Tonight’s Survivor had a bunch of question marks at tribal with knowing a blindside was coming but what idols and advantages might get played in the process? We started the episode with the fallout of last week with Sophi and Steven voting for each other while Sophi says she’s ready for payback on that move. Idols are getting outed as we see Sage revealing to Jawan that Steven had told her that Kristina has an idol. This was news to Jawan so he goes to Steven and floats conversation to see if Steven would reveal this to him. Steven does not. So, Jawan doesn’t trust Steven but we also see in the confessional interview that Steven didn’t trust Jawan enough to give him that info. So a duo of distrust to one another here. Kristina talks to Steven about how she felt betrayed with the last vote while also adding that she is really missing her mom who passed away not long ago. Kristina and Steven talk about her idol and she says she wants to play the idol on Steven to protect him as they know he is in trouble. She wants to do that as a way to blindside Savannah.
Day 18 starts with a reward challenge and also just a heartbreaking segment with Kristina. Jeff does his usual talk with the cast on how they are feeling. Kristina just full breaks down with the most heartbreaking sobbing and anger talk as well of how she misses her mom and wants her there to help her. She speaks of how her mom was her best friend and who she relied on when things got tough. We get to the reward challenge which is two teams of four competing to get the first trip to the sanctuary of the season. Teams are decided in a schoolyard pick. Sophi and Jawan are drawn as captains. Sophi picks Sage, Sophie, and Steven. Jawan chooses Savannah, Kristina, and Rizo. I did not put those in order of picks unless I accidentally nailed it. LOL. The challenge has a big moment for Kristina as she gets off the beam over water and fights her way back on it to get to the platform to save herself from having to go back. Awesome moment where I was cheering at the TV for her to make that save. The reward challenge is won by Sophi, Sage, Sophie, and Steven. Back at camp, morale is very low there with the lack of food and fatigue. Rizo is in tears. Jawan decides to go fishing and catch something to try and boost morale there at camp. At the sanctuary, the four fill up on MONSTER burgers. Geez those things were big. LOL. Sage and Sophie talk to which Sage pitches Savannah to go home saying they need to break up that trio of Rizo, Sophi, and Savannah. Everyone is reunited back at camp. The trio along with Jawan and Sage discuss who to vote out with them pitching Steven to go to which Sage agrees. In her confessional, she says she is lying big and she wants that target big on Savannah. She confirms that to Jawan about it and then confirms that to Steven too on getting Savannah out.
Immunity is back up for grabs as we go back to individual immunity instead of two like last week. We get the rice negotiation first up where Jeff says he’ll give them a bag of rice that will last the rest of the season in exchange for three people sitting out of the challenge. Rizo says he has a 1/8 chance at a million dollars and he can eat rice in a week but can’t have a 1/8 chance at a million dollars in a week. Jawan tries to negotiate and says what if we exchange two for half the bag. Jeff just takes his ball and goes home saying well, it sounds from the talk I’m hearing overall that you really want to compete instead of rice. The challenge gets underway with a fun teeter totter start which was new to Survivor and it looked rough with that switch over. I cracked up at Sophi’s laughing at it. They had to balance their puzzle pieces across to the end where they could take as many as they could but risk dropping many instead of taking fewer. Steven went with the many route taking a ton on his last run and it worked out. Sophi just went for broke needing to catch up and took four on her last go with needing to catch up. She worked hard balancing that and got it. We’re to the puzzle. The other Sophie ends up edging out Steven for the win for immunity.
That takes us back to camp with a whole lot of mess and discussion on how this vote is going to go and how to get who to play what with idols. Rizo is shown feeling really good at things to where I said uh oh. LOL. Sage tells Sophie about Kristina’s idol and Sage wants that idol and Rizo’s idol out of the game. Sophie tells Savannah that Rizo needs to play the idol on Savannah as she is siding with the trio here. Sophie also tells the trio that she thinks Kristina has an idol. Kristina discusses wanting to play the idol on Steven and then put one vote on Rizo. Savannah and Kristina talk game and Savannah gets too assertive asking for who she is voting for and it panics Kristina. Savannah talks to the trio and pitches about possibly using her extra vote on Sage or Jawan as they discuss taking out one of the “flip floppers” in the middle. Savannah tells Sophie about her extra vote. We get to tribal council and the discussion is just filler here as we’re just waiting for votes. Kristina plays her idol…….on Steven. What will Rizo do? He gets up and walks to Jeff. Gives this big speech. Says he’s playing his idol. Gives the idol to Jeff and says he’s playing the idol…….on Savannah. Jeff says this is not an idol and all votes on Savannah will count. Jawan says play the real thing! He doesn’t. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT???? Maybe there is something to see in the future but why make that big spectacle and play a fake idol when people know you have one. It was just straight up theater for seemingly no reason. When that happened, I said vote out either Rizo or Savannah just for that move. LOL. The votes start coming out with Savannah getting a number of them. She looks at Jawan and said “is this you” making this move and he nods yes. She gives a shock face. Then, the next two votes come and Jawan is in trouble and gets voted out on a blindside. Sophie went with the trio and Savannah used her extra vote. The votes against Jawan were Rizo, Sophi, Sophie, and Savannah with her two votes. The others voted for Savannah except for Kristina who was the lone vote against Rizo. Strange moment when Steven’s vote had a name crossed out and then changed to Savannah. It looks like he wrote the wrong name and was trying to write Shannon? Definitely the best episode of the season so far. Curious to see how next week goes as I’m waiting to see what the fallout is of the blindside, the fake idol play, the idol that was played, the extra vote being gone, and don’t forget that Sophi still has her knowledge is power advantage where she can steal an idol. She knows about Rizo’s obviously! Any chance she does it? I’d love to see it!
