick” on top of it. Heyman also tells a funny story of how he got back to WWE with Brock Lesnar. He said that he left WWE on bad terms and was happy with just being with his family and such. Brock was negotiating to come back and called him to be his mouthpiece. Heyman thanked him but said he just didn’t feel like it would be good for everyone involved cause of how he departed. So, Brock comes back and goes out. He does an 18 minute segment with Johnny Ace out there as well. Brock was so uncomfortable talking. Heyman said that Brock was so mad after it was over that he walked to the back with his mic in his hand still. He was so mad that he forgot to drop the mic. He walks through the curtain and Vince greets him saying “well, that wasn’t exactly what we were looking for”. LOL. Brock was furious and just said “CALL HEYMAN” and dropped the mic. Heyman was called right after and a deal was worked out. There is also a lot of discussion on that show of the awesome Smackdown time that the three of them had back in 2002-03 when Heyman was booking the show. Heyman talks about how he wanted Smackdown to be the alternative wrestling show to Raw’s talking show. He was mad when they took Jericho away from him and he fought to get someone to replace them. He said “give me Guererro and Benoit” and the WWE team laughed at him basically saying is that all you want? Sure, have them. Knock yourself out. That shows the mentality of a lot in power in WWE at the time on what they thought of talents. Heyman was bound and determined to be the number one WWE show and their numbers were the same if not better than Raw at times. Vince didn’t have his hands on Smackdown cause he was more concerned with Raw. So, Heyman had free reigns on Smackdown but did have to fight at times over things. So much so that he would often fight for mid carders to get their time in saying Noble and Nidia must have three minutes in this show. He would fight for them too. Just a really good listen and I enjoyed it. Check it out if you get the chance.
WWE does not look to be moving Smackdown to Thursday nights after all. It looks like it will be staying put on Fridays.
Want an inside look at the chaos that is TNA? Here is an article for you to read and check out. It tells of several good quotes including the inner workings of that company. The fact that they were wanting AJ Styles to take a 40% pay cut on his contract negotiation! Wow! He left obviously and is loving life working in Japan and independents. There is discussion about Jarrett and his new promotion that we are waiting to see what happens with. Just a really good read that is worth going out of your way to read.http://grantland.com/features/tna-professional-wrestling-dixie-carter-jeff-jarrett-wwe/
Anyway, just felt like typing something up today. Hope you have a great day!
