Let’s get to the up and down week in the Big Brother house. Well, after tonight’s show it just feels like all the wind has been taken out of the sails especially if you don’t like the Friendship group. Let’s go back to Saturday night’s special eviction show. Janelle had put up Jennifer and Maggie for eviction. The talk then came about that they wanted Jennifer gone so they wanted to be sure that she was evicted. So, Janelle decided that if they put up Ivette against her that it would mean that Jennifer would get the votes to go for sure. Janelle won the veto and used the veto and took Maggie off the block and put up Ivette against Jennifer. The look on Maggie’s face was priceless as she was shocked to be taken off the block. Jennifer was then voted out on a 5-1 vote. That was the good part of the week. Now comes the bad. Beau won HOH. The Friendship was back in control and have put a shrine of Eric up in the HOH room. Beau put up Rachel and Howie for eviction. James won the HOH AGAIN for the 5th time. He chose not to use the veto and left the nominations as is which was his best move. Rachel was voted out on a 5-0 vote tonight. It came down to James, April, and Janelle in the HOH competition. April ended up winning a tie breaker over Janelle to win HOH. Noooo! Another week for the Friendship to be in power. The numbers are dwindling on the other side as that group is down to Howie and Janelle with James floating in between groups. Surely, either Howie or Janelle will be evicted next week unless the Friendship decides to go after their original plan and get James out of the house. James is in the best spot right now and it is starting to look like Big Brother 2 all over again. Will was a target in Big Brother 2 from early on in the show. The houseguests tried to evict him all the time and it always turned out that he would avoid eviction due to others getting mad at each other. He just laid back and let everyone take each other out, lied to everyone and played both sides, and there he was at the end. He was nominated for eviction probably more times than anyone in Big Brother history and won the game. I am pulling for James too along with Janelle and Howie as James has been against the odds. As long as someone from the Friendship doesn’t win, that’s good with me. My point is that the Friendship have to turn on each other sometime and that could be ugly. Watching them implode could be really fun. The America’s Choice question where fans can vote is on which houseguest we would like to see receive a call from home. I would love to see Janelle, Howie, or even James win this, Here is a reminder in case you didn’t catch it and that is that Big Brother will air on Saturday night. The next episode will be on Tuesday.
I watched the Battle of the Network Reality Stars show on Bravo last night. It’s a remake of the old Battle of the Network TV Stars show from years ago. This new series features reality stars from Survivor, the Amazing Race, Big Brother, Real World, Road Rules, Apprentice, Average Joe, and more. I enjoyed watching it. Some of the stars on it that you may recognize are Dr. Evil Will and Mike Boogie from Big Brother 2, Will from Big Brother 5. Chip and Kim, Mirna and Charla, all four from the Amazing Race. Gervace Petersen, Richard Hatch, and Sue Hawk from Survivor. The Miz, Coral, and Melissa Howard from the Real World. It seems like the Miz always ends up in these challenge shows. Nikki McKibbin and Ryan Starr from American Idol. There are 4 teams and they compete against each other in various challenges. One team wins for the day and then sometimes the bottom 3 teams in the standings have to vote someone off the team. The 2nd episode saw only one team have to vote off someone but they had to vote off 2 members in a twist. The other twist was cool but complicated to explain so I’m not going to try. I’m going to keep watching this. Once again, it is on Bravo if you want to see it. It’s on multiple times during the week with new episodes premiering on Wednesday night.
Here are some music numbers for you. This is a list of the top 5 albums in the country last week along with the amount of copies sold.
- Hilary Duff – Most Wanted – 200,477 copies
- Brad Paisley – Time Well Wasted – 196,613 copies
- Mariah Carey – Emancipation of Mimi – 108,919 copies
- Now That’s What I Call Music 19 – 106,848 copies
- 311 – Don’t Tread On Me – 91,379 copies
Well, there seems to be some real confusion going on involving the American Dreams alternate ending getting aired. NBC said a few weeks ago that they were going to air the extra 15 minutes to wrap up the series. Now on TV Guide’s website, they have a column where readers can ask questions about whatever TV questions they have. Someone asked about any more news on the finale. The guy at TV Guide said that he has emailed NBC on many occasions and is not getting any responses and is now wondering if all of us fans of the show were getting played. He did say that if they were messing with us that they will pay for it. Sounds like TV Guide is gonna blast NBC if they did just mess with us. I guess we’ll have to see if we get a real ending to the show or if NBC just stays dumb and leaves us with the season finale cliffhanger before it was canceled. Like I said, the ending was taped in advance in case the show was canceled. So, it does exist and is ready to be aired. If they don’t air it, maybe we’ll get the rest of the seasons on DVD. I’ll recommend it again and that is that they did a phenomenal job on the season 1 set.
Some news for all of you Friends fans. You already knew about November 15th being the date for the last season of Friends to be released on DVD. On the same day, a Friends seasons 1-10 box set will be released for all the fans that haven’t bought them and want them in one big box set. It is available for $209 on Amazon.com pre-order. It comes with a special collectors box to store all the seasons in. Now I know what you’re saying, what about all of us fans that have been buying the seasons as they’ve been released? What good does it do us? Well, Warner Brothers has said that they are going to give us the option to get the special collectors box also so we can store our season sets in it. It will be available via a mail-in offer that will be inside Friends Season 10. The box looks very nice and if you want to see what it looks like, email me and I’ll send you the picture. That’s not all though. A Friends trivia game is coming out too for $19.99 on Playstation 2 and PC. I’m assuming it will be released on the same day or around the same time as season 10. It includes over 3000 trivia questions and 700 video clips from all 10 seasons. I’ll be picking that up too as I’m sure that will be fun. All of you Friends fans, we’ll have to get together and play this some time when it is released. November is looking good to be a Friends fan for sure.
In a follow up from the syndicated episodes on TV DVD sets discussion from a few weeks back, the TV Shows On DVD site has finally had enough of these lazy TV DVD releases by companies and has said that they aren’t going to be nice about it anymore. If they find out about syndicated episodes being put on box sets, they are going to put it on the site and make sure everyone knows about it while giving the company 2 days to respond to why they did it. Great step there and maybe it will get the attention of these companies to get them to quit doing such bad and lazy jobs on some of these TV to DVD sets.
Here is some various news and notes. The Angel comic books based on the TV series are now out. I have been looking for them but have had little luck yet. I think I may end up having to order them. The Curse series is out now and that is the one that picks up with Angel way after the series finale took place. In other Angel news, the demand was so high on the Puppet Angel toys that the company has decided to do more versions of Puppet Angel. The battle damaged version of Puppet Angel is now available for pre-order and will be released in early 2006. If you want one, you’d better jump on it cause the original Puppet Angel toys went fast!!!! Bill Maher’s show on HBO is back for another season and premiered last Friday night. It is seen on Friday nights with multiple replays during the week. This is the only show on HBO that I go out of my way to watch. Good political discussion on this show.
I was flipping around the channels the other night and saw Jimmy Kimmel was doing a contest there in LA where they had a camera live at this gas station. They would have someone pump gas and predict what their total cost was going to be. If they got within a dollar under or a dollar over of their guess, the show would pay for their gas. No one got it right but one guy was only 5 dollars off. It was fun to watch and something fun to at least try to make some kind of fun out of these ridiculous gas prices!!
Have a great weekend!
