The final four is set on this season’s Amazing Race! This week had a lot of heat bearing down on the teams as the race moved from Athens, Greece to Milan, Italy. We had the physical heat but we had the heat of stress starting the episode as teams tried to get on the first direct flight to Italy via the 9:20am flight. All the teams got on the flight except for one which was Taylor and Kyland. The flight ended up being full by the time they tried to get tickets so they ended up on the second direct flight which arrived at 10:05 am.
The top four teams arrived in Italy and started on their way to the road block. We see Joseph and Adam following Jag and Jas with the reasoning of Joseph and Adam struggling with directions at times. The road block ends up being a whole lot of the story of this leg of the race as teams have to recreate a floral dress. Teams talk about how this is definitely the hottest day of the race including direct sunlight. Adam’s health with his blood sugar has been something that I don’t feel like has been focused on a ton with the actual edit of the show. If you follow Chat BCC, they have been detailing so much of their journey on there including moments when Adam’s blood sugar was getting very concerning but he was pushing through. During this task, Adam starts feeling dizzy out there in the sun and then his blood sugar gets super low to the point of him sitting down on the ground. Joseph and a medic step in immediately to check on him. They get fluid in him as he sits to rest. He at one point wants to get up and get back going which is definitely an Adam thing to do. They have him park back down. They get his blood sugar and everything under control and he feels up to going back to the task. It should also be pointed out that Joseph tonight on Chat BCC said that the other teams wanted to stop too while Adam was down but that Joseph and Adam refused to let them do that. While all four teams are still competing, Kyland and Taylor arrive so they are feeling good about seeing other teams again. Jas struggles with the flowers as he keeps getting the number of flowers wrong. He figures out what he is doing wrong and gets it on the 12th attempt. They leave out in first place. Adam starts to struggle again and is getting dizzy headed. This time his blood sugar is spiked high cause he was filled with so many electrolytes before. My heart just goes out to this guy. I was getting teary watching him struggle. Just such a great guy and it’s lousy watching him struggle with this. They move Adam and his floral arrangement to the shade so he can continue there. Izzy completes the floral on her 6th attempt and then Adam finishes it on his 6th attempt. They leave second and third place. Jack was struggling with the number of flowers as well but completed it on his 11th attempt. Kyland finishes on his second attempt. With that being such a detail kind of task, I really thought Kyland would do well on it and he did with that only taking two attempts of checking his work.
The four teams are on their way to the Italian games where teams will have to complete two different games to move on. One team struggles though with directions again as Chelsie and Jack look to take a wrong turn immediately as Joseph and Adam notice they are going the wrong direction from them. They did indeed take a wrong turn as they drive 30 minutes only to return right back to the floral task. They get new directions and are on their way. Jag and Jas finish that and are on their way before any of the other teams arrive. They move on to the next route info where teams have to complete building a Da Vinci bridge. I really do notice often how well Jag and Jas work together. It really shined in this task as they lay out a plan, communicate well with each other, and stay calm and cool. They finish and move on so they’re two tasks ahead now of the other teams. Paige is shown completing the games task and they’re done right as Joseph and Adam arrive. Joseph and Adam then decide on who should be the one to do the games. Adam wants to do it to redeem himself and Jospeh wants to allow him to do it so he can gain confidence in himself to show himself that diabetes is not a weakness for him. Adam absolutely rocks this task finishing it and it looks like he has a blast doing it. Big celebration from them. I had such a big smile watching him complete that. Taylor and Kyland arrive at the games and Adam tells them where the clue box is but they do cut the help there telling the locals they are getting directions from that if that team comes back, lie and say you don’t speak English if they ask for directions. Amazing Race strategy. LOL. Jag and Jas are shown checking in at the pit stop and they are team number one to finish this leg of the race.
The drama of elimination for this leg is going to be between Taylor and Kyland & Chelsie and Jack as we have Taylor and Chelsie battling it out at the games. We flash forward to the Da Vinci bridge where Izzy and Paige do an awesome job completing that task and they go to the pit stop to get their highest finish of the race so far, 2nd place! Taylor is shown finishing the games in 4th place with Chelsie not far behind in 5th place. Battle is still on here with those two teams! Joseph and Adam finish the Da Vinci bridge with a funny moment to close it out. They head to the pit stop to finish in third place. Major kudos to them cause this leg of the race was next level brutal and they overcame it. Who will be eliminated? The bottom two teams arrive at the bridge. I really liked how Taylor and Kyland worked together on the bridge. Good communication and plan. Chelsie and Jack knock out the task too and they are right in this thing. On Chat BCC, Joseph said they were told to not stay on the mat long as they had two teams incoming quick so I’m curious to see how much time separated the three teams. Taylor and Kyland get to the mat in 4th place and overcome the flight issue that got them behind. They worked hard to overcome that! That leaves Chelsie and Jack to arrive last and they are eliminated from the race. They battled hard trying to overcome their navigation troubles. I’m sure their media interviews will have a lot of discussion on their constant navigation troubles throughout the race. They just got bit by that over and over. So, we have our final four teams!
