Amazing Race 39 – Episode 4 Recap and Thoughts

We continue from last week’s to be continued cliffhanger waiting on which team will be eliminated. Doug and Dylan do barely get to the pit stop ahead of Jody and Jenn. Jody and Jenn have been eliminated from the race. A Moroccan scramble is set to start this leg of the race. A team will leave to start this leg every two minutes. Teams arrive at the scramble where teams will have to complete three tasks including a slipper search, dyeing bundles of yarn, and a rug run where they carry a rug through the streets to a destination. Connor & Garrett and Ali & Joanna have worked an alliance where they are going to work together. Dafina and Saran continue to battle the injury from the last leg of the hamstring pull. Teams are struggling getting instructions of where to go as they are getting mixed info from the locals. This would become a big story of the episode including locals just seeming to like to say to go straight when giving directions. LOL. Andrea and Anuar work with Ann-Marie and Riley. When Andrea and Anuar finish the slipper task first, Anuar wants to wait and help but Andrea says they can’t wait on the others because every minute counts so they move on leaving Ann-Marie and Riley. Ann-Marie and Riley do still leave in second place. Dafina and Saran use the roadside assistance on the slipper search where both of them can work on the task. They complete the task on the first attempt. Doug and Dylan struggle trying to find the location of the first task getting them behind. Matt and Michelle are the first team to complete the rug task. They decide to not give any info to other teams about the task. They tell Doug and Dylan that they hadn’t completed the rug task yet. They pass Anuar and Andrea as well playing dumb when asked a question. They’re committed to the bit for sure. Daisha and Dalton complete the rug task and see there is one rug already laid out so they know where they stood with that. The first to complete all three tasks is Matt and Michelle. Ali and Joanna end up getting ahead away from Ann-Marie and Riley to during the rug run so that’s two teams that have basically dropped Ann-Marie and Riley on this leg. First at the pit stop is Matt and Michelle who talk in the confessional about how they just work better when it’s the two of them. We have teams sliding coming into the pit stop trying to beat one another. Second is Anuar and Andrea. Erin and Javi in 3rd. Daisha and Dalton in 4th. Ann-Marie and Riley end up beating Ali and Joanna to the finish of the rug task and then tell Ali and Joanna that they didn’t know how many rugs were up there when asked. Cody and Jaime struggle finding the location with the rugs. I was sure that the edit was making this look closer than it was but Doug and Dylan survive. I was shocked with the edit as I thought Doug and Dylan were likely going home. I figured they were trying to make it look closer than it was. The team going home ends up being Cody and Jaime.

3 – Erin and Javi
4 – Daisha and Dalton
5 – Conner and Garrett
