The Amazing Race 38 crowned its winner tonight with the 90 minute finale. Fun finale that saw the teams leaving Europe and going to New York City. Before we headed to NYC, we had the unknown from last week’s episode with who would be eliminated between Izzy & Paige and Joseph & Adam. Izzy and Paige are the final team eliminated before the finale. So proud of them for the run they had on the race! They were awesome!
The finale gets underway with the teams arriving in NYC. Jag and Jas are the first team to arrive at the Empire State Building where teams will have to rappel down the building from the 103rd floor down to the 90th floor. Amazing visual watching the teams complete this task. Jag and Jas finish first followed by Taylor and Kyland and then Joseph and Adam. Some definite strategy in play here that helped the top two teams versus Joseph and Adam. Jag & Jas and Taylor & Kyland both kept their same cab driver throughout the finale. It proved to be crucial in the race. Teams arrive at a bakery to pick up a special package that they will take to 1900 Broadway not knowing where they are going which turns out to be Sesame Street. They take a cookie to the Cookie Monster and then get their clue from Oscar The Grouch. This was fun! I loved the moment with Taylor saying she was always an Oscar The Grouch girl and then out pops Oscar out of the trash can. So funny. The teams really had fun with this with their kid selves coming out. This is where the cab thing comes into play. When Joseph and Adam arrived, they asked if their cab driver could wait 5-10 minutes if possible. When they left the Sesame Street task, the cab driver was gone and they had to spend time catching another cab. Route info is next with teams going to Spandex House. Teams have to fill a fabric order and then load the bolts on to two carts going through the busy streets to the Institute of Fashion. This was brilliant on Jag and Jas’s part. As they got their carts loaded, they went to their cab driver to get directions of where they were going and the cab driver said he’d go there and park. That was great for them and probably saved them all sorts of time with how good of a relationship they had with their cab driver. Taylor and Kyland also had a great relationship with their cab driver throughout too who was waiting for them and determined to help them win. Jag and Jas have a tiny bit of drama when one of their bolts gets caught in one of the cart wheels. Kyland takes most of the load of the bolts to help Taylor with the weight of the bolts and also just even the cart. Joseph also maneuvers the bolts and carts to where he’s handling the majority of the weight which helps Adam. Jag and Jas finish first here and then teams move on to the Seret Studio where they have to complete an Amazing Race crossroad puzzle with the puzzle being clues and answers to things from the race. Taylor rocked this with her notes taken throughout the race as she was ready for this. Jag and Jas work their way through the puzzle and the end is a word scramble which will give them the destination of where the finish line is. Yankee Stadium is the answer. Jag and Jas are off to Yankee Stadium. They give their cab driver all the remaining money they have including Euro dollars that they say he can exchange as a thank you. They said it was about $700 total. Jag and Jas run through the stadium greeted by Phil and the other teams eliminated cheering them on. Jag and Jas win The Amazing Race 38. Taylor and Kyland finish second. Joseph and Adam finish third.
A very enjoyable finale. The finishing order was what I tended to expect just based on how the racing order has went. That wraps up the Big Brother edition of The Amazing Race. Overall an enjoyable season and I definitely enjoyed the finale with fun tasks to close out and NYC for a backdrop.
