Survivor 50 is messy and I love it! Episode 2 aired tonight on CBS and we’re back down to the regular 90 minute episodes now after last week’s 3 hour premiere. This cast is playing hard and they are giving us awesome TV in the first two episodes.
The episode opened up with the fallout of Kyle being pulled from the game due to injury. The tribe was figuring out how to progress moving forward. Q had lost a very close ally and he decided to tell Rizo about the truth on his lose a vote story. Rizo is happy seeing that he is feeling like he is settling in now after starting the game too hot. It looks like Q is ready to work with him as well. Well, for now but we’ll get to that later. This brings us to the reward challenge and we have things to talk about here with this. First, we see the reveal of Jenna being voted off. Not much reaction with surprise. However, the surprise is big when everyone sees that Kyle is gone. Tears from Kamilla and a lot of emotion from her over someone that she worked so close with previously. That sets up some fireworks as Ozzy talks about the key challenge saying he had a moment where he thought he was going to get injured and might have had to leave the game. This opens the door for Coach to say that he wants to clear things up over what had been talked about over what happened in that key challenge. Coach talks about how he is going to play with honor and how he always has. Ozzy replies that if he hadn’t gotten the key down, Coach never would have gotten it. Coach says he is going to play like he always does and Ozzy says yes, you are playing exactly the way you did the last time he played the game with Coach. LOL. I cracked up at the awkward reaction faces of everyone standing around while this exchange was going on. Meanwhile, we also have a reward challenge here. LOL. Devens finishes off the win for Cila. Coach finishes 2nd for Kalo. That puts Vatu in last. Aubry had a tough challenge and afterwards we see her talking about how she’s out of sorts with the game. Genevieve gets paranoid seeing Aubry keeping her bag too close to her at all times and this makes Genevieve think Aubry has an advantage. She talks to Stephenie and eventually the rest of the tribe. They come up with a plan to go through Aubry’s bag while she isn’t there. Stephenie is talking to Aubry on the beach. Q is ready to be the loud lookout with a loud signal in play to make them aware if she’s on the way. The rest tend to the bag as Genevieve goes through the bag repeatedly apologizing the whole time she’s doing it. And….they find nothing.
Over at Kalo, we see Jonathan fishing and then Coach decides to join in. However, things go very wrong for Coach when he cramps up while out in the water. It’s to the point where the water safety crew have to come over in a boat to get him and take him back to shore cause he’s just floating unable to move. Coach talks about how he’s cramped up in both legs. Coach is not having a good episode here. LOL. We see the talk of the tribe starting to get annoyed with Chrissy giving us a tease of an edit of she might be in trouble in the future. Over to Cila where we get a full dose of Joe paranoia. Devens and Savannah are talking alliance stuff and about bringing Joe into it. Devens and Joe start to walk off together and Devens whispers over to Savannah about something. This drives Joe into paranoia where this is what he talks about for most of the rest of the episode pondering what that was about. Then, the fallout around it. Joe and Devens walk off together and Joe immediately is saying what were you talking to her about? Cirie, Christian, and Devens talk about the trouble of trying to work with Joe cause Joe wants to play the game without lying which is not a game they want to play and how hard it is to have to play around him. A very funny moment next with Christian talking to the cameras by himself while walking about Joe when he suddenly accidentally finds an advantage in a tree. LOL. It’s the boomerang idol. Like last week, he is to gift the idol to someone on another tribe. If that person doesn’t use it and gets voted out, that idol comes back to him. So, he can help someone out to align with or he can give it someone he thinks might be in trouble of being voted out to where it would come back to him. He decides to give it to Audry who is tearful and emotional needing this moment of protection saying she’s glad someone was looking to help her. Add in that this is very hilarious of a possibility now of that she might pull an idol at tribal council now shocking everyone after they all went through her stuff. Now, she actually has one. Over at Vatu, Rizo is already losing that little momentum he had with his tribe. Rizo is being talked about with how lazy he is and how he doesn’t want to help with anything. Admittedly in his interview, he says basically the same of that he just wants to play the game instead of camping. Q is picking up on him and others that he says aren’t helping with anything with how it puts a target on them. Rizo’s rollercoaster ride continues.
Immunity challenge is next. Rizo and Genevieve get Vatu off to a very slow start and then the powerhouses of Colby and Stephenie got out next leading a huge charge of a comeback to get Vatu back in it. When I saw Colby and Stephenie running out next, I said yep, I’ll feel good every single time if I see that duo running out on a challenge of that I’m going to be in good shape with them as a result. They are going to get the job done and work hard at it. They get Vatu right back in it and they win immunity. Kalo finishes second. This puts Cila back in last place sending them back to tribal council. Back at the Cila camp, Cirie starts hearing Ozzy’s name being suggested for a vote out. She instead starts floating Savannah’s name. Cirie points out her strategy during confessional saying she just likes to give people the facts and then let others hopefully decide the same on what she’s actually wanting to do. I love Cirie. LOL. Ozzy’s social game weakness is discussed again with Cirie being the one to try and help that. Cirie talks to Ozzy about his name being floated and what she’s trying to accomplish. Ozzy is so thankful that he gives his extra vote advantage to Cirie. This is amazingly the first advantage that Cirie has had in Survivor history. Then, we’re back to the Joe paranoia. Joe talks to Savannah about the whispering and she clues him in on the alliance talk. Joe is still talking about his Survivor PTSD he has from his season with Kyle and Kamilla working behind his back. Devens and Joe talk things out with Joe saying why didn’t you tell me about the alliance? Devens talks about how he’s never played the game with anyone like him before with the style of how he wants to play. This convo really just doesn’t go well. We get a therapy segment with Christian talking to Joe and him telling Joe that he’s really afraid to tell him anything game related with what Joe will do with the info. There is also a random moment where he is rocking Joe in the hammock which was so bizarre and funny. Christian is such a huge star of this season so far. I really enjoy him! Cirie pitches Joe to Emily and Savannah. Savannah sees Cirie is wanting to protect Ozzy. Emily wants Ozzy out but she is also watching Joe “sinking his own ship”. Christian tells Devens about the boomerang idol and who he gave it to so that way they know Savannah does not have the boomerang. They also come up with a wild plan of wanting to hide a fake idol at tribal council.
We get to tribal council and the discussion of Joe and Devens is a big topic. Savannah gets emotional talking about her trouble socially in the early days of Survivor 49. We get to the vote and it’s a 6-1 vote sending Savannah home. The lone one vote was Savannah’s for Ozzy. As tribal council concludes, the fake idol play goes into effect as you can see them setting up for it. Christian fake falls. LOL. While everyone is focused on Christian, Devens plants the fake idol right there in front of him on the set. This was all pretty funny and I don’t know if it helps them but they had a plan and executed it very well. LOL. Executed even to the point of Christian still selling the fall as they are walking out with him acting confused. My question is did Jeff see it???? We didn’t get a cutaway to his face. Next week’s episode teaser shows a tribe swap coming up and plenty more drama. I’m absolutely loving Survivor 50!
