BAD news for Gilmore fans as some surprising news came out today. Gilmore Girls will end after this current, 7th season. Warner Brothers and The CW issued this statement today announcing the end of the show: “Announcing the final season of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters. We thank Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino, Dave Rosenthal, the amazing cast led by Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, as well as the producers, writers and crew for giving us this delightful gem for the past seven years. We would also like to thank the critics and ‘Gilmore’ fans for their passionate support and promise to give this series the send-off it deserves.” Wow, I was so completely bummed and stunned with reading this news!! Stunned because the word for the last two or three weeks has been that the show was coming back for an 8th season but it would be a shortened season of 13 episodes. Not sure what fell apart but everyone seemed under the impression that the show was returning. This caught a lot of entertainment reporters off guard. The show has two episodes left and the series finale will air on Tuesday, May 15th on The CW. The statement is kind of odd at the end with the “promise to give this series the send-off it deserves” considering that the finale was shot weeks ago. This show is going to be greatly missed!! Did I mention that I’m bummed?
Veronica Mars is FINALLY back with new episodes. The first new episode aired on Tuesday night and was a great episode. Loved it!! Good cliffhanger at the end with Veronica reluctantly showing up at Parker’s birthday party that was being thrown by Logan. Then, we got the moment at the end that a lot of us have been waiting for (well, besides the Veronica/Logan fans) as we got the sign of a possible hookup of Veronica and Piz. He kissed her outside and then was going to leave knowing that she didn’t feel the same about him. She chased him down kissing him in front of the elevator. Elevator opens and there is Logan returning to the party. Ooohhh, good way to end the episode as Logan just smiled at them and walked back into the party.
A bonus for all of you Veronica Mars fans this week. Here is a video of Kristen Bell and Chris Lowell asking each other questions. FUNNY clip!!

Jon Bon Jovi was the coach on this week’s American Idol with the contestants singing songs of his. He also performed on last night’s results show. I thought this was a good week of performances. It’s always interesting to see how the contestants do when they get into the rock week. Remember that with no one going home last week due to it being Idol Gives Back week that the votes from last week carried over to this week with two people going home. The show was split into two parts with one contestant being eliminated in each half hour. Eliminated in the first half hour was Phil Stacey. Eliminated in the second half hour was Chris Richardson. Idol had a total of over 135 million votes from this week and last week. Our final four is Jordin, Melinda, Blake, and LaKisha. I made a comment last week saying that LaKisha needed to have a strong showing this week and she did. Jordin struggled with rock week. Blake did well with his beatbox change up of the hit “You Give Love A Bad Name”. Melinda had her usual solid performance.
Anyone else excited over Spiderman 3 being released tomorrow??!! I can’t wait to see it!! The movie is already breaking records overseas. That leads me to this question, why in the world are we the last ones to get it released??!! The reviews are solid for it but I’ve read very little about it cause I don’t want to know what is going on in it. Don’t send me any spoilers when you see it.
The Amazing Race is down to its season finale this Sunday night as we have the final three teams battling for a million dollars. It is down to Dustin & Kandice, Charla & Mirna, and Danielle & Eric. I’m sticking with my original pick and that is Dustin & Kandice winning to become the first all women team to win The Amazing Race. We’ll see how it plays out.
For two guys that supposedly have this game of Survivor figured out, Mookie and Alex sure do mess up a whole lot. Let’s not forget the immunity idol being played and costing the elimination of Eduardo. Last week saw Mookie and Alex go through Yau Man’s bag while he was away and they found his immunity idol. Then, they start talking trash out in the woods about how they can’t wait to make this play knowing that he has it only to not realize that Cassandra and Stacy were right nearby hearing the whole thing. Mookie and Alex then realize that they had been heard and run back to camp to try and get to Yau Man before the others do. They tell him that they know he has the immunity idol and he basically responds back “so what are you going to do about it”. They thought it would put a target on him at camp knowing that he has it but the only thing the rest of the tribe cared about was how dirty it was for Mookie and Alex to go through his bag. What happened? Mookie got voted out and I loved it!!
If any of you are fans of the Disney movie, High School Musical, it was announced that the sequel will premiere on Disney Channel on Friday, August 17th. All the stars of the first movie will be back for the sequel.
I haven’t been able to say this in about 10 years of Bulls basketball as I’ll say get out the brooms. The Bulls pulled out a sweep on Miami in the first round. First time in around 50 years that a defending NBA champion has been swept in the first round. The Bulls were strong in all four games and move on to the second round to play the Detroit Pistons. Isn’t there some sort of rivalry there? Of course there is and I wonder how intense of a series that it will be compared to what it used to be like back in the 80’s and early 90’s. On another Playoff note, that Dallas/Golden State series has been amazing to watch. Dallas is an example of no matter how good of a record that you have, you can run into trouble even in the first round if a team matches up well. Golden State was undefeated against Dallas in the regular season and matches up really well against them. Golden State had them down 3-1 in the series early this week. The series is 3-2 in favor of Golden State going into tonight’s Game 6. That crowd in Oakland is one of the best NBA crowds ever as that has to be a nightmare being a visiting team in that place. What a series that has been!!
Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip is set to return to the NBC schedule with new episodes on Thursday nights at 9pm beginning May 24th. This is according to NBC.com. There are 6 episodes that have yet to air of the show.
Nielsen released their figures on what the most DVR’d shows are for the week of April 8th. According to the article that I read, Nielsen hasn’t been releasing this info to the press very often at all. The most DVR’d shows for the week were The Office, House, Lost, American Idol, 24, Prison Break, 30 Rock, Scrubs, and Friday Night Lights. Some of these shows are seeing a considerable raise in viewers with The Office jumping up by almost 2 million viewers.
It looks like we have a marriage proposal coming on next week’s Gilmore Girls with Logan and Rory.
Speaking of Gilmore, isn’t the girl that is in the new Pizza Hut commercial the one that guest starred as one of Rory’s college freshmen year roommates? I’m almost positive it is her or someone that looks a lot like her. I believe that she played the roommate that her and Paris were always at each other’s throats and brought a lot of funny moments to the show that season.
Fans of the show, Heroes, you have a season one DVD box set on the way. The likely DVD release date is August 28th. There is talk that it will get a regular DVD release and a HD-DVD release.
The new high definition era of TV has given a big boost to something in TV’s past. Rabbit ears!! That’s right. The rabbit ear antennas are selling once again cause people can pick up some of their local stations with them. Not only can you pick up an analog signal but you can pick up a high definition signal if you live close to enough to receive the signal from the local stations. Many are buying antennas again as a way to get high definition signals without having to pay extra fees to satellite and cable companies for the service. Many are arguing that the HD signals from local stations look better over the air than getting them from the satellite and cable companies due to people saying the signals are compressed through satellite and cable. High definition signals for free. Sounds good to me!!
Here is a question that I have. With online viewing taking off the way it is, will people just not even bother with watching stuff when it airs? When I looked on NBC.com and saw that the whole season of Heroes was available up to the current episode, I just thought how convenient that is. The quality looks great on the episodes too. Are a lot of people not even bothering watching shows when they air anymore and just going to the internet? I tend to think so. You can watch them on network websites and download them from iTunes to watch at your convenience. It really does make the Nielsen ratings system outdated. After reading of Driven being pulled from the schedule, this goes back to the whole thing that I’ve always said. Networks don’t give shows enough of a chance. Networks are so obsessed with nothing but ratings anymore that they don’t give them any time to build an audience. If a show doesn’t knock the ratings out of the park at the beginning, they get pulled. The example that is always shown is that Seinfeld didn’t do that well ratings wise for the first two or three seasons. Would Seinfeld have survived in this era of TV? Think about how great that show is and how we would have been cheated out of that cause it struggled early on. Now, I’m not comparing Driven to Seinfeld obviously and I’ve never even watched Driven. I’m just saying that you have got to give shows a little bit of time to see if they can build an audience cause you may be canceling a show that may hit on something later down the line. The network obsession of ratings over quality is beyond annoying and I look forward to different alternatives to watching TV whether it is straight to DVD type releases for shows if they could find a way to make money on it without advertising or launch shows online with advertising on there.
HBO announced that they are going to air a concert of Justin Timberlake’s current tour. The show will be taped on August 16th at Madison Square Garden and will then air on HBO on September 3rd. The HBO special will also be released later on DVD.

TV Line Of The Week: (This is something new that I’m going to try and see if I can do this every week)
“You need to listen to me right now. What you’re doing is cruel” – Wallace
“Are you kidding? When I told him my name (looking at the guy across the room and pointing), he did the whole banana fana fo fana thing”. – Veronica
From Veronica Mars
Veronica had just been talking to a guy at a party and then ran over interrupting a conversation that Piz and Wallace were having with another girl. Veronica pretended to be Piz’s girlfriend to have an excuse to get away from the guy across the room. Piz of course has had a little thing for Veronica for a while now.
