Big day for the NASA Artemis II crew as they are set to do their close fly around of the moon. The crew is Commander: Reid Wiseman, Pilot: Victor Glover, Mission Specialist: Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist: Jeremy Hansen. I have been glued to the NASA live feed since the launch. They are such a fun group. On the NASA live stream, we get to observe them in space, hear their communications back to Houston at home, and see them interact with media questions too. They answered questions from kids the other night which was so fun and it sounded like the kids and crew both loved it. I love hearing their eye witness stories of what they are seeing of the moon getting closer and closer and seeing the Earth from a distance. I said to myself, how do you even go about describing what you are seeing? Just no words for it. They do a great job of describing it though and putting the visuals in our heads. They are uploading pictures from up there as well which NASA has been releasing. I know I have said many times this week looking up at the moon with a smile on my face that there are astronauts up there. Usually we are just looking at an object in the sky but this week, it’s so much more and it’s just indescribable. I’ve never gotten to experience a moon launch in my life time so this has been special. Today, they set the record for the furthest distance humans have ever traveled from Earth breaking the record set by Apollo 13.
