Episode 3 opens up with all teams on the same flight headed to Morocco. Teams go to Razani Pottery for the road block. One member of each team will smash rejected pottery to collect a clue inside. There is also a twist in this as one of the 11 clues will have a roadside assistance advantage. Teams can use this until the end of leg 5 where on a roadblock, one member can call on the other member to help them complete the task. Ann-Marie and Riley are the first team to finish the task. Daisha and Dalton leave there second. Dafina and Saran end up getting the roadside assistance pass. At the pottery, Javi and Jenn are the last two left still trying to finish. Javi finishes it which leaves Jenn by herself. This would become the story of the episode. The next task will be in the Agafay Desert at the detour where teams can either do walk or talk. Walk is that teams will have to roll big tires that will be used to hold food for camels to be taken to to eat their meal. Talk is that teams drive a buggy through the desert finding 3 road signs where they have to memorize the messages on them to repeat to a man later on. The tires are absolute beast of things to roll around out there. Daisha is struggling with the weight of the tires and her and Dalton decide to switch to the buggies. Daisha & Dalton and Erin & Javi decide to work together on the detour with the buggies. Dafina and Saran are having a blast driving through the desert as they chose that option for the detour. Andrea and Anuar start to do the tires as well but decide to use the express pass when they see how many athletic teams are catching up to them. Jaime and Cody have their own struggles with finding the clue box for the detour and eventually do but it puts them further back in the pack. Meanwhile, we see Jenn still at the pottery and she’s an hour into trying to find the clue. At one point, she gets her hair stuck in a plant which was pretty hilarious and probably provided a good light moment for them in such a high stress race moment. Darina and Saran are the first team to complete the buggy driving side of the detour getting it on their second attempt. Daisha and Dalton finish it second and decide to help Erin and Javi as they leave with getting the memorization right. They also help Jaime and Cody which Erin wasn’t thrilled about seeing not wanting them to help everyone. We cut back to Jenn who is at the two hour mark of the pottery tasks. The empathy from teams driving back and forth between tasks seeing them still there is strong as teams are feeling awful for them. Jenn finally gets it and they are off to the detour. Route info is the closing task of this episode as teams have to go to a fruit stand. They have to study a nearby fruit stand and duplicate it stacking fruit the same way. So much of the problem of this task is not letting the fruit fall as it’s easy for it to fall down. Andrea and Anuar were the first there after having used their express pass. Ann-Marie and Riley get frustrated with the fruit stacking early and they decide to bail and use their express pass. They go directly to the pit stop finishing first for this leg of the race. This makes them the first mother daughter team to ever win a leg of The Amazing Race in 39 seasons which was an INCREDIBLE stat. I had no idea that hadn’t ever happened. It also makes me have to shout out to my favorite mother daughter Amazing Race team of all time, Emily and Nancy Hoyt from season one! Brought back memories. Erin and Javi are clashing over the speed of writing down taking the fruit order of what they need for the task. Andrea and Anuar battle through and are the first team to complete the fruit stand. Conner and Garrett were right behind them followed by Ali and Joanna. All three teams arrive at the pit stop where Andrea thought they were first and get told someone used their express pass. Michelle is making up time fast with her and Matt as she is zoned in. When Jaime and Cody finish their fruit stand, they go immediately finding Daisha and Dalton to help them and repay them for earlier. They said they helped them big earlier and they didn’t want to leave them there. Good karma comes back around. Erin and Javi take observation of this help going on. Doug and Dylan are struggling as they watch teams finishing around them. At the pit stop, Dafina and Saran arrive where Phil mentions the roadside assistance pass and congratulates them. He asks if they’ve told any teams about it and they say no so he says he will keep it to himself as well. Jenn and Jody are battling trying to stay in this race. They get a glimmer of hope when they see Doug and Dylan still carrying food around. I kept watching the surroundings of Doug & Dylan and Jenn & Jody seeing how the edit is here. I kept watching the sunset seeing if it matched up and it was. Doug and Dylan finish and Dylan wants to take a moment to see how close Jenn and Jody are to finishing so they know what they are looking at. Jenn and Jody are very close. Jenn and Jody finish not long after and we have a foot race to the pit stop. Sunsets still matching with the edit. Who will get to the pit stop? And getting there first……is a to be continued. We got to be continued. LOL. The fact that we got a TBD tells me they needed a dramatic moment in the next episode when there might not be another one. It could be that or that we have a non elimination in the next leg of the next episode. It actually also might be that this one is a non elimination leg where both teams in the footrace keep racing.
Here are the standings to finish this leg.
1. Ann-Marie and Riley
2. Andrea and Anuar
3. Ali and Joanna
4. Conner and Garrett
5. Cody and Jaime
6. Michelle and Matt
7. Dafina and Saran
8. Erin and Javi
9. Daisha and Dalton
10 and 11 – A footrace to the pit stop between Doug & Dylan and Jody & Jenn.
