A fake idol play, an advantage play made and rejected, and a surprise vote out was what we saw on tonight’s episode of Survivor 49.
We open the episode with the tribe arriving back at camp with everyone happy with the result of Sophie being voted out. Sophi also saying she’s now the only Sophi. Rizo told everyone the lie of that this upcoming tribal council is the last time he can play his idol. He can actually play it till final five. Sophi pitches to Kristina that she’s ready to make a big move and turn on the trio. She says she knows she needs something on her resume and it’s time. The reward challenge changes all of this as the reward is for a win of a Mexican feast meal, a night at the sanctuary with comfort sleep of pillows and such, and letters from home. Savannah wins the reward challenge and she is allowed to pick two people. She said her first pick is easy for her and it’s Rizo. She said her second pick is someone that she had promised for reward all along and that was Sophi. So, the trio is going on the reward. On the reward, Sophi says in her confessional how it’s a blessing and a curse to go on this reward cause it shows their cards. Back at camp, a sad Sage, Steven, and Kristina discuss everything. Kristina mentions that Sophi had told her that she wants to make a big move against Savannah and Rizo. However, they’re afraid that this reward may change things. Indeed it did. On the reward, the trio bond even closer to the point of Sophi telling them about her knowledge is power. No Sophi, no. This is the first time she’s revealed it to anyone. Back at camp, Steven reveals to Kristina and Sage about what his power is with it being a block a vote. Sage also thinks that losing reward was karma kicking her for Savannah. First time he’s revealed that as he’s been hiding it especially from Rizo. The trio gets their letters from home which was a sweet segment. Immunity challenge time. They have to balance a ball in a challenge that was previously won by Dee in Survivor 45 in 24 minutes. Rizo is the first one out followed by Sophi, Kristina, and then Steven. This leaves a showdown with Savannah vs Sage. They go past the 24 minute mark. Sage starts to struggle and tries to work a deal with Savannah saying I know you don’t trust me but I’ve got a plan to keep us both safe. Savannah won’t bail. They go past the 35 minute mark and Savannah wins another immunity.
Back at camp, Steven tells Rizo that obviously Sophi is now the target considering Rizo has an idol and Savannah has immunity. Rizo pitches Steven to Sage. Sage pitches it to Kristina but Kristina doesn’t want to get rid of Steven because of how they’ve been working together. Before tribal council, Steven plays his block a vote advantage as you have to play it and reveal on who before you go to tribal. At tribal council, it all breaks loose and it’s all confusing. Before the vote, Sophi makes her play to steal something and she plays her knowledge is power. She chooses Steven and asks if he has one to which he says……no. Full Sophi shock face to the point of during voting, she says she wants him gone just for how embarrassing that was for her. A lot of shock faces to the news that Steven didn’t have it as he had given it away. Savannah gets her vote blocked by Steven. Rizo then does another theatrical idol thing which I just don’t understand. He gets up like he is going to play the idol saying he’s going to play it on either him or Sophi. Says sorry to Sophi and he also isn’t playing it on himself. More shocked faces. The vote comes through and it’s looking bad for Sophi….and then the vote goes against Steven. Steven looks at Sage who says sorry, I just couldn’t beat you. Sage and Kristina both flipped on Steven and voted him out. Sage asks Rizo saying you still have one more week to play that idol, don’t you? He says yes. So, that tribal council was a hot mess. LOL. That gets us to the final five with the Survivor 49 finale next week.
