So, here’s the deal. It looks like the theory of why the CW won’t just announce the cancellation of Veronica Mars is starting to become fact. Kristin over at E Online said that insiders are telling her that the “CW’s decision makers do not want to come right out and say Veronica has been canceled because they fear it will only add fuel to the angry fan fire. Guess what CW? The fact that we’ve been toyed with is fueling us even more. Looks like that theory from last week’s upfronts has become true that they are just flat out scared to announce that cancellation and no wonder they didn’t do it last week when they would have had a ton of heat on them from critics and fans. Veronica Mars is by all accounts done but definitely let the CW know how you feel about it. Here is all the information on contacts of how to complain to the CW and fight for Veronica Mars. At least, let them know how you feel about it. Email: feedback@cwtv.com Write letters or send postcards to the president of the CW at:

One thing annoyed me off the top with the finale of Veronica Mars. Even throughout the episode, the CW was showing graphics that said “season finale”. I could really go into what I think of the CW right now but I think I’ve pretty well covered that. After watching this great two hour finale, I could REALLY go into what I think of the CW right now. What a finale!! What I liked is that at least we didn’t get left with MAJOR cliffhangers. We got left with some but the show would end good enough for me although we need more. The show left me the way it has throughout the whole series, on the edge of my seat and glued to the episode. I liked the first episode with Veronica helping Weevil yet again and proving his innocence. Although, he did have that computer at the end after he told her that he didn’t. The second episode saw several things brought back from season’s past which I thought fitting of the last episode even though it was written as a season finale. The episode saw a video pop up online of Veronica and Piz fooling around in his dorm room. Dick actually found the video online and showed it to Logan. Logan then went on a mission to find Piz thinking that he had recorded it. He pounded Piz for the most part although Piz did get a couple of shots again. How awesome was that shot that they had of Logan walking inside to go after Piz? Whoever called that camera shot was pure amazing. You just knew that this was not going to go well when Logan caught up to Piz. It turns out though that Piz didn’t have a thing to do with it. My first thought was that I bet it had to do with the people that were following Wallace and that they had bugged his room. Turns out I was right. Wallace had been asked by someone to join this secret society named The Castle. Veronica then went into classic Veronica mode as she went on a mission to find out who originated this email taking down the people who just forwarded the email along the way. This secret society was so secret that no one even knew who the members were or what they even do. Wallace agreed to go to the initiation type deal. It was a confessional type deal and they knew every single thing about everyone including bringing up a secret from Wallace’s past from last season. When anyone lies, one of the other people being asked questions too gets shocked. It was a rough time. Wallace did catch the guy doing the questioning mess up and say something that gave away who he was. Veronica tracked the person down and where the group was meeting. She snuck into, of all places, the Kane house. Hello, season one!! Veronica stole the hard drive out of the computer which, after hearing a conversation, had all the info of the questioning meetings. You of course have to get Mac involved and Weevil let them into the school’s main computer to break the password on the hard drive. They walked into the room with this HUGE computer system to which Mac says “hello lover”. Cracked me up. After waiting several hours, the code was broken and the hard drive contained every member’s name and also their interviews going back almost 40 years. One of the members of The Castle threatened her after Logan had apologized to Veronica about going off on Piz without any proof. Logan of course ended up pounding the Castle guy. He also apologized to Piz on the way out. Also, in other Logan news. Parker broke up with Logan saying that the way he went after Piz showed that he still was in love with Veronica and not her. Keith was investigating the break in at the Kane house and found a piece of Veronica’s sweater on the door that she squeezed through. The neighbor’s surveillance also showed Veronica breaking in. Keith ended up going to bat for her as he had claimed the DVR from the neighbor. He ended up erasing it with a magnet. Veronica gave the hard drive back to Mr. Kane and he was going to have her arrested. She then said that if he did that all the info on the hard drive went public. She wanted them to lay off of her dad too but it was too late. Charges had been filed on Keith for tampering with evidence. The episode ended with Veronica voting for her dad in the sheriff race, who once again stood by her side despite the consequences, which will likely finish his chances of winning the election. Then, it was over. These two episodes had everything in it that I loved about Veronica Mars. I’m satisfied with how it ended and am just glad that we didn’t get left with a HEFTY cliffhanger. The show ended with that strong relationship between Veronica and her father. Hey, I’m also glad that no one got killed off for the first time in a last episode of a season. We still need more though!!
I’ll write an overall look at Veronica Mars in the future when the CW finally has guts enough to admit it is canceled. Anyone else even more furious that the CW continued to promote Tuesday’s show as a “season finale”? Also, if any of you are interested in watching the DVD’s, Circuit City has a nice deal on seasons one and two of Veronica Mars for $24.99 a piece going for a few more days. Website has it as regular price so it looks to be an in store thing. I also found this podcast website for Veronica Mars where several involved with the show having been doing podcasts. Check it out. http://veronicamars.podomatic.com/
Jordin Sparks vs. Blake Lewis. That was who it came down to on this sixth season of American Idol. And the winner of American Idol 2007 is…..Jordin Sparks. 74 million votes were cast and Jordin becomes the youngest Idol winner ever as she is 17 years old. Who did I vote for? I put in five votes for Jordin. Only the second time that I’ve voted this season. Each contestant got three songs on Tuesday night. For me, round one went to Blake. Rounds two and three went to Jordin. Jordin was amazing on her last song!! When she sang that song, I thought immediately that we’ll be hearing her sing this song for a winning moment on Wednesday night. Tuesday’s performance show closed with Daughtry. Great to see Chris Daughtry back on the Idol stage as his band Daughtry performed “Home” at the end of Tuesday’s episode with the highlights of the season playing on the screen behind them. He is definitely the break out star of season five. That brings us to the two hour finale on Wednesday night. Lots of star power on the show with Gladys Knight, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson, Joe Perry, Gwen Stefani, Doug E. Fresh, and Green Day. Also on the show were four of the five previous Idol winners. The only one missing was Fantasia who couldn’t make it due to her performing on Broadway if I remember right. Kelly, Ruben, Carrie, and Taylor all performed. I was happy to see Sanjaya’s crying fan back in the crowd. I’ve said multiple times when watching the show that as many times as they’ve used clips of her on the show this season that they had better get her tickets to the finale. I sort of got my wish with that last performance as all the Idol winners were on the stage together for the Beatles tribute. Each sang a separate number and then appeared all together at the end. Only bad thing was that they really didn’t actually sing TOGETHER. So, that was a bummer. Very cool to see them all on the Idol stage though. Carrie Underwood was honored with an award announcing that her album has gone six times platinum. I tend to think that she may end up surpassing Kelly as the most successful Idol. Speaking of Kelly, she also performed her new single on the Idol stage. I haven’t really decided about that song yet on whether I like it or not.
Movie box office numbers for last weekend. 1. Shrek The Third – $121.6 million. 2. Spiderman 3 – $29 million. 3. 28 Weeks Later – $5.5 million. 4. Georgia Rule – $3.75 million. 5. Disturbia – $3.73 million. 6. Fracture – $2.3 million. 7. Delta Farce – $1.9 million. 8. The Invisible – $1.3 million. 9. Hot Fuzz – $1.29 million. 10. Blades Of Glory – $1.1 million.
Shrek The Third made a lot of noise at the box office as expected. The movie set the record for the biggest opening for an animated film ever. It was the third highest non holiday opening ever. It was the fourth highest opening weekend ever as well. All eyes now are on that movie, ah, what is it called? Oh yeah. Pirates of the Caribbean. LOL. We’ll see what kind of numbers it does opening weekend.
I spoke last week about the Jericho fans being furious over the cancellation of the show by CBS. I also was shocked of the cancellation and I don’t even watch it. The fans are going to great lengths to fight for their show. One of the campaigns that is going is at this link, http://www.nutsonline.com/gifts/jericho.html and I’ve got to say that this is one of the more creative fan campaigns that I’ve seen. Good for them!! People are sending nuts to CBS as a tie in to something that was in the last episode. Nutsonline started getting these orders from people and they didn’t know what was going on with all these orders going to CBS. After talking to various fans from all places, they decided to set up a separate part of the website for the Jericho fans and are really interested in the fans’ cause. The number of orders that they are getting is INCREDIBLE and they are excited to help with the cause. As of earlier tonight, 15,000 lbs. of nuts have been ordered to send to CBS. Some have been delivered while others are on the way. Almost 2,000 orders and $21,000 worth has been bought total. The site also has some videos on it of the delivery of the boxes to CBS with notes all over it. Great stuff!! Keep up the fight Jericho fans. I’m loving reading about that and they are getting a lot of media coverage too with the campaign. I’ve been involved in some campaigns in the past doing my part to help out with sending stuff as I was into the Roswell, Angel, and American Dreams fan campaigns. I can say that campaigns do work as it worked with Roswell getting them two more seasons. Angel should have worked and was a great campaign!! NBC just stuck it to all of us American Dreams fans basically. LOL. The Jericho fans do have CBS’s attention from what I’ve heard.

CBS did acknowledge the backlash from the Jericho fans and posted this statement:
To the fans of Jericho:
We have read your emails over the past few days and have been touched by the depth and passion with which you have expressed your disappointment. Please know that canceling a television series is a very difficult decision. Hundreds of people at the Network, the production company and the incredibly-talented creative team worked very hard to build and serve the community for this show — both on-air and online. It is a show we loved too.
Thank you for supporting Jericho with such passion. We truly appreciate the commitment you made to the series and we are humbled by your disappointment. In the coming weeks, we hope develop a way to provide closure to the compelling drama that was the Jericho story.
Sincerely,
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment
We may have some new Gilmore down the line in the future with a TV movie. Michael Ausiello over at TV Guide talked to the Palladino’s last week at the network presentations trying to get the last four words out of them. What am I speaking of? The Palladino’s always talked about having the “final four words” of the show that was planned when Gilmore did eventually end. Problem is that we didn’t get them cause they didn’t get to write the episode. He tried to get the words out of them but they wouldn’t reveal them. Why? Amy is hoping to make a two hour TV reunion movie maybe a couple of years down the line. That is something that they “are interesting in pursuing”. Wow, that would be great and it would be a cool way for the creators of the show to get to end it the way that they want. Ausiello got comments from various cast members to get their reaction to what Amy had to say. Here is what they had to say:
Scott Patterson: “She said what? I didn’t think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it.”
Alexis Bledel: “A Gilmore Girls reunion? (laughing) That’s certainly not something I had thought of doing. That’s really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don’t know, I’m sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I’d have to read it and see how I felt at the time.”
Lauren Graham: “Could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me.”
I guess we can always hope for that movie somewhere down the line.

Big ratings week as the shows headed to their season finales. ABC reigned on Monday night with the performance show of Dancing With The Stars followed by The Bachelor. They averaged a 10.2 rating for the night which got them the win for the night. 2nd went to CBS with a 7.1 average for the night which actually saw them airing mostly reruns. 3rd went to NBC with a 6.7 which included Deal Or No Deal, the season finale of Heroes, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. 4th place went to Fox with a 6.1 average for the 24 season finale. In last was the CW averaging a 1.3 for the night with reruns of their Monday night comedies. The Dancing With The Stars finale got a 15.1 rating in its second hour on Tuesday night. The ratings for the American Idol finale were down from last season’s finale as the show had 30.7 million viewers compared to last year’s 36 million. I hope that people watched that show live last night cause it ran over time again this year. If you DVR’d it, you didn’t get to see the winner announced as Fox had it scheduled for 9pm to end. The show didn’t end till about 9:09. I’ve complained about how networks can’t do that to the people recording shows. There was no time change listed for the Idol finale.
USA Today is saying that the new Trademark show, The Real Deal, is pulling in 50% more viewers than Trading Spaces was in the same timeslot.
I thought something that might be fun to do once a month is pick five songs that I am really liking at the moment. They don’t have to be current songs. I seem to grow tired of songs pretty quickly here lately as I just don’t think music is as good as it used to be. Either that or it is me growing up and being a cranky get off my lawn person talking about how things used to be. LOL!! I do spend a ton of time listening to 90’s music channels though. Here is what I am liking right now Not in any particular order obviously.
- Justin Timberlake – What Goes Around. Another catchy song from him.
- Nickelback – If Everyone Cared. This is a case of if you put a song and edit it with a TV show or movie, it can make me like it. I wasn’t that into this song until I saw the NBC promo of Heroes with this song edited in. Liked it ever since.
- REM – It’s The End Of The World. An oldie but goodie. I have heard this song so much lately. I always thought the music video was unique and I actually saw it recently played on The Tube music channel.
- Disturbed – Land Of Confusion. Very good sounding remake of that song.
- Katharine McPhee – Over It. Really liking her first single.
The Bulls were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs last week after a tough matchup with Detroit. I’m glad that the Bulls made it a series at the end winning two games. The Bulls got rocked for the first three games and that first game was brutal against the Bulls as I don’t think they were the same team after that first blowout. Tough to beat a team with so much playoff experience. Chauncey Billups gave the Bulls a lot of credit with how they finished the series saying “they got our attention” talking about the Bulls win in Detroit in game 5. Bulls just need to get some more playoff experience for those young players. Very happy with the overall season for the Bulls.
Thoughts on issue three of the new Buffy season eight comic. Really enjoyed this one!! It focused more on the main characters and had some laughs in while also continuing the story. Again, these are spoilers so stop reading if you haven’t read it yet. We left off issue two with the return of Willow as she battles with Amy. Buffy is still under the love spell. Buffy is met in her dreamspace by Ethan Rayne who we haven’t heard from in a long time. Buffy comes to the conclusion that he must have sought her out to tell her something. He leads her through an area of her thoughts, anxieties, and dreams. She ends up finding out that she is under a love spell. Amy is stepped on by a giant Dawn and Willow takes over leaving Amy in a sedated state. Willow then demands that someone kiss Buffy that is in love with her as it will break the spell. She tells everyone to close their eyes and then the one person can do it without giving it away to everyone. We never actually see who did it but all signs point to Xander. Buffy is later curious as to who did it. Buffy and Willow catch up as it is revealed that Willow has been gone for a year. Buffy asks how Kennedy was to which Willow says “she died” freaking Buffy out. Willow then jokes that she always tells that story wrong saying that it was a mystical thing and temporary but that she is fine now. Buffy, Willow, and Xander all try to figure out what the connection is with Amy and the symbol is as they are convinced there is a relation. Willow runs a trace to see where she teleported from and realizes that it has a military tie in wondering if the Initiative is back. A portal then shows up and takes Willow into it. Buffy turns to Xander and says “we’re being played. I’m not liking it”. We then go to Willow who is on a table being held down with a mystical spell. A voice says that they are supposed to be taking down the Slayer but that they think she’ll show up later. The person is looking forward to the Slayer showing up but is really looking forward to getting even with Willow. Who is this person? The last page revealed a skinless person with a saw which leads me to think…..Warren. Ooooohhhh. Good stuff. I think that this might be favorite issue so far.
