This week’s Survivor episode had more added to the rivalries that have developed in this pre-merge era of Survivor 49. Last week, we saw the Sage and Shannon stuff starting to boil especially on the Sage end. This week we saw more of Savannah being bothered by Jawan as he continues to just randomly use her things. Sometimes it is the little things on Survivor that can lead to big things with annoyances in a setting like that on the beach in Survivor.
Let’s get to the happenings of this week. Last week, we lost Matt to the tribal council vote. The first thing we see this week is Shannon starting to bother her new Kele tribe members. Last week, we saw her doing a lot of connecting with various people. This week, we see rumblings of people feeling uneasy on her that she’s putting in too much work and playing too hard. She initially pitches an alliance of having two members of each original tribe together in this alliance where they could cover all their bases and control the game. She pitches this to Kristina and Steven to which Steven says in his confessional that yeah, I said yes to it cause Survivor 101 is you always say yes to any alliance pitched to you but he wasn’t feeling this at all. Shannon throws out Sage’s name as a target of hers. Sage then goes into attack mode on Shannon telling others that Shannon is a “shark” who plays to others vulnerabilities and then talks about them over and over to you.
The mid portion of the episode has each tribe sending one person on a journey. Hina has the biggest thing going with the picks as Jason volunteers to go but with him being on the bottom of the tribe and the current target of who to vote out next, the other Hinas do not want him to go where he might pick up an advantage or an idol. So, two others say they’d volunteer to go. Jawan says let’s go to rocks if everyone is good with that. He then helps fix the rocks win for Nate to go instead of Jason. It will be Nate for Hina and then MC for Kele. The task is that each of them must move sandbags in a certain amount of time across the beach or lose their vote. During the task, Nate breaks up the stress by saying let’s get to know each other to break up the monotony of this which I liked. I thought this was fun. As they get further along into the bags, MC notices another message and calls Nate over. The message says that there is an advantage out in the jungle and that either of them can take off to get it but if they don’t complete the task in the amount of time, their votes will be lost. If one of them finds it, their vote is restored. Nate talks in his confessional of how he knew he wasn’t going to be able to beat MC at this so he comes up with a plan of what if we both continue to do the sandbags and finish that to 99.9 percent and then take off into the jungle to where we know for sure we’ll finish this and keep our votes. MC likes the idea and they do this plan leaving one bag. MC was in the jungle looking for the advantage when Nate calls her back saying they’re getting low on time. They actually weren’t. LOL. MC noticed that too in her confessional. They finish the task with the bag and keep their votes but no advantage gained. MC tells her tribe how it played out. Nate didn’t tell his tribe about there being an advantage up for grabs.
We go back to Kele where Sage is still looking to one up Shannon. When Shannon walks away, she looks to gain trust with the other five sitting there when she reveals that Rizo had found a beware advantage on the other beach. She basically says see, did Shannon tell you that, nope, well, I did, so you should trust me now over her. LOL. There is also a scene where Shannon and Sage talk to one another with Sage just not having it at all. So this rivalry will be something to watch as we move along.
Immunity challenge. Kele pulls out the win. My first thought was my goodness, Sophi. This girl cannot catch a break. I desperately want her to get a win. And I’d also prefer her to stop going to tribal council with the risk of her being voted out. Sophi fan here. LOL. She just looks full checked out here at day 10 getting back to camp and having only lived on the very slim of basics. Others notice how checked out Sophi is but it isn’t something anyone wants to pursue even in the slightest. Her social activity in last week’s episode is definitely paying off. So, it seems like Jason is just done here. He’s liked by the tribe but he’s on the bottom. However, Savannah makes a pitch to him on how to get votes on Jawan. But Savannah does it in a way of this being her plan but having Jason do it to where it looks like his plan but not hers. Savannah is all about getting Jawan out if she can. Jason does make the pitch basically to the words of how Savannah had told him to do it. We get to tribal council and there isn’t much drama at all here. Just the typical back and forth discussion of where votes are going to go. Jason gets all the votes and is voted out. But it’s a celebration for Jason as let’s remember he was an alternate and got to play Survivor last minute. He has a great attitude of that saying that very thing of he didn’t think he was going to get to play any days of Survivor and got 10 instead! Sad to see Jason go and glad he got to be on this season and get to play Survivor!
