I heard some sports reporters talking this morning about how they thought that Thursday and Friday are the greatest sports days of the whole year. This is referring to the first round of the NCAA tournament. After thinking about it, I think I may have to agree. It is amazing drama and you never know what might happen. Most of Thursday was anti-climatic but as I type this, Duke just got knocked out in typical NCAA craziness. Good luck to all of you that are competing in our tournament pool. We always have a great time with it every year and this year is more of the same.
I want to take a minute to wish Regis Philbin all the best wishes in his recovery from triple bypass surgery. He announced the news on Monday’s Live With Regis and Kelly that he would be having the surgery. Regis is one of my all time favorite people on TV. I’ve been watching his show for about 20 years now and he is an absolute class act. He and Kelly always get my morning off to a good start with a lot of laughs. Here is to hoping for a speedy recovery. If you’d like to send Regis some get well wishes, head over to www.liveregisandkelly.com.
Who will be taking the place of Regis over the next few weeks? Here are some of the co-hosts, most of which are substitute co-host regulars on there such as Jeff Probst, Pat Sajak, and Howie Mandel.

We are now out on the big stage on American Idol as the top 12 performed this week. Tuesday’s episode was pretty much more of the same. The ones that have been good were good, ones in the middle were in the middle, and the ones that have struggled continued to do so. I tend to find myself getting behind Gina Glocksen although there are several others that I like too. Here is a note to the judges. Please stop with the “you look beautiful tonight” at the beginning of your criticism. The contestants know what is coming when you say it and they are rolling their eyes at it cause they know that you’re setting them up for some heavy criticism. I also have to say thank you to Simon Cowell for helping out Haley Scarnato by giving her some good feedback cause the bad was starting to wear on her big time. She is very likable and I found it interesting that Diana Ross said that she had a better studio voice than a performing voice. That tends to happen a lot with singers so I’d like to see what music someone could produce with her. Going home on Wednesday night was Brandon Rogers. The bottom three were Brandon, Sanjaya Malakar, and Phil Stacey. One thing that I have to mention with this week’s Idol. You have 30 minutes to do what is a results show. How do you let yourself run out of time to where the person voted off doesn’t even get to perform? The show went off the air just as Ryan was introducing Brandon to perform for the last time.
Happy 10 year anniversary to Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The show premiered on March 10, 1997 on The WB. It is just amazing to me how all these things that seem like just happened not long ago are suddenly ten years ago. This anniversary of Buffy’s debut has been getting all kinds of retro coverage all over the internet.

I hope my NCAA tournament picks don’t end up like my Amazing Race picks but I took the equivalent of a bracket buster on Sunday. Rob and Amber are out. I can’t believe it!! They won three in a row and then lose on the fourth leg of the race. To top it all off, here were my picks in the Race challenge game. I had Oswald and Danny going out and I had Rob and Amber winning the leg of the race. If you watched the show, you’ll know it went completely opposite. Oswald and Danny won and then of course Rob and Amber were eliminated. Unreal!! Rob and Amber were up to their usual tactics in this episode and it did help them a little but not enough. I am disappointed that they are eliminated based on the fact that whether you like them or don’t like them, they’re good TV. My upset pick of Oswald and Danny obviously didn’t work so let’s see if I can get back on track as this week, I have Charla and Mirna being eliminated. I tend to think though that this next episode will see a non-elimination round cause we haven’t had one yet.
I’m very happy to see Nick at Nite airing reruns of Growing Pains. One of my favorite shows of all time. Hopefully, it stays on for a while.
NBC has announced that 30 Rock will be switching time slots beginning on April 5th. 30 Rock will air at 8pm switching time slots with Scrubs.
Well, here is a not so happy sign if you are a Gilmore fan. Melissa McCarthy, who plays Sookie on Gilmore Girls, is reportedly set to play a role in a new ABC pilot called “Sam I Am”. Wow, I hope this isn’t the last Gilmore season.
Kristen Bell, who of course plays Veronica on Veronica Mars, will play Sarah Marshall in a romantic comedy called “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” which begins shooting this summer. The movie also stars Jason Segel from How I Met Your Mother who is also screenwriter of the movie.
ABC is set to do a game show based on Bingo. It looks like the show may premiere at the end of May. One player will take on members of the studio audience in a game of Bingo. I’ll be interested to see how exciting that they can make a game of Bingo.
