Hey everyone. Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying this great spring weather!! I was watching Twister the other night on TBS just as I was about to go to sleep. I ended up watching a lot of it staying up later than I wanted. This made me come up with a question for all of you. What favorite movies do you have that you end up watching no matter how many times you’ve seen them? I’m talking of movies that you end up watching instead of getting up to do something else or even getting to sleep on time. Movies that you never grow tired of. Some of mine are Back To The Future 1, 2, & 3. Twister, Independence Day, Clueless, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Fast Times At Ridgemont High. There are others but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Let me know some of those movies that keep you in front of the TV.
Wow, we almost had a stunner last night on American Idol!! Well, it really was a stunner anyway. Katharine McPhee was in the bottom two last night. The bottom three were Katharine, Lisa Tucker, and Ace Young. Ace was sent back to safety and it came down to Katharine and Lisa. Lisa was sent home and Katharine was safe. Whew. We almost had what I consider one of the top two in this competition go home. Her and Chris are the best in my opinion. Now, keep in mind that last year’s runner up, Bo Bice, was in the bottom two on one show also. This happens every year where one of the top ones have gotten to the bottom three. My theory and many others’ theory on this is that Katharine is seen as really good. Fans don’t think she needs the votes so fans vote for some of the underdogs. I have to say that I saw it coming when it came down between her and Bucky on who was in the bottom three. They sometimes will set you up like that with thinking the obvious one is safe only for them not to be safe. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again cause we need Katharine in this competition as she is really good. Poor Lisa. I had originally picked her to get to the final four. She just didn’t connect with the audience for some reason. She has been in the bottom three several times but this time went home. This week saw the contestants struggle for the most part with doing 21st century songs. There were a few exceptions but I agree with the judges that the song choice wasn’t very good for most of the contestants. Next week is country week with the remaining nine contestants all singing country.
I finally picked up the Best and Worst of American Idol DVD set so I’m going to review it in the future. I have just looked at bits and pieces of it and it looks like a lot of fun so look for that review in the future.
The new version of Microsoft Windows has been delayed due to security reasons. What a shocker!! Windows with security problems? That never happens. Note my sarcasm there. The new Vista system will now be released in January to consumers instead of before the holidays. This will be the first new Windows system released since Windows XP in 2001. Microsoft also announced today that there is a management shake up on the heels of their delay announcement last week.
I read an interesting article last week talking about the state of sitcoms. Everyone has talked about how people just aren’t watching sitcoms anymore and that the era of the sitcom is over. Well, that is not true. There are two current sitcoms that were in the top 20 last week. This was How I Met Your Mother and The New Adventures Of Old Christine. How I Met Your Mother has easily been the biggest new sitcom hit of the year and again I say, watch that show!! It is really good!! One of my favorite shows right now. Here is where it gets interesting. People are watching sitcoms but they are watching old sitcoms. The reruns of Seinfeld, Friends, and Everybody Loves Raymond are doing REALLY well. The ratings are high for all of those shows. That is where all the sitcom viewers have gone. They are watching the great sitcoms from the past that they know and love. Nick at Nite is also doing very well with Roseanne and the Cosby Show among others. People have talked lately about how sitcoms just aren’t very original and good anymore. The two current shows that I mentioned above are the unique sitcoms with a different story and show idea. It shows that when you come with a really good sitcom idea that viewers will tune in. I also am one of those fans that isn’t currently watching a lot of new sitcoms. I have the ones that I like and stick with. I bet you that I watch Seinfeld and Friends on TV at least 5 out of 7 days of the week. I laugh just as hard at these reruns that I’ve seen over and over despite how many times I’ve seen them. It just goes to show that the audience is there but that they want quality over quantity. It’s up to
If any of you remember the show, the Hogan Family or also known as Valerie or Valerie’s Family, it is coming back in reruns. ABC Family is set to start airing the show at 11am-12pm weekdays starting next week. This is the first time that this show has been seen in several years and I am very much looking forward to its return as this was one of my favorite shows growing up. It was hilarious.
Survivor returns tonight on CBS after being bumped for 2 weeks due to the tournament. I haven’t talked much about Survivor in recent weeks as I just don’t think its been very exciting so far. This season needs a shot of something to pick it up. Hopefully it starts tonight.
Our ESPN NCAA Tournament game has come to a sudden stop as none of us have any picks left that we can get points on. The most people that we’ve ever had in the game and it’s the first time that no one can gain points in the final four. That is how crazy this tournament has been!! I read that there are three people in New York City that actually picked all the final four teams. WOW. So, we had a great time with this tourney and I hope that all of you that played had fun too!! Congrats to Ashley who won the tournament challenge!!
I got to check out the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoons in the last couple of weeks. I highly recommend checking these out if you’re a Star Wars fan. The stories take place between Episodes 2 and 3. It helps introduce some characters and sets up some things for Episode 3. There are two volumes of Clone Wars with each running about an hour a piece.
Shia LaBeouf, of Even Stevens fame, is said to be in final negotiations to star in the upcoming live action Transformers movie. The movie is based off the cartoon series. The movie is set to be released on July 4, 2007. Being a Transformers fan, I’m really hoping that they do a good job of this movie!!
