Hey everyone. I’m starting with an explosive week in the Big Brother house. Tonight’s episode was the best of the season in my opinion. First, let’s go back to last week. Sarah was voted out and Kaysar won the America’s Choice vote to be voted back into the house with 82% of the vote. The show went off the air last week while the HOH competition was underway. Saturday’s episode showed us the rest of the competition. Each person had to be in the pressure cooker which is basically like a glass cage while holding your finger down on your button. If you let go, you’re eliminated. Other twists were that when each person was eliminated you had to open a box inside the cooker. It could be a good prize for you as one prize was a 42″ plasma TV while another prize was the smell of a dead fish. Also, you can only leave in groups of 3. So, you could let go of your button but still have to stay in until 2 other people let go also. The competition went 15 hours. It came down to Kaysar and Jennifer. Jennifer wanted HOH bad and the plan was to backdoor James and get him out of the house. By backdoor, I mean that he would not be nominated first off but when the veto competition came up, James would not compete for the veto and whoever did win the veto would veto someone off and the HOH would put James up and he would be evicted. That didn’t happen. Let’s go back to Jennifer and Kaysar. Jennifer swore on her life that she would not put up anyone from Kaysar’s group and would stick with the plan to get rid of James. She would put up two people from her group as pawns while the James plan went into effect. So, Kaysar had her word and let off his button voluntarily and let her win HOH. Things changed soon after. She decided to not put up anyone from her group which is what she promised. She put up Rachel and Janelle for eviction infuriating everyone not in her group. The worst of her backpedaling on her deal was that Rachel won the veto and vetoed herself off. Jennifer and her group decided that they would put up Kaysar for eviction. So, Jennifer put up Kaysar for eviction against Janelle. This is after she promised that Kaysar was safe from a nomination. This sent the house into a tailspin as was seen tonight. It was flat out nasty in there this week with all of the name calling and yelling back and forth. Janelle and Beau were nose to nose at one point yelling at each other. Janelle and Howie just decided that they didn’t care anymore and were going to try and break up the Friendship group and start some dissension between them. It worked and they started unraveling. I don’t agree with them getting personal with the other person and talking about their families as I think the families should be left out of it as they aren’t playing this game. However, I just can’t feel sorry for April with her crying and all. April and that Friendship group have done nothing but talk trash on everyone for a long time and talk nasty stuff too about the other group. I tend to see April and Jennifer as the gossips of the group but they all talk. Ivette is actually looking more like the calm one of the Friendship group right now. Back to tonight’s eviction, Kaysar was evicted by a unanimous vote. You could cut the tension with a knife in the HOH competition as this was an important power struggle for control. Janelle won it and I let out a big cheer here when she won. The surprise for tonight was that nominations would be made immediately instead of having time to think about it. So, she put up Maggie and Jennifer for eviction. There will be an eviction on Saturday night as it will be a double eviction week. I am thrilled that Janelle got HOH. Obviously I am pulling for Rachel, Janelle, and Howie. Some other thoughts from the shows. I had to laugh at Jennifer’s speech to Julie Chen on who she’d put up if she was HOH this coming week when she replied that she’d put up James cause they have to get rid of him. What???!!!! That was the plan this past week and that was what she was supposed to do but didn’t!!! Wow, when Julie was talking to all the houseguests for the first time tonight, was that mood different than normal or what? I was glad to see that as I get tired of everyone being all happy go lucky after the hurt feelings from the week with all the laughing and fake hugs. Everyone was mad tonight and it showed. I think James might be in a good spot right now. Both sides are furious with the other and James is just the man in the middle against everyone. If he just stays quiet and doesn’t stir anything up, he could be in a good spot.
Ok, that was a lot of Big Brother info but this was a very interesting week and great episode tonight. Guess what? I have some movie reviews. Yep, I am once again getting caught up on movies but I have more to go still. First, let’s start with The Pacifier. I really enjoyed this movie and it is just really fun. The movie stars Vin Diesel as a Navy S.E.A.L. who is sent to protect a family after an assignment goes wrong with the father of the family. The cast is very good and I first noticed how we had two TV moms and one TV daughter in the movie. The moms are Lauren Graham (Lorelei Gilmore) and Faith Ford (Hope Shenowski) while the daughter is Brittany Snow (Meg Pryor). I’d recommend this movie as it’s a lot of fun and I had a lot of laughs while watching it. The next review I have is of Drive Me Crazy. Yes, to all of you that have been stunned with how I haven’t seen this movie especially with what my favorite movies are, you can now rest easy and quit shaking your head at me. ha ha. I have been aiming on watching this movie for years and I’ve owned it for over a year but just got to finally watch it. I loved this movie. It stars Melissa Joan Hart and Adrian Grenier. The movie revolves around the big centennial dance with Melissa Joan Hart’s character wanting to have the perfect date for the dance with the high school basketball star named Brad. Hey, good name. Melissa and Adrian’s characters live next to each other and used to be best friends in elementary school but as they got older they ended up growing apart and ended up being in different crowds as far as friends go. This movie had some similarities to Can’t Buy Me Love with how Adrian’s character starts to end up with the popular crowd while tending to leave his friends behind. If you like movies like 10 Things I Hate About You or even Can’t Buy Me Love, you’ll like this movie too. So, I’ve watched the movie now and as you expected, I loved it. Now get off my back. ha ha!!!!!
DirecTV is offering a sneak peek at the upcoming season of the WB and I checked it out earlier this week. The whole thing is about 30 minutes long and I really enjoyed it. It is on channel 101 and it repeats over and over all the time and will stay on till August 21st. They focused mostly on the new shows starting this fall but also did talk about the returning shows. First, I’ll start with the new shows. They did a really extended preview of the show, Supernatural. This stars Jared Padelecki from Gilmore Girls. I think this might be a show that some of you might want to check out. It looks like it has promise for sure. Other shows that were given an extended preview are a Don Johnson show called Just Legal, Twins starring Sara Gilbert and also features Mark Linn Baker from Perfect Strangers. I wasn’t really sure what to think of Twins but I think it could be all right. Just Legal looks like it could be pretty decent. It features Don Johnson’s character teaming up with an 18 year old legal prodigy. They team up as a lawyer team. Next up was a show called Related which is a story about 4 sisters and is written by Marta Kaufman from Friends and writers from other shows such as Sex and the City and Will and Grace. It could be decent too. As far as returning shows, we didn’t get much as far as previews of the upcoming season. Gilmore Girls just featured a recap of the events of the season finale. So, we got nothing there for the cliffhangers we got left on!! One Tree Hill was just kind of a montage of the last few episodes. They did an awesome 3 minute 7th Heaven promo!!! This was an extended look back at the previous 10 years of the show hitting all the major storylines. 7th Heaven has set the mark for being the longest running family drama ever with it coming back for it’s 10th season. After I saw that extended promo, I thought immediately that I have to record that thing.
I am hearing great reviews on the Muppet Show season 1 DVD set. People are loving that thing. I may have to pick this one up as I love the Muppets. Some things you just never out grow!! I hear they did a great job with that set. Joss Whedon gave Veronica Mars a huge recommendation. He said that it was his favorite show EVER. I still can’t wait to check this show out as I’m waiting for the first season DVD to be released in the next couple of months. They have put a few reruns on CBS in the last few weeks trying to get it some more exposure to get people to watch it this fall on UPN. Here is what Joss had to say about the show in a recent post:
This is my attempt at posting my own thread. My peeps and I just finished a crazed Veronica Marsathon, and I can no longer restrain myself. Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I’ve never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn’t making, and maybe even more than those. Crazy crisp dialogue. Incredibly tight plotting. Big emotion, I mean BIG, and charsimatic actors and I was just DYING from the mystery and the relationships and PAIN, this show knows from pain and no, I don’t care, laugh all you want, I had to share this. These guys know what they’re doing on a level that intimidates me. It’s the Harry Potter of shows. There. I said it. People should do whatever they can to check out this first season so the second won’t be a spoiler fest. I’m nutty. I’m a little calmer now. Oh God, no I’m not! Wait. Wait. Okay. Some of you may already be all up on this, and some may disagree, but I’m urging peeps to check it out, ’cause there is great TV afoot, and who doesn’t want that? Thank you for your time.
Well, I just bought this DVD about a couple of months ago and I just now learned that there will be a Clueless special “whatever” edition DVD coming out August 30th. That’s how it goes. It has quite a few bonus features on it that the original DVD didn’t have. If you like the movie, give it a look for sure. Amazon is pre-selling it for $13.99. CBS has released the info on the upcoming cast members of both Survivor and the Amazing Race. The Survivor cast is a younger group this year for the most part. I’m not sure how the family experiment is going to turn out for the Amazing Race. I did notice that the promos for the Amazing Race talking about registering for the next one did go back to two. It makes me wonder if the experiment didn’t go well with the families and if they just decided to go back to what got them there with teams of two instead of four.
TV Land did an all weekend marathon of Night Court this past weekend to celebrate it being added to the TV Land lineup. This was fun to watch as it is hard to find this show on anymore unfortunately. I remember in 1996-97, the local channel here used to air this show on late Friday night/Saturday morning and would air about 5 episodes in a row. I used to play on the internet and watch that. It was always fun. Great to see this show getting some airtime again as I think it is hilarious!!!
Well, that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend.
