It’s a busy week for all of us that are fans of the big three CBS reality shows. It’s Big Brother 27 finale week. It’s Amazing Race 38 premiere week. It’s also Survivor 49 premiere night tonight! The two hour premiere just concluded on CBS and a good two hours. I think this cast shows promise with being very entertaining. Some big personalities on this cast. Some very quotable ones as well, hello Rizo! LOL. The cast was split into three tribes with it being blue, yellow, and red. I’m not going to even try with the tribe names cause I can never remember them so I’m not even going to pretend like I know them. LOL. The three tribes immediately battle to decide who will get supplies. Yellow takes this win but now we have a twist. The other two tribes must now pick one player to go compete in an extra challenge for another chance at supplies. We don’t have much power of yes, I’ll go from either tribe. LOL. Blue sends Alex. Red sends Rizo. We have the challenge between Rizo and Alex which was really funny TV. Rizo admittedly is terrible at puzzles and when he realized this was a puzzle said he was cooked. So, Alex flies through the puzzle which forms a map along with a X on the map. He goes out into the sand to find where X marks the spot to dig for his wheel piece. Rizo in full struggle mode then decides he’s going to copy the other puzzle. He struggles so bad even with copying that he takes his pieces over and lays them on top of Alex’s puzzle. LOL. Meanwhile, Alex is struggling out in the sand. Rizo gets his puzzle together and then heads out in the sand. He finds his wheel piece and takes it back for the win. Incredible! There are two things here. One, Rizo was so determined to find a way to overcome his struggle with puzzles. Two, Alex was so bad that Rizo was able to win. LOL. Loved Rizo’s celebration confessional where he said “I wish I could hug myself but that’s weird.” Rizo is going to be mega quotable this season. Over on the blue tribe, we have the bro alliance with Alex and Jake. Sophi is aligned with them and they form a four along with Jeremiah. There is a moment where Sophi sees how strong that bromance is looking and says to Jeremiah that it’s me and you basically as number ones. LOL. When we get to the immunity challenge, yellow and red avoid tribal council by finishing top two. That sends blue to tribal council. When they get back to camp, the talk turns to the choices being between Nicole and Annie. Tribal council was pretty quick. This felt like it was going to be a Nicole vote out once we got into tribal. The edit was all on Nicole and zero on Annie so I would have been shocked if Annie went home. Nicole goes home as the first vote out of Survivor 49.
Some various notes. Can we not cover the cast in mud in the first immunity challenge where I can’t tell who is who when I barely even know anyone is yet? LOL. We had our two alternates getting last minute news they were playing with Jason and Michelle. Jason talked in his first moment on the beach saying that he found out he was playing Survivor just before he went to sleep the night before. Talk about a whirlwind. I did laugh at the Matt and James convo. We get a bunch of nerd talk with the group which I always appreciate. I laughed with Matt saying to James, “is what you do called ‘streaming’”. Oh boy. LOL. As far as the rest of the cast, it’s hard to read everyone right off the bat with a premiere with this many people in the game but I like what I see so far. Thumbs up on the Survivor 49 premiere.
