The Survivor finale was this past Sunday night. Good show. Yul won the million dollars with 5 votes to Ozzie’s 4 and Becky’s 0. I really liked the twist of having a final three instead of a final two. I think it made it more interesting cause what were the odds of it being Yul vs. Ozzie? The final two is most of the time a strong player against someone that they think that they can beat. This allowed the two strongest players this season to go head to head. There was one clear thing about this final three and that was Becky didn’t have a chance!! I knew that immediately and knew she wouldn’t get one vote. She had no chance against those two strong players. Yul and Ozzie played a very different game. Yul played more of a mental game while Ozzie played a physical game. I would have been happy with either of them winning. How about the fire challenge between Becky and Sundra where neither of them could start a fire after an hour and a half? They even had matches for the last thirty minutes. Sundra ran out of matches leaving it in Becky’s hands. Becky did finally get a fire started advancing her to the final three. The reunion show saw no hurt feelings between everyone and was actually one of the nicer and tamer seasons ever. The only drama came with Jonathan. Good season overall and I enjoyed it. The next season will take place in Fiji with there now being two hidden immunity idols.
Season 8 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer is on its way. Ok, it’s not in TV form but this is something that I have discussed before. There will be a new comic book coming out in March from Dark Horse that is going to take place after the 7th season of the show. Joss Whedon is on board with the project along with a lot of talent including several of the Buffy TV writing staff. Here is who is on board for the project: Brian K. Vaughan (Ex Machina), Brad Meltzer (Justice League of America) and Jeph Loeb (Onslaught Reborn), and Buffy TV writers: Jane Espenson, Drew Goddard, Drew Greenberg and Steven DeKnight. The series will be a lot like the show in that there will be a big story line carrying over but there will be standalone plots as well. Whedon had this to say about the project: I have some extremely powerhouse comic book people who surprisingly threw their hats in, and then some of my best show writers. I approached the guys I did because I knew they could bring something not just get it done, but really bring something to the party. When asked about any Angel crossover, Whedon said IDW got the Angel franchise license, and they’ve been working really hard on it and doing some good stuff with it, so it is not my intention to completely bone them, But Spike and Angel are also people who should be used kind of sparingly, because they’re the big guns. The opportunity is there, and if the story dictates it, well, the story is king. When asked about new fans getting involved, he said Obviously I’m going to have callbacks and characters from the show. But at the same time, it’s always the mandate that somebody jumping in can go, Okay, slayers are strong, vampires and demons are not so good and Willow ís hot.
I can’t wait for this to be released!! I will definitely be covering this in the Wrap Up.
I watched the first episode of the new original TBS series, My Boys. The show is about a woman who is a sports writer and all of her friends except one are guys that she has known for several years. She ends up meeting a guy played by Kyle Howard who gets a spot on their softball team. They have a sort of date but he gets turned off when he feels like she is hitting on him like a guy due to her being around her guy friends all the time. I liked the premiere all right and I’m going to watch some more episodes to see if I like it. Kyle Howard being in the show could be very good as he is a very funny actor. He cracked me up all the time when he was on Run Of The House on The WB a few years ago.
Sony BMG has reached a settlement over the case of their CD’s. They will not be allowed to put software on their CD’s anymore that was put on there to limit the amount of copies that a person could make of a CD. Problem was that it also messed up the computers of a lot of people that bought the CD’s. An outside agency came to the conclusion that they didn’t think Sony was trying to put Spyware on computers to find out more about their customers so those claims were thrown out. Sony will be paying civil penalties and costs in Texas and California. Sony BMG will be giving refunds to customers in California up to $175 to each customer who fills out a form telling of the damage and expenses caused from it. I am not seeing what has been done in Texas yet but something similar is expected and other states may jump in this too. It appears that the computer problems were only happening on Windows systems. The Los Angeles district attorney had this comment, “In trying to gain market share, companies need to be sensitive to consumers’ rights to privacy, especially in the electronic age.” The state attorney had this comment, “Companies that want to load their CDs with software that limits the ability to copy music should fully inform consumers about it, not hide it, and make sure it doesn’t inflict security vulnerabilities on computers. To its credit, Sony BMG learned this lesson and has stopped the practices that led to this lawsuit.” In a time when music sales are generally down, this was not a positive story for the music industry.
The season premiere of King Of The Hill has been moved back one week to Sunday, January 28th. It will also be in a different time slot as it will follow The Simpsons at 7:30pm. I think that will be a good thing for both shows and love that combination.
A new Transformers movie trailer has been released and Yahoo has it. They are saying it is exclusive to them. Go here to watch it:

Definitely the most that we’ve been given as far as overall look of the movie. Pretty impressive looking.

Soap Net is now near the halfway point of season two of Beverly Hills 90210. Getting on to the topic of the DVD music replacement, that season one won’t be near the same without all the music that I was hearing. That is for sure a show that needs to have the music intact and not be partly replaced by current music from a different era. I have to say that I REALLY enjoyed watching season one again as I haven’t seen these episodes in a long time. I can see the opening scene and immediately recall what episode that it is. Yeah, I’m a nerd!! I forgot how good that first season was!!
The CD’s are rolling out from the finalists from season five of American Idol. Here are the comparisons from the Billboard charts. Season five winner, Taylor Hicks had his album debut at number two last week selling 298,000 copies. Chris Daughtry’s album hit stores big a few weeks ago and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart selling 304,000 copies in its first week. Jay-Z’s new album was the only thing keeping Daughtry from the top spot. Daughtry has sold 795,000 total to date. Kellie Pickler’s CD debuted a few weeks ago debuting at number nine on the Billboard 200 selling 79,000 copies but was number one on the Billboard Country chart. She has sold 260,000 to date. Katharine McPhee’s album has been pushed back and is looking like it will be released on January 30th. Season three winner, Fantasia, had her second album debut last week at number 19 selling 133,000 copies. In other Idol news, we are down to less than a month away from the season six premiere. Idol is promising a “huge show” in the middle of the season that an Idol producer is saying will “blow America away”.
