The Amazing Race 39 – Episode 6 Recap and Thoughts

Time to get into tonight’s episode 6 of The Amazing Race. I really enjoyed this episode tonight as well just like last week. Flowed really well and fun tasks. We start the episode off with Matt and Michelle leaving from the pit stop but they hold off on going to the location. Why? We have an intersection. Teams will have to work with another team to start this leg of the race and teams must mutually agree with one another on working together. Matt and Michelle start driving off but turn back around deciding to wait and go together with the next team instead of wasting time with directions. Matt and Michelle hide in the trees and bushes and run out grabbing second place, Daisha and Dalton, saying “you’re coming with us”. All I could think was is this a sorority ambush????!!! LOL. We didn’t have much confessional wise with Daisha and Dalton about this as we just got the narrative from Matt and Michelle. I’d have red flags galore of why are you so excited and hiding in the trees to grab us to join your sorority. LOL. The two teams take off riding with each other. We are getting more fall out of last week’s Driver’s Seat and also Daisha and Dalton leaving Ann Marie and Riley with teams talking about things before they leave for this leg. Conner & Garrett and Anuar & Andrea talk about wanting to work together and help each other. The Albania locals become a topic of this leg of the race as Conner and Garrett struggle to get help when asking for directions. When I say struggle, I mean full ignored. Ali & Joanna and Ann Marie & Riley arrive together and they agree to work together no matter who is at the intersection upcoming. They all catch up to Conner and Garrett and also have problems with locals ignoring them. Andrea and Anuar come to the realization that they are going to have to wait for Javi and Erin if they can’t get ahead of some teams before the intersection. Teams from 3-7 all get caught up with one another. Conner & Garrett and Anuar & Andrea all do commit to working with each other at the intersection. We get to the road block. There will be a duo having to learn and perform a dance at a wedding celebration with it being one member from each team of who you have intersected with. Michelle and Daisha take this task. Daisha has a tough time learning the dance while Michelle picks it up fast. Meanwhile back in the pack, the other teams go to the wrong location and get lost so it turns into a panic situation back there. This allows Erin and Javi a chance to catch back up. Michelle and Daisha are by themselves at the dance so they are able to just keep doing it over and over with no other teams needing to switch out. They get it on their fifth attempt with Michelle adding in confessional that she could have gotten it fifteen minutes earlier if it was a solo mission. Ok, well then. The other teams start arriving as they are leaving. Conner & Garrett, Anuar & Andrea, Ann Marie & Riley, and Doug & Dylan all arrive at the same time. Doug and Dylan are the lone team out with a partner as the others work with one another. That means that Doug and Dylan have to wait on Erin and Javi who are still battling navigation trouble. Garrett and Andrea team up for the dance as do Riley and Joanna. Back at the front of the pack, Matt and Michelle are talking of how they kind of want to lose Daisha and Dalton so they can sneak off and use their express pass. Michelle says she’s not trying to lose them but if it happens, it happens. What kind of sorority is this??? LOL. You know what, you’re out actually. We don’t want you anymore. LOL. Matt and Michelle go looking for the detour and then plan on picking the closest one so they can hand their express pass off while hopefully not being seen. They do indeed accomplish that and aren’t seen. They take off to the pit stop and are number one for this leg of the race for their third win in a row. Daisha and Dalton find the pit stop. The choices at the pit stop are either to make a hat or to learn a poem. Daisha and Dalton go for the poem. Back in the pack, Erin and Javi arrive at the dance so it will be Erin and Dylan taking on the dance. Joanna and Riley get the dance on their third attempt. Andrea and Garrett get it on their fourth attempt. Erin and Dylan nail it on their first attempt. I thought the dancing was fun but I tend to enjoy those tasks on the Race every year. On to the detour. Ali & Joanna and Ann Marie & Riley decide to work together with going for the hat task. Daisha and Dalton are struggling with the poem and they have one funny moment where they get it wrong and then awkwardly walk around into each other basically not knowing which way to go. They have these cute couple awkward moments like this off and on where they are both awkward at times. They just gel so well as a duo. They do finish the poem and are on their way to the pit stop where they finish the leg in second place. Doug & Dylan and Erin & Javi are on their way to the detour but Doug and Dylan get there first when Erin and Javi miss the turn for the arrival. Anuar and Andrea finish the poem. Doug and Dylan arrive just about the same time that Ali & Joanna and Ann Marie & Riley are getting rejected on their first hat attempt. When you get rejected, you have to start over with new hats so that means the three teams are even now. Erin and Javi decide to do the poem and end up leaving in fifth place as a result. Ali and Joanna finish the hats. Ann Marie and Riley are close with one being good but the other one not. Just requires some trimming correcting and they complete the task. Both teams arrive at the mat basically together with Ann Marie and Riley in front. Doug and Dylan get their hats completed on the first attempt but are behind arriving at the pit stop in last place. However, this is a non elimination round. They are still in the race but will have to complete a penalty in the next leg. I’m waiting for the episode to end and it keeps going with teams taking off for Sri Lanka. Ok, this is unusual. There is clearly something they want to leave us hanging on with this episode. We see teams arrive at the first task….and we have Phil there too. What have you got for us Phil? Phil announces a live double U-Turn vote. AHHHH, now I see why we’re getting left here. Matt and Michelle immediately basically say uh oh. LOL. Yeah, they’re in TROUBLE.

Standing for this leg of the race:
1 – Matt and Michelle
2 – Daisha and Dalton
3 – Conner and Garrett
4 – Anuar And Andrea
5 – Erin and Javi
6 – Ann Marie and Riley
7 – Ali and Joanna
8 – Doug and Dylan (Non elimination and still in the race)
