Welcome to the “Pierce, your security team is the worst” edition of The Wrestling List. I cracked up at the closing segment tonight on Raw cause the commentary team is screaming ‘where is security’ while LA Knight is just getting destroyed big time. I laughed cause I said who knows where they are cause they just show up when they want to. LOL. But that’s how WWE security has always been on WWE TV storylines. They’ll break up something immediately and then you have LA Knight just getting pummeled for minutes and nobody can see a monitor saying maybe we ought to send help. LOL. The spot itself was brutal with Bronson hitting the tsunami splash ON TOP OF A CAR on to LA Knight. GEEZ. What’s funny is the camera feed glitched for a split second right before he went for it. I thought oh, they’re going to cut before he does it but it came right back. My next thought was oh geez, was it that close to a technical glitch missing the moment? So, they definitely did a big job of making that group look vicious tonight. Bron closed the show cutting another promo so they are definitely giving him a chance on the mic. I didn’t think it was as good of a promo as last week. It was just there for me. Tag teams were the other focus of the show it seemed with Jey seemingly going back to his roots after his breakdown last week. They got involved in the tag team title post match segment with AJ and Dragon Lee and The New Day. The Usos are focused on tag team gold and my first thought was here comes another run of Usos and New Day. We still have the women’s tag teams getting focus with Iyo vs Kairi with Asuka and Rhea at ringside. We also had Roxanne vs Lyra with Bayley and Liv at ringside. There was also the Judgment Day segment with Liv talking to Roxanne about them being tag team partners going for the titles so Liv looks to be trying to bond with Roxanne. We had the masked man appearing multiple times during the show doing attacks. It just doesn’t have any kind of heat with me. Maybe it will be awesome but it’s just not exciting for me two weeks in.
Other notes from Raw. Look at Roxanne finally getting her entrance on TV again. They usually take a commercial break during it.
NXT Deadline took place on Saturday night and I thought it was a fun show. New champion crowned with Oba Femi getting the championship back from Ricky Saints. That means it will be Cody vs Oba on Saturday Night’s Main Event. The women’s iron survivor match was next and I thought it was the match of the night. Also one of my favorite NXT matches of the year. Everyone shined in this one. I loved the chemistry with Kendal Grey and Kelani Jordan. They just clicked so well in the ring every time they faced off. I’d love to see more of them. A lot of fun spots in this match. We have a tie at the top with the most pinfalls and then Kendal gets the last second victory by getting the pinfall with a few seconds left. Very happy with her getting the win. That was my first time seeing her in the ring and I was so impressed with her. She’s a lot of fun. Ethan Page got the victory on Mr. Iguana. They got the jerk heel spots in and the comedy stuff in too. Tatum Paxley vs Izzi Dame was next. Good match but I wasn’t crazy at Tatum just getting played over and over throughout. One with the double hug and then with the dolls outside. I wanted her to just wreck havoc instead of being fooled over and over cause it felt like she was above it with this friend turn on her. That spot on the table was NASTY. My goodness, the reaction I let out on that landing on the table. I just hope they don’t lose momentum with Tatum cause she had it with that title victory. Now, she’s lost the title and getting played for a fool by her former friend. Main event time which was a fun match as well with the men’s iron survivor challenge. Again, we have a tie at the top of the standings with seconds left and Je’Von Evans does what Kendal did getting the last second victory. Happy with that win as well. Evans is just awesome. Just amazing to watch in the ring. Ending of the show had the return of Tony D’Angelo attacking Evans.
Saturday Night’s Main Event will be this Saturday night on Peacock featuring John Cena’s final match which will be against the winner of the tournament, Gunther. The show starts at 7pm central time with the pre show starting at 5pm. Other matches on the card include Cody Rhodes vs Oba Femi. Bayley vs Sol Ruca. AJ Styles and Dragon Lee vs Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater.
Bayley appeared on the Undertaker’s podcast last week. Very fun interview. Biased Bayley fan here so I enjoyed it. They talked about a variety of topics including the current state of wrestling, her early days of getting into the business including how she got the Bayley name, her WrestleMania snub this year, and much more. The discussion that got the most buzz online out of the podcast grabbing the most headlines was the talk about talent not watching other people’s matches enough like they should. She talked of how some will just leave if they’re not on the show. She said she’ll see Seth Rollins helping talent back in the production room giving feedback but then he’ll come back from doing the main event and there is no one there watching him or greeting him. Taker said he had that experience a bunch too mentioning a time where he came backstage from a main event and it was just Cena and Flair there and I believe there was one more name he mentioned??? Taker said he just gave a look expression of where is everyone without saying anything and Cena and Flair just shrugged understanding what he was saying. Taker also said he’s had talent come up and ask him for input but then they won’t do anything he says. LOL. Bayley is a frequent hanger outer in that room and added that she loves being in there watching shows and listening to the interactions of talent with learning from others. Bayley also had a huge weekend this past weekend hosting her invitation only all women’s training seminar where she put out an invitation to the young talent who wanted to work out, train, ask questions, and learn. This was something that Bayley came up with on her own wanting to do. Several from WWE went there too with helping out and talking to them including Rhea Ripley, Natalya, Tyson Kidd, Bianca Belair, Roxanne Perez, Cora Jade, Lyra Valkyria, Maxinne Dupri and I’m sure I’m missing other names so my apologies. A big deal too as John Cena showed up talking to talent and getting in the ring as well. Bayley said that when she posted about doing this seminar that Cena was one of the first to reach out asking how he could help. She said on his retirement week that he showed up and watched 10 women’s matches and spent eight hours with them. Bayley talked on the podcast of what she’d like to do when her in ring career was done and she wasn’t big on the producer role but said training is where she’d like to be. So, this seminar was right up her alley and I’ve seen so much good feedback from the ladies that showed up.
TNA announced last week that they have signed a new TV deal with AMC. Thursday Night Impact will premiere on January 15, 2026 from 8-10pm central on AMC. The deal also allows the show to be on AMC+. I like the move to AMC so I’m very curious to see how the show does.
