After our adventure into last week’s merge but not really a merge, we move into the merge this week on Survivor 50. We had a bunch of clashes tonight and endurance for immunity and also for an advantage.
The tribes all return back separately after last week’s vote and Tiffany is FURIOUS. I loved her confessionals where she’s just boiling. LOL. I did crack up at her facials all episode cause she has so much she wants to vent and say but she’s keeping the lid on the boiling stove. But she’s so desperate to give a full piece of her mind. LOL. We get the Aubry fallout where she says that once she saw the shot in the dark played that she decided to not play her idol. Devens says in his confessional that if we’d known she wasn’t going to play her idol, we’d have voted her out and boomeranged that idol back. Aubry gives her story to the ones asking about the idol. The rest of the group is upset with her reaction of she forgot to play it. The drama goes up though from here when we see Coach confront Dee saying he was hearing that she doesn’t trust him. Jonathan jumps in as well and we have a back and forth mostly with Dee and Jonathan with Coach just putting in his convo every so often. In confessional, Jonathan says that he is purposely riling up Dee seeing if she’ll say something that hurts her game. Several of the group are just sitting there wide eyed listening and watching all of this. Coach then declares that he’s ready for war. The old dragonslayer is back. No more mister nice guy. No more playing with honor. Yeah, I’ve got nothing here and Emily says that Coach likes to play lies with a tactic of rules for thee but not for me. Ozzy and Rizo return to a quiet camp where they immediately pick up on the weird vibe there to which they are caught up on the happenings. Coach talks to Rizo to pitch getting Rizo on his side as he needs a replacement for Colby and TELLS Rizo this. Rizo says in confessional that I’m in….cause someone else is out???? Not working on Rizo. Emily tells Rizo that she heard about his idol from Dee. He asks Dee who denies it. Dee has been outed here and she’s in oh no, how do I damage control this here mode. Dee tells Tiffany that she messed up in telling Emily to which she reveals who all she had told.
As Dee and Tiffany are trying to regroup, a boat arrives. One person must go on the boat and they decide to do a draw for it which ends up being Stephenie. Stephenie gets a task where she will be tethered having to keep her arm up for an hour to try and outlast the water going into a pot. If she is able to do it, she gets an advantage but if she doesn’t, she loses her vote. We get a flashback where Stephenie talks about where she dislocated her shoulder in one of her previous seasons to which she eventually had to have shoulder surgery done on it. So, that arm is not an option for her to do this with and she picks her less dominant arm which makes it more challenging. Stephenie accomplishes it and gets the advantage which is a steal a vote. Stephenie decides that she’s going to lie about her advantage. She returns saying that if you made it 30 minutes, you got to keep your vote but if you made it an hour, you got an advantage. She said she just wanted to keep her vote and targeted the 30 minutes and added that she didn’t get it. One problem. Cirie isn’t buying any of it and is reading Stephenie like a book. Very funny confessionals and when they’re alone, Cirie gets Stephenie to confess. LOL. I loved that moment. Problem for Stephenie is that Cirie tells this info to Rizo so the game of telephone that is Survivor 50 continues.
We get to the immunity challenge. A twist of being split into two teams. The winning team then moves on to compete for individual immunity in another challenge. The teams are determined by drawing for captains and then a schoolyard pick. In no particular order here, Jonathan is one captain and his team is Cirie, Chrissy, Rizo, Tiffany, Coach, and Aubry. Christian is the other captain and his team is Ozzy, Devens, Emily, Dee, Joe, and Stephenie. Emily and Christian are able to finish the puzzle first sealing the win for that team. They move on to individual immunity where they balance a ball on a rod. Devens is the first out. The order of elimination after that is Emily, Christian, Stephenie, and then Dee. That leaves Ozzy vs Joe with Ozzy winning. This is Ozzy’s 8th individual immunity win with only Boston Rob having more at 9.
Back at camp, the talk turns to who is going home and Dee and Aubry’s names are the big names going around. Coach tells Aubry that her big mess up was lying about the idol play and tells her she needs to lose it tonight to help herself. Coach, Jonathan, and Chrissy talk about how to split votes between Tiffany, Dee, and Aubry. Coach is tracking who is voting for who so he can make sure where the numbers are. Coach is going into full Coach for the rest of this episode to where I was ready to title this post, Coach Slays Himself. Coach is telling everyone who to vote. Christian and Devens talk and Christian is told about the vote split. Christian tells Coach about knowing on it to which Coach gets furious that there was a leak to “the middle people”. He voices this in front of a lot of people. One of them being Devens. Rizo pulls Coach aside and says you are ranting about “the middle people” knowing in full sight and Devens is in the middle people. Coach sees he messed up. Rizo says you slay dragons at tribal council and not at camp. Rizo is in full Tyson Apostle mode here with coaching Coach. Rizo says it’s ridiculous that a 25 year old kid is having to tell Coach how to play. Emily and Devens talk about flipping the vote on to Coach cause everyone is getting very tired of him very fast. Ozzy says he is open to it as Emily and Devens give each other an approval look of well, ok. Dee and Tiffany are good with it. Word spreads fast that the vote is trying to flip on to Coach. Dee tells Tiffany that she is going to purposely try and stir things at tribal council to cause chaos. She says if you see me get up and start whispering, don’t get paranoid cause this is what I’m doing so don’t worry.
We get to tribal council which has the most people ever at a tribal council. That wide shot was something to behold with how many were there. Dee does turn this into a live tribal as she gets up and whispers to Aubry and Ozzy to “write Coach, I’ve got numbers”. Lots of whispering starts occurring to where I’m getting very optimistic that Coach may be sunk here and Dee might be saved. Aubry does play her idol. Dee plays her shot in the dark and is not safe. The votes do not go Dee’s way and the original plan of Coach’s does seem to have stayed. They split the votes between Dee and Tiffany with Dee going on a 8-4 vote between the two of them. Dee gets her first ever vote out from Survivor.
Thoughts on the episode. Sad to see Dee go as I’m a fan of hers going back to her original season. She just got caught with too many lies which is easy to do with this cast cause nobody can keep a secret. Even alliances. LOL. Coach annoys me like crazy but he’s also great TV and that’s why they brought him back. But he annoys me like crazy. LOL. The comparison of Rizo having to be Tyson this round is pretty funny having to reel Coach in. Myself as someone who has worked holding boom mics previously, I laughed at the Devens line of “I appreciate boom mic operators” with that immunity challenge being a very similar hold of what it’s like to hold a boom mic for production. Yep, being a boom mic operator is no joke. I’ve been there done that. LOL. Shout out to Tiffany with the funny “I hope I get to write your name every single day until you go home” in the voting booth referring to Coach. LOL.
