More Big Brother talk. There was no town hall meeting on House Calls. Bummer. They did have Boogie and Erika on the last episode with an appearance by Will who called in and then showed up at the very end as they were going off the air. Nothing big came out of the interview. Some callers let Mike have it on things that he did but Erika took some heat at times too. Real.com is now doing live video chats with houseguests to help keep people subscribed. There has been one chat with Chilltown and the next night had Kaysar. Real had serious troubles with it the first night as no one could get the chat to load up to watch it. I was one of those that couldn’t get it to load and it took 30 minutes for them to get it straight. They are putting up an archive of it but I saw half of it. The Kaysar one had no technical troubles. Don’t forget that they are also replaying the live feeds over from the beginning for subscribers. They are in week 2 as Diane was just nominated on the feeds last night. Blogs are starting to be written from the houseguests. Marcellas has written on his blog about this season of Big Brother. This is part of what he wrote. “I didn’t win Big Brother All-Stars but I got Danielle. I got Diane. I got Erika. I got Janelle and now it seems I have Amy back. Who knew I’d make-up with Danielle and now even Amy? Maybe, for me, the show was about closure. And a side of growth. I already love all those knuckleheads from All-Stars. Yep, even Howie, even Boogie. Okay “loves” a bit strong…Let’s say forgive. It was just a very strange game. And we did the best we could.” Boogie has posted on his site an invitation to everyone for a huge party and thanked all the fans for watching the show this summer. Will posted on his My Space that he has several appearances upcoming including that he had filmed a part on The Young and The Restless which will air on October 23rd. There has been a ton of speculation of Will being on The Amazing Race in the future. He had this to say about that. “While there has been much talk regarding CBS’s The Amazing Race – there is nothing official to report…..yet.”

The Covenant – $4.7 million. 6. Invincible – $3.9 million. 7. The Illusionist – $3.8 million. 8. Little Miss Sunshine – $3.4 million. 9. Hollywoodland – $2.7 million. 10. Crank – $2.7 million.
I got to see Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby last weekend. Fun movie. Plenty of laughs in it. One concern was on whether all the funny moments were in the trailer cause that does happen a lot with movies. I had seen a lot of the funny stuff in it but there were plenty of others that were unseen in the trailer and also in promotional appearances. A surprise was just how full the theater was for the movie. It has been out for several weeks now but still had a ton of people there. Fun movie. Fun night.
The WB wrapped up its programming this past Sunday. Fun night of watching the pilot episodes from the WB’s past. Sad to see the network go cause that was the network that I’ve watched the most in the last eight years or so. It also makes me feel old!! It is amazing how many stars have launched off of shows on that network. The list is long of shows that I watched on there. My earliest memory of the WB is how WGN helped launch the network. When the WB started, it didn’t have a whole lot of affiliates. So, WGN helped them out by showing them on cable. One of the first shows that I watched on the network was Dawson’s Creek. I remember seeing the promos and reading the previews about this midseason show launching on the WB. So, I tuned into the first episode of Dawson’s Creek in January 1998 and was hooked by the end of the episode. By the end of the first episode, I was also in love with Katie Holmes too. ha ha!! I watched every week until May 2003 when the show finished. WGN did eventually stop running WB programming later that same year in 1998. WDKA here locally picked up WB programming although they were also running UPN programming. They shared the two until WDKA became a WB only station in April 2000. They have aired the WB ever since. I think Dawson’s Creek was my favorite first episode to watch again on Sunday night. Buffy and Angel? I’ve seen those first episodes several times here lately actually. Felicity? I haven’t seen the first episode of it in a long time and that was fun to watch again. Ok, let me see if I can run a list of shows that I watched the most over the years: Dawson’s Creek, Buffy, Angel, Roswell, Gilmore Girls, 7th Heaven, One Tree Hill, What I Like About You, and tons more. The WB’s tag line for this last night of tribute programming was “the network that spanned a generation”. It absolutely did.
Only bummer about the farewell night of the WB is that I knew good and well that we weren’t seeing everything. I’m talking about promos. WDKA ran local commercials over every bit of anything that had WB on it and just ran the shows themselves. It took some of the fun out of it cause I wanted to see what the WB had planned promo wise. Not sure if any other stations out there did the same thing but in case they did or if you didn’t get to see them, They are really well done as always. All of them are 20-30 seconds long except for the sign off video which is a minute long. Definitely check them out.
With the WB gone, the CW Network kicked off this week. The season started last night with the first new show airing with America’s Top Model premiering. The show got a 3.1 in the first hour and jumped to a 3.6 in the second hour which put them neck and neck with Fox’s “Justice” in that hour.
2 weeks. That was how quickly I finished the first season of Veronica Mars. That is way ahead of pace for me on watching a season of a one hour shows. My goal is to finish season 2 in time for the October 3rd premiere of season 3 on the new CW Network. Hey, I’m on pace!! The first season was really good!! It’s a great mix of mystery, drama, and comedy. I can definitely see the Buffy/Angel comparisons as far as writing goes. One giant storyline with each episode also having its own story. Sometimes the episodes will have effect on to the big story and sometimes it doesn’t. One thing is for sure is that it is a very smart show as it keeps you on your toes with the story. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it!! This show has definitely jumped into my top 5 favorite shows list.
The info has been released on the new Nintendo system. The Nintendo Wii will be released on November 19th which is two days after the PS3 release. The price will be $250.
The changes for this season of Saturday Night Live have been announced and some of the speculation was true. There will only be 11 cast regulars compared to last season’s 16. Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch leaving on their own was already known about. Here are the new names that are gone, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, and Finesse Mitchell. In other SNL news, Seth Meyers has been picked to host Weekend Update with Amy Poehler. The new season kicks off on September 30th on NBC.
Survivor’s new season kicked off last week with a 10.1 rating easily winning the hour but the other networks were showing reruns. The number is down compared to other Survivor seasons. I didn’t comment on the premiere last week cause I’ve kind of learned with this show to wait a few weeks to figure the people and the season out. As far as thoughts on the premiere, I just kind of thought “eh”. Just kind of a so so premiere. Nothing really exciting. Tonight’s episode was a lot better. I thought it would have been hilarious if the guy that wanted the tribe to lose so they could vote someone else out would have gotten the boot.
On the other hand, The Amazing Race premiered on Sunday and it was fun. Phil told all the racers at the beginning that there would be plenty of surprises so to think twice if they thought they knew this race. A twist was thrown in at the halfway point of the first leg of the race as there was an elimination. That has never been done. Good idea to throw that in so early in the race cause now all the racers are going to be on their game not knowing when something like that could happen. Fun first episode and hopefully the rest of the season will be the same.
Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother. Several laugh out loud moments in it.
Lots of ratings stuff as far as debuts go. The Today Show’s debut with Meredith Vierra got 6.9 million viewers which is the highest that the show has gotten since Katie Couric’s departure. Katie’s last show got 8.4 million viewers. Going against Meredith’s debut, Good Morning America had 4.4 million viewers while CBS’s Early Show had 2.7 million. This was the biggest ratings win for the Today Show in about two years. Move over Martha Stewart cause you have company as Rachael Ray’s new show debuted this week. Rachael’s show had the highest ratings for a debut talk show since the premiere of Dr. Phil.
You can get famous off of You Tube. Have you heard the story of Lonely Girl 15? This girl would talk to the camera like many other people do on You Tube. It turns out though that this girl was an actress. Her name isn’t the same as it is on the videos and she was actually hired by a couple of guys to do this. It was revealed last week that she was an actress. Where will all this get you? An appearance on CBS’s Early Show. She said that they plan to keep making videos and go on like nothing is different with her playing the role.
