Hey everyone. Back for another week of this craziness of my thoughts on the entertainment world. Not really anything in particular to discuss this week. I just thought I’d throw some various stuff out there.
Joss Whedon did an interview in TV Guide where he says that he plans to keep the Buffyverse alive. No word on what but it is great to hear that he is interested in it. A Spike series has been talked and rumored about constantly and James Marsters is up for it. James just said they need to do it soon cause of his getting older and that no one will buy him as an aging vampire. I picked up the latest Buffy and Angel magazines and they were great reads. The Angel magazine was pretty much an Amy Acker issue so I always say that is a great thing. I did enter the Angel magazine contest to try and win a Puppet Angel toy. That thing looks awesome and I have to have one of those. It looks very realistic to that episode. There is a great article talking to former Angel producer, Jeffrey Bell, in which he discusses every episode of season 5 of Angel and gives some inside thoughts on the episodes. That is an excellent read. One thing that is in the works is an Angel comic book. In the new Angel magazine, there is an article about it along with pictures. There will be a 5 issue Angel series where it will pick up where the series left off. The show left us with a big cliffhanger so the comic will continue it. There will also be another comic book that will just focus on Angel. They wanted to do a comic where it will just deal with Angel the character and not also the crew around him. This will take place apparently way after the series finale. Buffy magazine has a great article where they give little known facts from the show and it’s entitled Trivial Pursuit. Here are a few things to throw at you and if you are still watching the shows and don’t want spoilers, go down to the next paragraph………………………………….Ok, if you’re still here, here we go. The Buffy crew made a lot of enemies in Torrance when they had all the explosions take place at Sunnydale High. The problem was that they warned the residents that they were going to do it but didn’t inform them of when they were going to do it. They blew it up at 5am and it woke up many residents and set off car alarms. Buffy was banned from taping there for a long time but returned 3 years later. Alyson Hannigan was actually the one that convinced Joss Whedon to let Nerf Herder write the theme song for Buffy. Was Michelle Trachtenberg in season 4? That seems to be the question. There was lots of hints that people have picked up on over the years of Dawn being on her way but there is a girl as an extra in season 4’s episode “Restless” where Xander is serving ice cream to people. To the left of him is a girl that looks just like Michelle from behind but it is unknown if it is her. The magazine says that Sarah Michelle Gellar did bring Michelle with her to the set that day and it is possible that she was used as an extra in that scene. Buffy’s birthdate has changed a ton in the series whether it is 1979, 1980, or 1981. This one is a really wild fact that just left me as wow and that is do you know that when Faith (as Buffy) is booking her plane ticket in season 4’s “Who Are You”, she gives the credit card’s expiry date as 05/01? Now if you know what happened at the end of season 5, you will know why that is such an interesting twist. There are other facts in this magazine and if you want to see more of these in the future, let me know and I’ll put some in a future Write Up.
Top Movies for this past weekend. Batman Begins brought in $46.9 million for the weekend and has brought in $71 million since it’s opening on the previous Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Smith drops to 2nd place with $27.3 million. In 3rd is Madagascar with $11.1 million. 4th place went to Star Wars Episode 3 with $9.7 million and it’s totals are now $347.8 million. The Perfect Man opened with $5.5 million. Box office numbers overall at the movies continue to fall to it’s lowest numbers since 1985. People just aren’t going to the movies anymore and are watching DVD’s more. We all have theories on that obviously whether it’s prices or just staying home. I actually would like to start going to the movies more as I really enjoyed going to the theatre again for the Star Wars movie. I actually have a lot of movies that I would like to see this summer, Batman Begins, Perfect Man, Herbie, and Fantastic Four.
I really like that Anna Nalick song “Breathe”. I may have to get her CD and she has an awesome voice. If anyone has heard the rest of her CD, let me know how it is. Backstreet’s new song, “Incomplete” is awesome too. It’s so wild with them being back. Haven’t heard how their album is doing but it will be interesting to see if their audience is still around since their hiatus of 3 years ago.
I’ve been talking about shows I need to check out in previous editions but I forgot to mention another show that I have been wanting to check out since it premiered and that is Veronica Mars. That show looks awesome and I hear great things about it. Why haven’t I checked it out? It’s on Tuesday. My Tuesday is loaded with Gilmore, One Tree Hill, and the Amazing Race. Veronica Mars did get renewed for a second season and they are putting the first season out on DVD before the season premiere this fall. I’ll be picking that up so I can check it out. Buffy alert to some of you. Alyson Hannigan has been a guest star on Veronica Mars in the first season.
Only 2 more weeks till Big Brother 6!!! Can’t wait for this to start up as always!!
Has anyone been on the AOL website to check out the Moviefone feature? I am on AOL but you can access it on their website without being a member. Just go to www.aol.com. They have a feature where they’ll have 2 stars of a movie interviewing each other with fan questions. So, each person will read the other one questions with just the two of them on the set. It is a lot of fun. I watched the one of Star Wars Episode 3 and it is fantastic. George Lucas and Hayden Christiansen were on it and it is really good. Highly recommend it. Not sure on how long it is but I’d bet it is close to 10 minutes long. It is a cool feature that you might want to check out every so often. I think the latest one is of Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear talking about “The Perfect Man”. I did watch that one too and it is cool.
