Last night was the Big Brother 28 premiere on CBS. We’re off and running for another season of houseguests. I can’t really do a solid full recap of the happenings and events of the episode as we were getting beaten on with weather in this area so it was weather warnings galore through this premiere. Just going to hit the main points. We got our usual intro videos of houseguests which was interesting cause there were some that were very different from what we got with the interviews we got on cast announcement day. We got the cast move in and let it be known that Jason was the first houseguest in for the first person who enters the house never wins curse. Granted, it has happened in Celebrity Big Brother but we’re talking main Big Brother here. The first big twist of the season was the announcement that all the newbies weren’t going to be allowed to win HOH. HOH will be between the people coming into the house that will be reality TV cast members. The newbies will be allowed to compete for safety only. There were competitions to determine who would be safe for the week. I didn’t see much of any of these competitions with the weather warnings so I was following the online discussion and screen caps. These competitions also bring two houseguests. A returning Angela and a Survivor alum in Rick Devens. We also got a massive tease when Rachel Reilly enters the house saying she’s back as well. I said wait, did they actually hide that that well or is this a storyline hoax???? Then, Rachel went into big selling that she’s back in the backyard and I said “she’s about to get eaten by a dinosaur” and then sure enough a dinosaur walks out. I can’t believe I’m typing those words. LOL. So, the Rachel twist was a storyline hoax to tease the one that is known on who is coming into the house. I mean there is the letter E in the alphabet but I’m a big fan of the letter that comes before E. LOL. Tonight, we’ll get the official announcement of the newest houseguest on Big Brother Unlocked. The live feeds will start immediately after Unlocked airs.
Thoughts on the premiere. It was too over the top for me. You know what you get with Big Brother and they sometimes just go full Nickelodeon and they went fullest Nickelodeon last night. The thing I think hit me the most is that you’re going to have Survivor fans wanting to check this out. Some that aren’t Big Brother fans to begin with and don’t like it but hesitantly want to see how the Survivor faves are doing. I said last night if you’re a Survivor fan and you’ve never seen Big Brother, this isn’t the premiere that is going to pull them with the cheesiness of the time travel stuff complete with a dinosaur eating a former Big Brother legend. LOL. The sliming. Big Brother loves their Nickelodeon sliming. I’ve already seen some Survivor fans and entertainment reporters that are Survivor fans saying yeah, you know what I’m good and will just cheer from afar. I thought the premiere was just kind of flat for me. I was also weather warned throughout off and on so it might have broken the rhythm of it for me. I just don’t care for Big Brother’s love to go full Nickelodeon 90s kids at times. For me, the show is the live feeds anyway and the strategy of the social game. So, my premiere is really tonight at 8pm when the feeds go live. That HOH twist is extremely heavy handed with an advantage to the three reality alum. That’s clearly Big Brother protecting making sure one of these returnees don’t get a boot first thing. With the newbies with what I think of them, there is just not much of a way to gauge it yet. You can’t get a feel with an edited show. The interviews only give you so much. We’ve seen houseguests do interviews and then be COMPLETELY opposite in the house. We also get live feeds and have people we like first week and get behind. By week three, we can’t stand them. LOL. Big Brother is a process. It is especially a process with the live feeds as it’s a marathon. Opinions will change as the season goes along. Week one hated could be most popular houseguest by the end and the flip of that too. Live feeds will go up tonight and we’ll get the chaos of trying to catch up on what we’ve missed and get to know these new houseguests while seeing how these alum fit into the game. We’ve already got the first HOH spoiler as Hamsterwatch has posted that on their account so go to the Hamsterwatch Twitter account for that info. I didn’t think much of the premiere last night but I think more times than not, the premiere isn’t that great. It’s more of when we settle into the season instead of the antics of the first episode to where we see what kind of season we’ve got.
